Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru GQuuuuuuX
Big s replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Probably started off with something like a couple construction companies making massive wagers against eachother using less than legal or down in the dumps citizens to make some cash or just to blow some cash on the desperation of these down in the dumps refugees. They probably just would say the suit was stolen and if anyone gets caught they’re on their own. It probably then kinda blew up into something bigger with illegal betting on their viewing platform. At that point then it probably became a bit easier for the junkers to get involved either by actually stealing the suits or rebuilding trashed ones. I almost like the standard Guncannon and the Gundam 01 that got destroyed in episode one. The gelgoog has absolutely no resemblance to a gelgoog and just looks like a junky gm. Looks like next week they’ll have some Doms and maybe those won’t be so bad. So far still nothing that makes me want to buy the merch- 4001 replies

Here’s a pic of the underside gear up and a 1A with those basic missiles. It’s jut from a quick search though and I’m sure you could get more pics in a simple google search I’d double check though because I don’t remember the backs of the missiles being so red Macross is such a weird one to try and find consistency in colts and other details found the dx version of the weapon set. It’s definitely closer to what I remember

The not Tallgeese looks pretty good for the most part. Some of these knockoffs are getting pretty good these days- 790 replies

It wasn’t reaching very hard. I guess the escape scene actually turned out to be a near shot for shot escape scene from the sequels

So Goth Atlas with pretty painted nails is a real thing….

Was kinda thinking about this again, and definitely not as Sonny, but maybe a soft reboot with her as his daughter taking place now. It could be entertaining to have some cameos from characters from the old show as well. The Damned are still touring and could do another musical cameo as well just for fun.

I’m surprised they even included missiles. But they should be white

It’s kinda hard to be iconic these days since mainstream music hasn’t really set a tone for the new millennium and clothing styles kinda stagnated towards the end of the 90’s. Not saying that there isn’t great music now, just nothing that really screams out 2020, 2010 or even a2000’s sound the way 80’s music really had a distinct sound for its decade that was different from the 70’s or the 90’s. The last twenty five or thirty years, there really hasn’t been a sound or fashion that seemed distinct. i do think there were some great movies as well, but nothing that really says what decade it’s from other than maybe cg quality. Tv shows did kinda change in attitude mainly due to streaming, but i don’t think it’s gonna be easy to tell a show from the 2010’s from the 2020’s in four decades away. Maybe Anime is one of the few things that seems to have a noticeable trend shift after a few years, but I’m struggling to think of other genres of entertainment that seem to say what decade they seem to be from. Maybe 2030 will set a new standard that will separate it from other decades

The 'Hey look at this really cool model build I saw' post

Nice one. -
I don’t really think so. Everyone there got kinda dragged into it, she pretty much got pushed into it by her friend in a way her pillpopping party antics seem common to those that know her.

I wish they would work those effects guys to death. It looks like they may have been sleeping on the job in a few scenes there- 133 replies

I just don’t think it needs a remake. That show was really fun, but it’s key to greatness was the time it took place and the look of that time was reflected heavily by the aesthetic of that time and location.

Sorry, you’re right, it was Beastie Boys. I really only watched that movie once a long long time ago The music in the og was definitely derivative, but not exactly something heard before. They kinda played with the structure a bit to make it seem familiar, yet alien at the same time. It didn’t seem very conspicuous at all. Everyone including her husband were doing the cringy dance. At least nobody danced to the scene in Mando
-
It’s that the traditional part is kind of a blend of things in a way that doesn’t feel off, but the modern part is way too on the nose with our modern that bugs me. I get that they might lighten things up a little, but to use 90’s music is where the problem is. If they had found a way to make it sound somewhat derived from our modern music while still being alien, it might’ve worked, but they just didn’t bother being creative in that way. Og Star Wars had a way of taking established music styles and giving it a twist that made things feel and sound unique. This was more jarring than Captain Kirk listening to Rage Against the Machine, since at least that was music that actually existed in that setting, just a few hundred years off. That’s why it throws things off and her dancing just comes off as cringy as well. They easily could’ve found a better way to convey their message both in sound and visually

It was a long log time ago in the 70’s, dubstep was was only a long time ago compared to now. It just didn’t fit. Especially when they’re trying to show oddly mixed traditional styles from old school Asian practices and medieval European dance routines and then the rave starts and it just doesn’t work. Again I get what they wanted to convey with her, just that the rave doesn’t fit at all and just comes off as super cringy. It ends up a terrible scene and kinda screws up the other stuff that’s going on with Andor himself. Basically the one good scene from the first three episodes gets ruined by the Mothma dance scene
-
I meant including a 90’s rave in Star Wars
-
I get the point they were trying to make, but they did it in the worst possible way

I accidentally read that as Gorilla Grod I was happy he might finally be trying to start settling down. -
I get the reason for trying to drown your sorrows in alcohol, but that was super cringy pill popper dancing
-
She sure dances like a tool

This was the worst part of the first three new episodes. I absolutely hated it. I know it takes place a long long time ago, but Dubstep has only been dead since a long time ago
