Thanks. I knew about the tape trick. I actually tried that first. There is no clear coat, so I can just apply some Micro Sol to it and try from there. I didn't think about doing so, but that makes sense because it re-loosens the decals a bit. Thanks!
If it’s slightly stubborn, you could also try a little warm water with a soaked tissue or cloth. Since it doesn’t have the topcoat, it could help lift it.

now is this the so called movie, or is this an actual series? Cause I've gotten massively confused.

Anyway, I’m intrigued by the salt idea. I assume it’s with water based paints? I’ll look it up. Thanks for the insight and encouragement. 👍
The salt method works for most kinds of paints. The best techniques I’ve seen use a kind of mottled rust base color with bright and dark rust colors showing uneven.
Then you get some salt and a bit of water and let the salt kinda stick to the surface like you’d see a pretzel or something. And in places you don’t want chipping, you can just wipe the area clean with water and a napkin or something. Then you cover the kit with your desired colors and decals like normal. Then you can use your finer nails or gently use a blade to kind of scrape off the raised areas. It leaves some raised paint and shows the rust underneath. The paint that’s somewhat raised will appear like real chipped texture. You can add extra weathering to make it appear as rust or oils or dirt at dripping out of those spots as well for some added detail

Hope that means less of the cg look to the mecha in the anime. I feel like sunrise has done alright in some of their recent shows giving a more animated than cg look to the mecha despite actually using heavy cg for their mecha in shows like Gundam with a few exceptions

The rest was literally just making a profit by playing mix-n-match with someone else's creativity. HG missed it's chance after the third Robotech series to actually go off and creatively make something of their own. Instead, their name will alsways just be known for being a Macross rip-off.
That’s why I really think their best move is to try and work out a deal to allow themselves and big west to profit from releasing the og stuff and DYRL. And then just to do Robotech as a disconnected reboot. They could do their own designs and new characters in a story that’s new to rebuild their name. Or just watch the cash roll in from making distribution deals and the streaming rights

Just finished the newest episode. Still rolling strong
SpoilerEven though I hate multiverse stories, at least they never try to get stick on explaining how it works or doesn’t work.
Mark’s lil bro definitely has a higher understanding of what sometimes needs to be done and this episode really squashed mark’s lesson about not killing your super powered psychotic enemies.i kinda wish Rex picked a better way to defeat his opponent though, it just seemed like way to close to a certain episode of X-Men 97

I knew that it was Aaron Paul, but all I kept hearing was an angry Homer Simpson.
Angry Homer Simpson was always the most convincing Homer Simpson

I poke my head in here after forever and immediately see something I want. I guess this is just my fate. I have the ancient VF 2 model but I never trusted myself to build it
It was god for its time, but age really shows. Lots of awkward shapes and such. The hmr blows it away easily. Although, I would love to see a new hg kit of it along with other Macross 2 designs

I was shopping for macross stuff when i cane accross this oddity. I have checked the robotech wiki & even tried contacting Harmony Gold (who i'm well aware is a MASSIVE TABOO to us uncut Macross Maniacs) but was unable to find out the answer. Please forgive the lack of photos as i've taken every image I could find online that shows off the set in as much detail as possible on this obscure set.
Not sure, did the remaster come on dvd or Blu-ray?
also , I think it’s odd that it doesn’t have Mospeada, but I really don’t know how the show was marketed down there. -

It’s always fun to have a chance to try something new. I like how the armor looks like that old fashioned iron kinda look rather than smooth manufactured steel.

And Serena isn’t a character in Sailor Moon

That makes sense. What's the last photo showing us? Is that the HMR extended or another model? I thought they were trying to tell us it could achieve 'tall mode' it something :P.
Yeah, that’s with all the extensions. There’s a bit more than I listed, like the ankles to get better articulation around the armor and the hip gimmick that allows for a higher kick and helps in downform. Basically it’s not to extend height, but to allow for more anime style poses with the all those extra joints moved around, it adds significant height when you extend everything outward.

Can you remind me why it extends so much?
The legs are for the downform, the arms are for the punch and forward reach and the waist is for forward articulation.

Should The Loyal Subjects get around to it, it seems they'll follow the same formula of cloning the OG toys, and their figs, like the Kenner figs, have no elbows either.
I didn’t even check think it was odd that they pretty much redid the joints on theirs more like G.I.Joe, except for adding the elbow joints and a waist articulation. The other joints go some petty good upgrades, but if they just went that little bit more, these would’ve been tough to pass up

Despite 2 decades of building gunpla and macross kits, i rarely painted anything 100% with an airbrush before. just pieces that i thought needed paintwork, which i'd do with rattle cans or airbrush, and then hit everything with a flat coat to even it out. My previous valkyries were all done via rattlecans outside. This is also my first attempt at any sort of camo pattern, and weathering. Definitely a bit rough and I could have toned down the clay wash a bit but overall im pretty happy with how it turned out.
Here's a link to a flickr album with a lot of photos of the process. i didn't detail it out but you can get the idea from the pictures themselves I hope!
Turned out really great. Thanks for sharing.
id love to see something like this on the hg kit as well.

It doesn't hurt that Aaron Paul is a phenomenal actor and gave a great VA performance, he really sold the whole conflict and character.
Totally agree. I didn’t even check who it was that did the voice, but he was pretty great here.
SpoilerI kinda felt like his character wouldn’t have gone quite as far if it wasn’t for his wife pushing him further over the edge.
Overall it was kind of the type of plot that easily could’ve failed if not for the talent behind the character and the circumstances pushing things in that direction.

Just watched last week’s episode. Was a bit behind on tv. This one was one of those episodes where you know pretty much what exactly is going to happen, but still shocking to see that it actually happens.

I want to try that but this first go I’m trying out some Vallejo acrylic paints.
I’ve never had much luck on brush painting lacquer personally. When I used to use acrylics for brush painting, I did really well with citadel paints. I kinda like the army painter ones these days since they seem to level easily and they have a similar product to the contrast paints for the slap chop thing.

Current project. Is a silly and fun Hasegawa 1/35 MechatroWeGo. This was inexpensive and came with two kits and some extras. I think it’s a great opportunity to try some new things.
This build is Inspired by a couple videos I saw from Jon Bius and Lincoln Wright.
So far I have done some texturing using Tamiya putty and put down a black surfacer 1500. My goal in the end is some major weathering practice. Ideally I want to give this a Maschinen Krieger look. Are you gonna try brush painting the lacquers on it? Most of Lincoln’s kits seem to use that painting method

I’m kinda thinking a more interesting story might be something like an independent label that gains access to bands and arts from several genres. Like a rock band, a pop star, maybe a rapper, a country band , maybe a blues band and maybe some kinda techno industrial thing. And the plot uses an enemy that doesn’t just have one mood requiring alternating uses of the different genres of music maybe even coming together to put their backgrounds aside to try and do a we are the world type final moment for the climax of the show.
but it could just all end up totally stupid

For my TV market I think ROBOTECH first aired on April 15th. The first episode with Rick Hunter crash landing in that transforming Veritech fighter blew my mind! ROBOTECH cemented me as a nerd and anime addict for decades.
That being said I think ROBOTECH is fading away. Hardly any new media that can attract new and young viewers and I don't even really care anymore tbh. If ROBOTECH makes a return then great but till then... HG had its chance over 20 years ago but blew it. ROBOTECH pretty much died with Carl Macek.
Honestly, the best way to look at it realistically is what it actually was. It was a tool to bring shows like Macross to the world. And honestly, it was a bumpy road, but we’re finally at a place where several Macross series and movies can be viewed by a much much larger audience. The trip isn’t finished and there’s still the og stuff to settle, but we’re much better off without Robotech in the way. Macross isn’t perfect, but Robotech after the original shows ended was a huge mess.
I’ll never forget that without Robotech anime in general may have taken a lot longer to become standard viewing in a majority of households these days, but Robotech was never really its own thing. Maybe one day they’ll do something with it, but it would be better if they did like Battletech and distanced themselves from non original aspects.

I think it’s hilarious that it doesn’t seem to understand Robotech or Macross and tried to grove you Star Wars, Gundam and Transformers instead
