Does anyone think a coating of mat finish spray may help?
Glad to hear I'm not the only one to have this problem and that Miria 639 is the worst of the bunch.
I’d try cleaning it first, otherwise the top coat might not stick. Also a lot of standard paints and top coats don’t really stick to pvc. Maybe have a test figure to try it on first. Stay far away from enamels, because they can turn to goo on the surface of softer plastics

Yep. Bandai's new production facility is open and is supposed to be in full production by summer. Can't imagine all the stuff they are going to crank out!
It will hopefully make these a little easier for people to get a hold of their products. And maybe a bonus of more innovation on newer products

Over the past few years, I've been retroactively picking up older Macross & non-Macross PVC figures - oldest being stuff made in the early 2000s. I noticed PVC figures made in that decade have the highest incidence of what is sometimes termed as 'PVC weep'. It could perhaps be due to the age of the figures themselves, but it is most likely due to the plasticiser mix as @pengbuzz mentioned above, going by the smattering of user reports that I could still find on back when those figures were still relatively new.
CM's Macross Figures are also susceptible to this, but as waves (parts) get released over that decade, they appear to have improved in plastic stability. Miria 639 is also made by CM's, but unfortunately they are not only by far the worst weepers in their Macross line up, but the most prolific weeper of all figures I own.
So far, soaking in mild soap and brushing with toothbrush work to get rid of the stickiness, but with Miria 639 I would have to do it semi-regularly, maybe twice a year, to prevent a noticeable puddle of goo under her feet. The good thing is, the paint doesn't appear to be affected with the weeping & subsequent cleanings, but I think one day the whole figure will just melt away into nothing.
Might be a good idea to try and make a mold to do a copy of the figure. Then you could use resin or epoxy or even plastic to make more. Sure painting can be a bit of a pain, but at least it would give an option

I had purchased a Yamato Miria 639 figure set when they were first released. In the 20 or so years since it first came out and moving out of my parents' place to my own home, I have since misplaced my original.
In trying to rebuild some of my collection, I started rebuying and buying for the first time some of the PVC figures, including rebuying this Miria set.
So I purchased a brand new sealed set from Yahoo Japan, and upon opening it, there was a slimy residue over all three figures. I don't recall this happening with the ones I had 20 or so years ago, but knowing how things can age and potential residue. Has anyone else had a similar experience or know what it is and how to deal with it?
I have her soaking in some warm soapy water currently hoping it helps...
PVC type figures and toys just get gross over time. I remember the early revoltech figures only lasted a month or two before the sticky ickies happened. Most toys usually take a few years. Good ones can last a few decades. It also depends sometimes on heat. I’ve known people up in the northern states that haven’t had as many issues as collectors closer to the southern border. I haven’t really found any real solutions to the problem, I just tend to avoid as many pvc or rubbery figures these days

I'm just surprised this crap is making enough money for them to keep doing it - even with the quarter of a shoestring budget they are made on.
That’s probably how they’re able to do it. No name actors and bare bones effects and no real writers. Basically if they just get a few people to buy tickets and get something like shudder or one of the other horror streamers to show it, then they made far more of a profit than the newest Blue Falcon America movie that costed a few hundred times more to make and market.
Unfortunately that means this will be the new trend like Sharknado or Sharktopus type movies.

I think I mentioned before on here that I have resolved to complete the 350 scale Klingon K'tinga by Polar Lights, which I'd had in a box on the floor for 6-7 years. I had done most of the pattern painting for the design on the wings and such, but had yet to paint the main hull green color. Well, I finally painted it and it was time to remove the masking tape and masking solution that's been stuck on the model for all these years. A lot of it did not want to cooperate. Fortunately, none of the Tamiya acrylic paint was lifted off, but a lot of residue remained and the masking solution in particular was extremely stubborn. I've been using Locktite blue tack to lift up the stickiness with great success, and applying Zippo lighter fluid with a swab to slowly loosen up the old masking solution and then using the blue tack is doing the trick. The paint has not been disturbed.
Could try some warm water and see if that helps soften the residue

About how much are they charging?
From the Hobby town website. The max version isn’t in stock, but is showing for preorder on the site , but I’d imagine it will be in stock soon. I didn’t see any in person for max but did see the Miria version in store with decals.

New interaction in the Poohverse
I’m probably gonna sound like a broken record here, but again I gotta say that it’s just lazy making every character that enters the public domain into a bad horror movie. Although I at least see a reason for Bambi to take his revenge on hunters. But when Finding Nemo hits public Domain , does he go after the sea creature that murdered his mom and hundreds of his siblings and crippled him or does he go after the dentist and his family?
just hoping I’m dead before Murder Hobbits of the Shire hits theaters

In my opinion, HG should do what Voltron did, revitalizing the old material, but putting several easter eggs from the old series during its seasons. Unlike what it did in the most recent comic series, which was not revitalized, it was the death of the original universe for something very... Strange. But apparently, it refuses to do this because it is "afraid to try". By the way, Robotech 3000 had a wrong concept, which I am surprised that it was done in CGI.
That’s kinda what I was thinking. Something similar, yet different enough for them to say it’s still Robotech.
I’m not saying it would be good, but at least it would be different enough to separate the Japanese originals and the American project. -

Actually, they had a big stock of Testor's canned airbrush propellant really cheap; I'm hoping to stock up on some!
I didn’t know it still existed

Gamlin should have been a normal release meanwhile Wright Immelman's VF-22 should have been the P-Bandai change my mind
I think they did that because Gamlin isn’t as popular as the M&M’s. Although I’m a little surprised that even those didn’t end up web exclusive

Recently watched Black Widow for the first time. Good movie. Wished again that Nat had not been killed, and that there had been more for Red Guardian to do. Really liked Yelena, though I saw her first in the Hawkeye series. Liked her there too. Looking forward to Thunderbolts.
I didn’t really like it much, but I did like Yelena and their pops. A lot of that movie was just kinda mishandled. I hated how boring they made Taskmaster, such a waste of a character. There were some good moments here and there though, just the overall movie kinda suffers. Definitely not the worst of the post endgame movies

We have an Ollie's opening where Big Lots used to be later this month.
I hear they’re really big closer to the eastern side of the country, while over here in the west coast all we hear are YouTube toy archaeologists speaking of legends regarding mountains of Hasbro toys, only to find the fools gold of piles of unwanted Reva and Eternals.
Out here we always had Pic’n Save (which always got jokes from kids on the playground) and getting replaced by Big Lots. But I have heard that Ollies is creeping closer and closer here to the west, while In’n Out is trying to slip the double doubles closer and closer to the eastern shores

Finally got both of mine from eBay. Very nice kits. Gate removal and cleanup has been a breeze so far. I hope Bandai keeps adding Macross. Maybe one day we'll get RG or MG type kits from them.
The hg ones are great. As far as mg and real grade, I kinda want them to get some more advancements in their tech before trying things too complicated. They’re getting better all the time and I’m sure sometime in the future they’ll do better than their 1/72 offerings as far as stability and sturdiness

Only issue I am having is the PC for the head doesn’t hold and I think I’m going to have to glue it. It’s as though the sizing is off. Maybe it’s just me. lol
You could always thicken the part that goes in with a layer or two of super glue if it’s really loose. Just a drop or two and let it harden till it’s thick enough to get some tension. If it’s just a little, some thinned down gloss coat can work.

Honestly, I didn’t think Amazon was gonna be the one to get it. I thought maybe Crunchy Roll or whatever it is now, or Netflix or maybe Hulu.

Thanks. I knew about the tape trick. I actually tried that first. There is no clear coat, so I can just apply some Micro Sol to it and try from there. I didn't think about doing so, but that makes sense because it re-loosens the decals a bit. Thanks!
If it’s slightly stubborn, you could also try a little warm water with a soaked tissue or cloth. Since it doesn’t have the topcoat, it could help lift it.

Anyway, I’m intrigued by the salt idea. I assume it’s with water based paints? I’ll look it up. Thanks for the insight and encouragement. 👍
The salt method works for most kinds of paints. The best techniques I’ve seen use a kind of mottled rust base color with bright and dark rust colors showing uneven.
Then you get some salt and a bit of water and let the salt kinda stick to the surface like you’d see a pretzel or something. And in places you don’t want chipping, you can just wipe the area clean with water and a napkin or something. Then you cover the kit with your desired colors and decals like normal. Then you can use your finer nails or gently use a blade to kind of scrape off the raised areas. It leaves some raised paint and shows the rust underneath. The paint that’s somewhat raised will appear like real chipped texture. You can add extra weathering to make it appear as rust or oils or dirt at dripping out of those spots as well for some added detail

Hope that means less of the cg look to the mecha in the anime. I feel like sunrise has done alright in some of their recent shows giving a more animated than cg look to the mecha despite actually using heavy cg for their mecha in shows like Gundam with a few exceptions
