I guess?  As a kid, I never really explored Star Wars outside of the movies so what little I know about her depiction there is secondhand.  Under Disney, well... she's written as a very good person but also kind of a rubbish leader and an ineffective politician.  She owns a lot of the blame for the First Order emerging and overthrowing the Republic just a couple of years after she left office.

She’s kinda one of those characters that seems ok until they get further into the story and you realize that Disney likes the idea of an incompetent generation, so that they can try and have their new heroes. They basically 💩ed on every major character from the original trilogy and a few lesser characters just too spread the💩around.

Unfortunately that’s the usual cookie cutter treatment for every franchise that Disney touches

Indeed.  Disney is, by no means, the only guilty party in the wholesale destruction of legacy IPs; however, they are, by far, the worst offenders.

That’s true. Amazon somehow ruined Lord of the Rings. But Disney somehow killed Indy, Star Wars, Marvel, Lucas film in general and even their own original stuff.

That has been the case for me regarding Star Wars:  I have zero desire to rewatch the originals and prequals because, thanks to Disney, all roads lead to Jake Skywalker and "wonder" Rey Palpatine; similarly, Marvell has also been severely tainted to the point phases 1-4 have no rewatch value anymore.  Some, a small part, of the sentiment is due to me outgrowing these IPs to be sure, but the bulk of it is due to what those in charge have done to them.  It is actually quite sad just how much they've screwed the pooch -- chasing, and pandering to, the "Modern Audience" and laughably bad writing and execution-- with once guaranteed crowd pleasers and money makers and merchandizing juggernauts... now moribund, easily ignored, husks of their former selves.

I think I stopped enjoying rewatching Star Trek stuff after DS9 and I used to enjoy rewatching Star Wars OG films even after the Disney purchase, but I haven’t done a rewatch after all the shows kinda turned mostly into flops. And now that I think of it, I don’t really rewatch the marvel stuff anymore more either, especially after the legacy of most of the characters seemed ruined for the most part. Might still rewatch The Guardians of the Galaxy films though. Even spider man doesn’t really make me excited much anymore, after a second viewing of No Way Home (the movie that gets worse every rewatch). I think the multiverse ruined those films. Never really cared for the DC stuff anymore, but I’d probably still enjoy a rewatch of The Suicide Squad, but I don’t know how I’ll feel after the reboot films start coming out

When you do get to it be ready for every piece having a seam right down the center. Besides that it’s a very straightforward build so far.

I think that’s why I keep putting it off. Everything is split in half on that thing

Not my cup of tea to be honest but I don't consider these public domain derived slasher flicks any more of a butchery of the original IPs than what Disney has been doing for at least the last half a decade or so; in a way, given their tongue-in-cheek nature, they're FAR less damaging to the classics than abominations like the "live" action Snow White.

That might be true. Most of these slasher flicks are easily forgotten, while a lot of talk focuses on how bad a semi live action remake like Snow White can be. It may actually sour people from even wanting to rewatch the original as a side effect

I'm watching new episodes of Chibi Maruko chan. i ignored it for so many years until i found out Dancing Pompokolin by Captian Jack in Dance Dance Revolution is an Enghlish language version of  the Maruko chan theme song being remixed

    Is that show still going?
I remember seeing that on one of those pbs type stations way back in the 90’s

His namesake grilling contraption made the best gdamn burgers my hallmates and I ever had during my dorm days.  R.I.P. to a legend.

Late 90’s, every house hold or apartment or cramped for seemed to have one. They were so small that they were given out often as Christmas and birthday gifts regularly for a few years.

Am hoping its a completed and transformable figure, as a figuart lookalike has been on my wish list for a very long time

Looks abit stumpy though just like the old school gensis climbers

I’m pretty sure it is transformable, but probably a lot more partsforming for simplicity and looks.

I think it’s looking great and hope they do a lot with the franchise. They’ve done a lot of items from Patlabor and other cool anime and sci fi, so I kinda doubt this is a one and done item

Speaking of similar sounding anime:  I wish they'd do a new MD Geist or something similar. I saw the original some years ago and thought it was pretty good ((if a bit gory).

That was one of my favorites when I was younger back in the late 80’s and early 90’s era of finding those on videocassette in the video rental places. Me and my friends would have watch parties of these kinda movies and ova’s on Friday nights with pizza and popcorn with everyone spending the night and enjoying the brutality. Lots of anime and Troma memories back then.

All our parents just thought we were renting basic Saturday morning style cartoons and would leave us alone not realizing how hardcore some of the stuff was. Anime felt more adventurous back then

  10. I watched a little of this last night out of curiosity. Pretty wild stuff. The theme gets kinda stuck in your head.

The comments on the video itself is pretty fun to translate. A lot of them talk about how they didn’t know what Macross or Gundam actually was until many years later thinking this was their show completely in their youth. It’s actually pretty fun to read them.

    Couldn't find it.

Looking for scale reference as I'm planning to get a Wave 1/100 and Bandai VF-22, and paint them in the same scheme as the HMR VF-0A and display them together.

Here’s the picture treatment put up for the hg YF-19 compared to hmr VF-1IMG_3225.jpeg.5ea57bd504261fa8de6b4b9ece83773d.jpegthe VF -1 hmr is a bit bigger than it should be, but the wave kit would be more in scale with the hg kit.

I don’t think hmr is gonna look too ridiculous, but the hg kits will look better next to the wave kit for sure.

The hmr will probably look a bit on the large size, but not as awkward as a 172 kit would since hmr is somewhere closer to 1/80 or 90. The color scheme will probably look fantastic. Maybe make sure you got enough of the colors you plan to use in case Bandai starts doing some zero kits soon.

Don't mean to double-post, but I have a question for everyone:

After listening to some of the M7 songs on Youtube, it's as I suspected and the M7 music is actually fine, just the audio quality in the show was incredibly crap. Mylene's vocals especially were barely audible, and everything overall was pretty muted and flat. Was this the case for anyone else, indicating that's just what to expect from the stream, or is there perhaps a problem with my setup? (All other shows/movies were fine, BDs sound fine, games sound fine, etc.)

Hadn’t checked on this thread in a bit, but I think Mylene got the Jason Newsted treatment. She tends to be low in some mixes, especially the early episodes before they found their groove. but other episodes she seems a lot louder. I kinda wonder if they were trying to show a difference in sound from when the show first started to when the band kinda got its groove going.

I don’t think I need a third version, but that box art is sooooo good!

I heard ya. Wasn’t planning on buying it, but the box art is so epic that I want that on a wall. This is all hopefully another hint that we’re getting that Nousjadeul Ger
