  1. The problem with this show getting renewed is that most of the people that finished the first season didn’t like it and most people either checked out the first episode and then didn’t come back or people heard from word of mouth that it wasn’t worth it at all. If it just wasn’t popular, but the fan base was all in then it may have been renewed
  2. So far I’m really liking Hawkeye. It’s definitely a simpler kind of story and more grounded than most of the marvel stuff, but it works for this character. And I find myself saying bro too much these days after watching the show, not sure if that’s a negative or a positive
  3. I love the hmr. But I think I’ll like the look of the kit more. The knee joints don’t have the Bandai compromise that puts the joint through the armor. And I always feel happier about a kit than a prebuilt toy. I think that the only thing missing on the kit is an opening cockpit, but I was more worried about the articulation before seeing the crouching pictures. Now the worry is that with all those extra tiny joints in the knee construction, will it be able to hold the weight? I would hate to snap off one of the guns or multiples
  4. Yeah, I’m impressed with what I’m seeing. It looks great and poses well, it may be too small and may be on new years diet from too much turkey, but compared to some of the line art it looks great. I was just looking at some of the line art and most of the regults are kinda from the front angle and don’t look out of place with the kit. Other art and screen shots make the new kit look a bit thin, but given all the inconsistencies this kit looks like it’s fine and should be fun. It’s a good thing it has a stand Incase any of those joints are a bit weak. Hopefully it’s nice and stable. I can’t wait to get mine in the mail and hope the scout and missile versions come up soon
  5. There really was some nice work by all that entered.
  6. So I think the knee joints are here part #2 and 3 and it looks like it has one point of articulation towards the back and one at the front and there’s a deep notch cut into the front to allow even more space to bend. I’d have to see the instructions to get a better look, but I think it’s just clever folding of each joint segment. There appears to be a quadruple knee joint as opposed to the Bandai double
  7. Did they actually do an extending gimmick to get that knee bend? The dang thing looks great
  8. A lot of the old 1/144 kits are getting re released as four packs. They’re pretty cheap and some really don’t look that bad. I may pick up the basic set for the baddies
  9. When I first saw the title of the thread I thought it was an overall discussion about the studio, then realized it’s about one movie. To be honest both probably work here.
  10. I might be more interested in those if they had the pilots. There’s probably gonna be a ps version with all the extras, but the question will be if they get released as a pack or individually
  11. Seems every passed a while back, but the reviews still come from writers that he helped pick on his self named website
  12. The last I heard he had a stroke and face surgery , so he had been staying out of the spotlight. There are still reviews that had been under his name for a while. I’ll have to remember to look up his current status
  13. If the regult is more like 1/100 scale, I wouldn’t be too disappointed. I would just use it with the wave kits. As far as the armored Valkyrie, it’s not perfect, because of the way they are making compromises between the idea that their Valkyrie would be designed for that armor instead of using anime magic to enlarge the feet and hands. I think since they are more of a realistic model company, they chose a route of consistency rather than fantasy. It probably wouldn’t be too difficult to find and modify some rounded gundam hands and add some plastic sheet to widen and lengthen the feet. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing some cool customs of it after it gets released
  14. While jet in the anime wasn’t as dark skinned as some of the other characters I always thought of him as black and the live action version of him in the outfit and with his voice seemed perfect for me as far as casting. Faye didn’t start out as a lesbian in the live action version, but I think the moment she started questioning herself had to to with that awkward tree scene. I mean accidentally giving a tree a happy ending probably would throw everything into confusion. honestly the only character change that truly bugged me was vicious. I also don’t think we needed so much background. As far as anime Americanized adaptation I actually liked the Ghost in the Shell movie and my favorite would hands down be battle angel. Maybe battle angel worked because there was so much story that never got animated that it was more of a comic adaptation
  15. I’m not sure why there are so many color changes on those. I used to think of it as each ship had a standard color and then the commanders got customs, but I really don’t know. The q rau had a few variations of color in just their first couple of appearances. The regult and glaug seemed standard in the series then the movie versions of things had other colors that seemed based on rank for the armors
  16. I don’t think stealth is the example I was trying to set. Maybe more like the original matrix where there’s definitely anime inspiration and turning out pretty good
  17. The beyond global version is really good if you don’t want to paint or get rid of seams. Just a little panel lining would bring it out
  18. I think that another problem is that even though it’s got a sci-fi backdrop, the anime felt more live action than most. The live action version went an awkwardly surreal route and ended up too cartoonish, so it just didn’t quite look right. Comic books are great, but sometimes you can’t make a movie look like the comic if you’re going for a serious show or movie adaptation. It’s sort of an interesting experiment with this show that unfortunately didn’t get the results. This all makes me wonder about what kind of direction the live action gundam will go with. If they don’t have the look of something serious and have a stupid bad guy, then that project will also fail. Maybe the best thing to do is to just hope for live action stuff that is inspired by anime, but not be anime.
  19. The way the armor is, I would be surprised if there were much movement in the knees. There is a bit of space to do some articulation, but I don’t know if hasegawa would go through that much trouble. It would probably require some kind of extending mechanism to get any major knee bends, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
  20. The regult looks nice, but I’m still curious about the knee joints
