Recently Hasbro has become more of an overall entertainment company with seemingly higher interests in films and games. They’ve been outsourcing a lot of their toy brands to other companies lately

Macross is definitely a kids show. We basically call teenagers kids all the time, but they don’t get referred to as children. And I feel that Macross definitely wouldn’t be classified as a childrens show. 99.9 percent of all anime is designed for kids and there are a few rarities that truly are for adults. Visually more are for adults, but the stories are mostly still kids stories. It’s also not a bad thing to be a kids show and shouldn’t be an insult. As far as my thoughts on Dyrl, I love it. I don’t love it as much as the show though, but I still love it. The story is definitely too rushed and things make more sense with being able to see the series first. I absolutely love the animation and think it holds up really well today. Even though I love the Queadluun Rau in the series more, the enemy mecha has a more interesting thing going on with the biomechanics that make them feel more alien. It wasn’t until the recent Hasegawa kit of the Queadluun Rau that I started to realize how much of the designs were so biomechanic. The other thing that I was looking at were many poses in artwork that I didn’t even notice until I was trying to see certain shapes and how much I feel like I’m still discovering rewatching scenes from the movie. There’s also a certain sense of danger in a lot of the scenes. There were some great scenes in the series, but I feel like there was more tension. Overall, I still enjoy the series more than the film and if I knew a younger person that enjoys seeing some older shows or movies, then I would recommend it to them. There are a lot of young kids that do enjoy older stuff, even if most might not be too interested.

General (1/12, 1/18, 1/24 Scale) Action Figures Thread
Big s replied to no3Ljm's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That’s pretty wild for 1/24. Seems they packed a lot of action into a super small figure -
The kit looks pretty good. It’s in my backlog, but for those that just like to snap it up, there’s a lot of pre painted parts. and for those that are used to doing a bit more the seams seem to be in mostly simple spots and repainting those areas doesn’t look too difficult since most of them are marked either by raised or recessed plastic. I couldn’t help cutting the tape and tearing away the tissue paper to check out the parts

I’m really curious about how things are gonna go. Here in C.A. we’re supposed to have only electric vehicles sold brand new in just a little over a decade. I’ve seen a more and more places slowly adding charging stations like malls and some work places. A lot of people currently have electric vehicles, but most still have gas and hybrids. I think the biggest fear for people is the battery charge on the vehicles. I moved to Crestline and when I’ve talked to people about them they’re very hesitant up here. There’s a lot of stories about how the batteries have charging issues during winter weather and it does get pretty cold up here occasionally. Others are worried the infrastructure won’t be set up fully in a decade. It’s definitely going to get interesting for better or worse

I do it seems like an odd one since two full figures for less than a single seems a bit too good to be true

Nah, the others got it. They just don’t want to admit that they got it

I thought it was just an alternate package. I’m ok with two figures though if that is the case. It seems less expensive than their other cloth covered figures since there’s supposedly two I am a bit skeptical over whether there are two figures in one box though and hopefully there are. I guess we’ll find out for sure soon

It’s unfortunate, but Males tend to have an average of around the 70’s whether there’s problems or not. The numbers kinda jump around a bit though. But some do live longer and some that have lived worse. When it’s time to go the best we can hope for is a peaceful night. The family had said that that was how he went. Peacefully in the night and for all the great roles he’s given us, I think that’s a great gift. He will surely be missed, but he has a great legacy to look back on.

The joints are actually very simplistic, but a few kaiyodo toys around the time had similar joint styles. They were barely jointed, but the joint angles made it appear to get very dynamic poses with simple movement. The simplicity kinda made them fun to pose since it felt like no matter what, the pose would end up forced into a cool looking position. There were also some really cool little Devil May Cry trading figures that were similarly made for the first and second games. I think there was another line, but I’m forgetting the name right now

I haven’t seen the actual show, but had seen the pilot a couple years ago along with Helluva Boss on YouTube

Yeah, if sid was a total perv -
I think Bandai did these as 1/100 hg kits to be partsforming since they usually save 1/72 for more of a full transformation gimmick. Kinda like how the hg gundam kits are pretty great to look at and pose, but the gimmicks usually get more elaborate with the larger scales. I do have a feeling that Max Factory may jump on a 1/72 non transforming kit since they have announced a 1/72 vf-19 battroid and they may end up eventually doing plus stuff.

It probably is the wrong thread, but I gotta say that that does look really cool

It took some real confidence for Brainiac to come out back in those days. He appeared on a children’s cartoon and wasn’t trying to hide it at all. Hot pink polo and didn’t even bother with pants. The Legion of Doom was a very progressive organization back then.

The newest wave is a skip for sure. Ugly repaints of cool figures for an entire line. I still want to get a cool og cartoon Cobra Officer and a Hooded Cobra Commander. I wouldn’t mind the second version of Snakeyes or a Dusty either

I snapped up my 19’s to see where I need to deal with seams and such, got my first 21 last week and my Moderoid Orgus this week, but haven’t done anything with those. Glued parts for the Queadluun Rau and wishing I had more time off for these projects

I wouldn’t mind that ball cap. It’s really simple, but cool looking

If you hadn’t have said Scotty, I wouldn’t have known who this was supposed to be. He looks so angry, like he’s tired of everything the red shirts have gone through over the years and is now aggressively starting the infamous Red Shirt Rebellion
