So I‘m just about done with the 3D printing of my first Legioss designed by MaxLab. It’s been a learning process. The orientation of how a part is printed determines so much. I also decided to try to learn to use an air brush, using Vallejo Air Red, but I’m not entirely happy with the final product since the white primer I used made give the red a pinkish hue. Not sure what could be done about it now that doesn’t involve a lot of sanding and repainting. If you guys have tips about how to darken it by say 5% I’m listening.

Holy crap! I thought that was the real deal for at least 5 seconds!

Nice find. The Macross sprites for Macross 2036 on the PC Engine game are so beautiful. Sprite art rules!

Is that James Bond's car/submarine Lotus Esprit from "The Spy Who Loved Me"?

Everytime we are privileged with yet another look at your impressive collection, I ask myself, does this guy really live in Japan? Aren't they all cramped up in cubicle hotels with shared bathrooms and have to be pushed on trains to get to work 5 hours away? I feel liked American media about Japan has lied to me all this time. But seriously, damn that's a wonderous Ghidora. Interesting that they used freedom units for the size reference.

And there's always the Hackintosh option. Hackintoshin' techniques have come pretty far and if you feel brave, are a good way to get a very powerful "mac" for not a lot of money. There is one video related compromise however. Recent versions of Mac OSX essentially dropped support for Nvidia video cards which some workloads require for CUDA support. OSX has pretty much standardized on Radeon cards. Nvidia cards still hold the raw gaming performance lead, but it appears AMD cards aren't as far back as they once were and seem to be targeting more conventional purposes. I actually run an older version of OSX in order to continue to support my GTX 970. OSX thinks it's running on an "iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)". I figure I'll just let it keep on believing that. -

Gotta stay connected to those "Cygnus" Multidrones to protect Walkure. I wonder what the Gerwalk mode will look like.

I just checked out another trailer for this game, hadn't heard of it before. My gaming tastes nowadays are really specific, but I gotta say, what a helluva cast: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/squadron42 "Pushing the boundaries of what's possible in real-time character rendering, Squadron 42 utilizes advanced performance capture techniques to translate all the nuance and power of the award-winning cast of actors including Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson, Mark Strong, Liam Cunningham, Ben Mendelsohn, John Rhys Davies, Andy Serkis, and more to life."- 6831 replies

Very nice indeed. Those of us how first got out VF-1's as Jetfire never had the spring-loaded shooter guns, so to me, that model looks done.

There are a few pieces that people have replicated at Thingiverse, not fastpacks as of yet however: https://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=jetfire&dwh=965e023e71ad5ae Here's a booster scaled at a much smaller size, since it's for a table-top mini game piece, but you could scaled it up in your slicer or edit it in Meshmixer: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3089255 Try searching yeggi.com as well, might find some stray parts on other listing sights. Lastly there's always the photogrammetry option. I was able to use the Trnio app on my iPhone to snap pics of an old Matchbox Invid shock trooper cannon and get that to generate a model many hours later. It was tiny, maybe 5mm, but I scaled it up, and after some cleaning up in Meshmixer, it's hard to tell that it isn't an original part from a few feet away. Up close, however, it's definitely not a good clone. There are other photogrammetry options depending on what kind of computer you have. Good luck.

Whoa, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this was taken in California which leads to a somewhat predictable list of usual suspects.

That does look good. I like that English actress. Think I saw her last in some episodes of Black Mirror.

Hehe, did the same. Actually, I think I like this movie. Could have been so much worse in my book. I don't mind how the whole emperor story arc was wrapped up. God knows the Expanded Universe rode that horse into the ground. This reminds me of that, if done a bit better, given the Johnson/Abrams cruft it had to lug around.

Solo wasn't bad by the way. More a victim of horrible marketing in the wake of the TLA release. Really what were they thinking putting it out so soon after TLA?

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

Still waiting to see the next evolutions of Shin Gojira. Hope Anno Hideaki makes a sequel to that. Still think about the tail regularly. -
When you are finished with it please do share the STL on shapeways, thingiverse or some other site, and post a link somewhere on MWF to it when you do. I have a few simple parts replacement files I'm also working on for older 80's toys and will post them when they are ready. As for topics, there's a couple so far:

Yeah seems like they want make sure nobody get's any ideas: https://www.eventhubs.com/news/2019/dec/17/capcom-files-new-trademarks-darkstalkers-power-stone-dino-crisis-cyberbots-and-many-other-titles-though-there-are-some-glaring-exclusions/ In the fighting game community, there's been rumblings of speculation of rumors of a possible Capcom VS Capcom fighting game, but sadly I don't think Capcom Corporate is ready to throw any money at a fighting title not named "Street Fighter". Chancers are we'll get SF6 before the next Macross Movie or show comes out and then who knows.- 6831 replies

Only criticism I can offer is that I don't see the actors on set waiting for the next take. Also, when's this movie coming out? Toho needs to give you a raise to get it out faster.

Damn, that was good. If I was the studio, I basically just put out some version of that next, perhaps minus the Spengler bit at the end.

So a while back, after seeing no further information on enemy mech releases for the HMR line, decided to price 3D printers and see what models where available and after some quick calculations getting a 3D printer seemed like a no brainer. My painting skills are minimal (particularly when compared to the masters the frequent these boards), but I'm ok with that. Gotta start somewhere. I bought MaxLab's 2 mospeada related models and have now finished printing on their transformable Mospeada cycle and rider. I was learning how to print (have to think about gravity) as I was doing this so the initial output has more than a few rough spots that will require filing, sanding, etc, but here they are. I've also begun printing their Legioss model.
