Any tips for first time 1/55 jetfire conversion?
Mazinger replied to Mazinger's topic in The Workshop!
Thanks. Make me wonder if there's a "trick" besides pressing down real hard on the tape. I got lots of bleed through. This was my number one problem in the end. -

While, I agree that CentOS is fine for datacenters, I don't find it compelling as a desktop replacement. There's plenty of others that have made big strides towards the ease of use most consumers have come to expect from Windows and OSX. If anyone here is curious, I'd suggest downloading and trying the most recent Ubuntu, LinuxMint, or Suse version. -

My gaming needs aren't high, but I find that Crossover Office has given me good results with Street Fighter IV on both Ubuntu and Mac OS X. Now with SteamOS on the horizon, I feel like the non-Windows gaming possibilities are about as good as they have ever been. -
I approve of this post. Damn that's gorgeous!

Any tips for first time 1/55 jetfire conversion?

And here are the final results. Before:After - Front Before:After - Back Before:After - Top The lines aren't as clean as I would have liked them to be, but certain things are a marked improvement. For one, the head looks so much better with the sides of the antenna cannons painted white. Already having fun swooshing it around. -
NUEVA SERIE DE MACROSS ANUNCIADA!
Mazinger replied to Gerli's topic in Animación, Música y Multimedia

Well, here's where the disappointment begins... As you can see from the pic below there are a ton of mistakes. I don't think there are straight lines anywhere. Next up re-assembly. Decals applied, next up, re-assembly. by Mazinger, on Flickr But like I said, this is my first try at painting anything myself. My first tries at other things, like coding, or surfing were also ugly, but I've gotten better at both. -
Personally, I love my 1/72 Yams. Wish that scale had caught on more...

Science and Technology MEGA THREAD

I wonder it they are taking preorders for replacement bodies. My back has been acting up for a couple years and I aint getting any younger. I'd also be up for a lab grown replacement body, but robotics seems to have the lead. -
I know what you mean. That 31A is calling to me something fierce. I might even have to start thinning out my meager collection to make space. Damnit!

Macross World Podcast - feedback & comments
Mazinger replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
Bwahaha , you guys crack me up! Well, while it might not merit an actual ban, I for one, welcome our anti-spoiler overlording. Edit: Just saw what the suspension was about, didn't have to do with Delta Ep. 2, which is what I had initially assumed.- 1147 replies

Well, he's an honorary member. Though I can see why we would be confused, since he's missing his single fast pack and is slightly modified from when he defended the SDF.

I might be in the minority here, but I'm hoping for a solid but cheap toy line out of delta. I'd like a 31 and a draken, but I don't want to be worried that one of my kids might drop it, and oops, there goes $200. I only have a few yamatos, but I am always worried swooshing them around, where as I never mind taking out my bandai VF-17, VF-19, or 1/55's. Sure line art perfection can be awe inspiring, but I don't just want museum pieces. I want toys.

Need help with photo: Yamato 1/60 V2 VF-1D Super Strike
Mazinger replied to microtree33's topic in Toys
Maybe I should file this under the noob questions, but just when in all Macross-dom did the VF-1D sport a strike pack on screen? -
Loose 1/55 VF-1A's are going for around $100 on eBay. MISB seem to be going for $150. About the same for Fockers. Minus super parts.

So I'm well into the process of converting my first 1/55. I've learned that I'm awful at spray painting and am keeping my fingers crossed that the actual paint job comes out better than my primer jobs: Source: The candidate by Mazinger Disasembly / Cleaning: Clean donor parts by Mazinger Primering, with the next candidate looking on: The next candidate, checking out the results by Mazinger -

Dangard Ace, on 29 Mar 2015 - 08:01, said: What do you think the cost of the Fast Packs came to? How much post scan work did you have to do to the models to get them to print? I'm wondering if I could beat the prices I've seen on eBay for fast packs and strike parts ($90 ~ 150) for 1/55 scales. I've also been thinking about how the cost and required skill level of doing something like this compares to trying to mold and clone with resin. I have access to a 3D printer at work, but we don't have a scanner. There is a 3d print shop near me that charges $75 for a scanning session. They set it up, make sure it's well captured. Printing is separate.

Word of advice to Crusher. If you are going with an Intel 1150 socket motherboard, be really careful about how you place the CPU in place. I was used to Athlon processors from years passed with hard, thick pins on the CPU versus coming up from the MB. Bent a few putting my last system together and could never quite tweak them all back into place. Had to RMA the board and get another. Felt like such a n00b. I'd watch a few youtube vids on how it's done just in case. -
Looks like. Professor X is certainly rocking the Crockett look from Miami Vice.

1/55 Swivel Thigh Mod - BIC Pen Method (Streamlined)
Mazinger replied to Skull-1's topic in The Workshop!
So I'm curious, how have the thigh mods held up after 6 years? Have they gone all loosey goosey?
