Him, Max von Sydow, a few others, never really looked young, they just sort of hit middle age fast and then paused.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Mazinger replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, Last Train Home didn't really do it for me, though going by the song's title, I can see the relationship with the end of Stardust. If any of you are interested in music referenced in JoJo's there's at least a handful of decent playlists on Spotify that tackle them, while one other is just openings and endings. Since much of the references are music from the west, JoJo's happens to be one well supported Anime title on there. Anime is that one area where most music streaming services just do poorly in overall. -
Indeed. George Lucas has been quoted in various articles over time stating that the actual inspiration for the rebels came from the fact that the Viet Cong where able to resist the American backed South Vietnamese army. Richard Nixon's re-election campaign might have been the inspiration for the Emperor. The Third Reich stuff was more of the window dressing and cautionary tale about handing power over to tyrants: https://www.history.com/news/the-real-history-that-inspired-star-wars https://nypost.com/2014/09/21/how-star-wars-was-secretly-george-lucas-protest-of-vietnam/ Now I need to scroll up to see just how we got to space Nazis in a thread about Charlies Angels.

Disney’s Little Mermaid Live Action
Mazinger replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Now I'm hoping this movie actually embraces music from the Carribean and takes it up a couple of notches. Give us some new tunes. Just as long as it isn't Pitbull's take on Toto, I'd be fine with it. Also, didn't we already get a live action growns-up Arial in Aquaman? -
Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
Mazinger replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That Miles Morales figure does the movie justice, and that is saying something. I like that they included an alternate facial expression. Would’ve been awesome if they had included a few more. -
Senators receive classified briefing on UFO sightings
Mazinger replied to grss1982's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Is it happening? Is this how it begins? So when Kamujin's ship crash lands in the jungle, there was a Quetzal that gets eaten by some sort of python. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quetzal The Quetzal only exists in certain parts of Central America. Should we all be trying to move to Guatemala to escape the coming Boldolza carpet bombing? Because that would be ironic, no? Also, will Minmei be played in real life in 2019 by Mari Ijima or one of Walkure singers? -

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Mazinger replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm on the latest season of JoJo's on Crunchy roll and it's been a wild ride to say the least. It's just so creative in so many ways. I really didn't know what to expect at first besides dudes fighting with special abilities, but I'm glad I stuck to it. I think this studio has done a good job. Certainly helps that the manga has basically laid out all the plot and even art for them to follow. I'm fearing the inevitable end of this broadcast season because it's gonna be at least a couple of years till we get the next chapter in anime, the manga appears to be at least two seasons ahead. I'll be the roundabout... -

Storm Collectibles Action Figure Line
Mazinger replied to no3Ljm's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's my issue, or hopefully will be, once Storm releases Darkstalkers figs because most of my SF figs are SHF or SOTA which are about 90% in scale. I do have a some older ReSaurus figures which are more like an honest 1/10 or 1/8, but yeah scale is the ongoing challenge...- 299 replies

Macross World Podcast - feedback & comments
Mazinger replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
Damn, I really do hope a video is produced from the Crossover Live that somehow us in the west can get a hold of. UPDATE: What Adrian said about In-n-Out, that's some BS.- 1147 replies

Hmm, that wasn’t all the impressive. My only exposure to the MH world is via Marvel VS Capcom:Infinite, but that looked a bit off.

"He-Man and Masters of the Universe" Film by Sony
Mazinger replied to Mazinger's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Nah, he's been off the project for a while. It also seems like they may have ditched the David Goyer script. Latest directors seem to be Adam and Aaron Nee (“Band of Robbers”) working off a script by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (“Iron Man” and “Men in Black International”). Sony and Mattel seem intent on having something done by 2021. Hopefully it's good. -
"He-Man and Masters of the Universe" Film by Sony

So we have either Prince Adam or He-man cast. Still not sure which: http://www.darkhorizons.com/noah-centineo-talks-playing-he-man/ -
What the story with the toy? Any more information on if that is actually how it was made versus being customized to look like a Phalanx? If that is actually how it was made/sold, that factory needs to open up an aliexpress storefront stat!

And yet here we are, dying for Rook ride armors, Treads, and Captain America's Inbits. I actually think there has been a global uptick in Mospeada interest, but that's just my gut. And of course a small uptick on top of a small amount might not be that noticeable. I do fantasize about an honest Mospeada live-action series from the likes of Netflix though.

My own experience is that the blocks themselves are of decent durability, but the clutch is at best 80% of original LEGO block, meaning they don't hold together as well if played with a lot. For simply "display on the shelf" needs, the sets should be fine. Bionicle KOs, however, are to be avoided. The quality of the plastic is sub-bar. You'll get breaks probably while assembling the set and with repeated use you will have more breaks, I guarantee.

Shanghai Fortress (2019) - New Chinese film with mechs
Mazinger replied to fifbeat's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I wonder how good the book that it based on is. The trailer has the benefit of making this look like the closes we'll get to something like a live-action Macross movie for many years to come. -
