  1. Yeah, people have been colloquially referring to it as a "Stampede" Valkyrie because of the granddaddy Stampede VF-1. (In case you like me didn't know: http://www.macross2.net/m3/macrossga/sdp-1.htm )

  3. To put less of a pissy fanboy spin on that article: "Carrie Fisher's death has greatly impacted Mark Hamill's desire to return to the franchise. 'I don't care anymore on that level [of coming back to the franchise] because Han Solo is gone, Luke is gone,' Hamill said. 'And you just can't get the band back together the way you wanted it to be following Carrie's passing.'" On the upside, that article did link me to this, which gets me giddy: https://animemojo.com/shonen/godzilla-mashes-up-with-the-jaegers-in-a-new-pacific-rim-uprising-collab-poster-a4148
  4. Was the VF-4 always the Lightning III, or was it retconned to the Lightning III after the IRL completion of the JSF program? If the former, what is the Lightning II in the Macross world? If the latter, does Macross canon assume that fifth-gen fighter development was underway leading up to the introduction of Overtechnology?
  5. According to Japanese fans, the basic plot is the same, just super condensed. Spoilers for plot-relevant mecha details:

    Bandai DX VF-31

Remember, it's not just NY that has had problems getting stock of this item. ALL of the online stores had problems getting their stock, with the sole exception seeming to be Anime Export(? I forget the name...). And I forget specifically who, but at least two people here who live nearer to Japan (China and the Philippines) have talked about local stores and customers having trouble getting their toys, too. And now there's this Japanese article, which admittedly is a poor Google translation... So NY shouldn't be blamed for having trouble getting the items; that's entirely on Bandai and whatever production/QC/etc. problems they've been passing off to their customers. What NY should be blamed for, though, is their abysmally subpar customer service. This seems to be a unique scenario that demands a unique response, not the usual clamming up if possible and giving stock answers if not, followed by the "offer" of in-store credit and a threat of reprisal should the customer ask for a refund. Seriously, threatening to cut your other orders and punish your account is fraked up.
  7. I should, but I put that whole mess behind me pretty soon after the refund came. Woosah. Congrats on the haul, though. Now just gotta wait half a year, sell that 31A for $2k, ???, profit!!!
  8. They're not the only one. Only reason you haven't seen mine is because I won't be getting them in for another month or three. Congrats on the 0 Gundam. I'm not sure I like the styling on this one - seems too angular, too much RX-78 Ver Ka - but more 0 Gundam is always appreciated. I'm always surprised how much I like it out of all of Gundam 00.
  9. Not to put too fine a point on it, but this is definitely one movie you should see in theaters.
  10. Just saw it, and goddddd I was so absolutely bored throughout this entire thing. The story was dumb, the world was dumb, the characters and writing were dumb... You can do all the referencing you want - and this movie damn well tries to do it the most - but all of that means squat if you can't tell a good story. The constant exposition, just explanation after explanation after explanation for like the first hour of the movie and even in lengthy spurts thereafter... And none of the references were even all that titillating. Especially the Gundam, it didn't do anything exciting, they didn't incorporate it in any interesting way at all. It was just... there. It was dumb, just like all the other references were dumb. Way way way WAAAAY worse than PR2, which is a crying shame because the effects absolutely blow PR2 out of the water. The compositing in PR2 was consistently terrible, but you know what it did well? Its Gundam reference, that's what. It did a hell of a better job making me go "YOOOOOO!!!!" with its Gundam reference than this movie did.
  11. Personally, I don't like holes or other mounting points as, however innocuous, they still result in an "off-model" model. Hasegawa have recently begun to bundle simple clear stands with some of their kits, and besides looking really nice, they also do their job without compromising the look of the kit itself.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Yep, having gotten my refund from Mykombini I've managed to avoid the consternation most everyone else here has been suffering for the past week or so. I'm feeling much more content with my two 31A kits now, after seeing the suffering I avoided.
  13. On phone so nothing fancy, but this was a great time, you should definitely go see this movie.
  14. Maybe Delta 05 markings? I dunno, I didn't see the movie...
  15. ^ I'll let you know when I see RPO this afternoon. For what it's worth, my impression of Pacific Rim 2 is improving by the day.
  16. Ooh, I didn't even see that. I just clicked on "Add to Cart" right away. EDIT: Also, VF-31F has decals for both Messer and Hayate rides.
  17. HLJ preorder: https://hlj.com/product/HSG65843 Amiami: http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=TOY-RBT-4546 EDIT: VF-31F HLJ preorder: https://hlj.com/product/HSG65844 Amiami: http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=TOY-RBT-4547
  18. Oh frakk yes, I love that scheme, and it's a Ba to boot! Definitely gonna get in on this. (EDIT: By the by, that's a May 31 release date.) Re: the 1/48 VF-1 beneath it, was that out of production or something? I thought they always kept the VF-1 kits on a pretty consistent production rotation because of its popularity? In case anyone else is interested, a quick translation of that area: - YF-19 "Macross Plus" (Egg Plane); Non-Scale; June 7 release/June 10 retail; 1300 JPY - VF-1S/A Valkyrie "Skull Squadron"; 1/48; July 12 release/July 15 retail; 3800 JPY - VF-1 Valkyrie Photo-etched parts; 1/48; June-July; 2000 JPY - YF-19 Photo-etched parts; 1/48; June-July; 2000 JPY EDIT: Has the VF-31F not been released yet? Which variants have now? I think... only the J, C, and A variants have been released? I don't think the VF-31 Super packs have been released?
  19. Everybody's a critic...
  20. A little bit like the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool that's really the runway for Air Force One?
  21. Do SE license their characters to be made by other companies? I know there's a Figuarts Sora from Kingdom Hearts, but I'd imagine most if not all of their stuff they make in-house through their own figure lines.
  22. As opposed to Play being...? Also, up on HLJ now too: https://hlj.com/product/enx33635
  23. Bring Arts Fei Fong Wong up for preorder @ amiami: http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIGURE-038455
