I'd have way preferred a movie about her time briefly teased in Age of Ultron. That sequence stood out as one of the highlights of an otherwise decent but ultimately mid-tier movie. By now, the time for a solo Widow movie has come and gone, methinks. It feels, at least to me, like a Solo movie.

The design showed up (along with 4 others, apparently) in the Walkure 3rd Live "Walkure Won't Betray You" concert this past February. Seems like it's also an available skin or something in the mobile game Uta Macross. The paint scheme was designed by Hidetaka Tenjin himself (Google Translate translates his name as Takami Hidetori).

I watch one video - ONE VIDEO - and I mean hell I don't even watch it, I don't even watch the show the video is about, I SHARE THE VIDEO WITH YOU PEOPLE SO YOU CAN WATCH IT and for weeks on end now Youtube's been recc'ing videos at me until finally I crack and watch this one and what even just what i mean it's pretty funny i guess and mako's not bad so whatever -
I'll try to get some pics tonight or so of my burgeoning collection, too. From memory of what I have... - SQ and Figuarts Zero = ~1/10, 15-18cm - all the various Ichiban Kuji Rankas and Sheryls = ~1/7, 23cm - Ichiban Kuji Klan = ~1/6, 27cm - Excellent Model Klan Miclone = ~1/8, 20cm I think they're sometimes designed them with a lot of empty space both to suggest a larger size of the figure than they actually are and also to ensure they're well-protected. The pose and dress also sometimes play a role; can't have a small box if your dress flares out in every direction (which unfortunately a lot of the Frontier figures do...). EDIT: oh also I ended up having to cut off like 1cm from the longer of the two pegs before the foot could finally touch base. Perhaps this will help the strength of the peg, too, but I'll get back in a year and let you know.

Generally just that it's so bad as to be completely scrubbed and bleached from Bandai et al's collective memory. There have been a few people here and there that have said it's on the so bad it's good tier, but otherwise the fandom seems dismissive and hostile towards it. The thing about those two is that fans LOVE them. Street Fighter fans LOVE the Van Damme movie despite/because of how bad it is. Starship Troopers fans LOVE the first movie despite/because of how absurdly it ramps up the militaristic jingoism. (And in the latter's case, I don't know if it tried to play itself "seriously" so much as, well, ramp up the militaristic jingoism. Paul Verhoeven is fantastic at satire that way.) I don't know if this falls into either of those categories. I think, on the actors' side, that may have been the case; they may have been pulling a Street Fighter-level "just roll with it and have fun" mentality. But I suspect that the Japanese production side of things was approaching this very earnestly, very seriously, and with very serious intentions. They made it one of the tentpoles of their 20th(?) anniversary celebration of Gundam, after all. They were touting it as this revolutionary step forward for the franchise and for the entertainment industry prior to its release. That's actually a really apt comparison.- 3717 replies

Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru GQuuuuuuX

Having just finished G-Saviour, I can say with confidence that it is actually way more fun than the internet had led me to believe (and maybe more than it has any right to be). It starts out really dumb - the plot revolves around a newly-discovered enzyme that's supposed to solve world hunger by "catalyzing a bioluminescent reaction that produces both heat and light" in the Earth's oceans, allowing for deep-sea agriculture - and only gets dumber by the end - the action-packed finale only happens because of a jilted lover, and the bad guys die to a hammy "Nooooo~~!!!!" as their own troops mistakenly fire upon them - but it's the fun kind of dumb, the so bad it's good kind. And I mean, y'know the CGI isn't all that bad for the budget and the time, and the mecha action wasn't half bad, and they managed to make the G-Saviour look, dare I say it... cool. And the actors give it their all, they buy into it 100%... That was a great time.- 3717 replies

Not sure where else to put this. Coulda sworn there was a dedicated music/concert section or thread...? but I couldn't find it. Anyway, the Macross Frontier 10th anniversary concert will feature orchestral arrangements of music from the show, and Megumi Nakajima will make an appearance (though the article doesn't say whether she'll be performing). Performances are on September 8 and 9, tickets on sale July 15. http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2018/07/08/macross-frontier-blasts-off-for-10th-anniversary-orchestral-concert EDIT: also she be looking fine

So thanks to the recent live action Gundam announcement, I'm now watching the entirety of G-Saviour, and I'm having a... good time with it????? Everything I've ever heard about this movie has taught me to instinctively laugh it off, but I'm 20 minutes in, and yeah, it's got its idiosyncrasies, and it looks and feels like an episode of... I dunno, Farscape or something... but all in all, it's actually a hell of a lot of fun so far. -
Because live action from Japan reaches the same level of bad via different paths. but actually watching that for the first time now it's oddly hype wtf and

Saw this a couple days ago with the nephews. We all really liked it. I never saw the original as a classic, so I didn't go in expecting this one to be one, either. It didn't turn out to be one, but it's not bad; it's just an overall good movie. The short before it, Bao, was more interesting. The younger nephew didn't get the metaphor at all, and apparently so didn't a lot of people. I had to explain it to him afterward. (Hint: The dumpling isn't literal.)

Hey all. A few months back @Lolicon was talking about the Excellent Model Miclone Klan in the recent purchases thread after I showed off my purchase. I'm just now taking it out of the box and setting it up and I was wondering if any of you who have it could tell me how/if you got the base pegs to fit into the foot. I see what they're saying about the pegs being weak, but they also seem to be too long for the foot to begin with; I can't fit the foot onto the base at all. Did that happen with you, or did you go straight to the broken peg and glue phase? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Does anyone here enjoy David Cage games? I don't, and the release of his new game Detroit: Become Human irritates me to absolutely no end. I keep hoping his games fail and people collectively recognize how much of a hack he is, and I'm continually disappointed.- 6837 replies

...I'm getting a real Gundam Wing vibe from that promo... I hope not, I really do, but I also think so, I really do. (watch it be g gundam yoooooo)

Yes, and I've pilloried and will continue to pillory them for it, but the new kits they pull out of a hat always distract me long enough for them to make a getaway. One day... Could they possibly have been floating the idea of a transforming model? The design sketches they showed were of its transformations.
-
Hm... the weapons appear to be the same as included in the Hasegawa VF-1 weapons set. Reaction missile might be slightly different, but otherwise I think the older kit would probably work just as well (and maybe look better? Dunno.). As for the next project, I'm all in for a VF-171. Hell to the frakking yes. But what about Battroid mode VF-4 first? And Gerwalk? Come now, you can't just leave the trifecta un-trifected.

Yes they are. I wasn't too keen on the alt-colored one at first, but once it showed up the colors really grew on me.
