I just received a notification email for an Ebay order that was shipped via DHL saying that my order was delivered today around noon... which is obviously impossible, because neither DHL nor USPS are delivering on Memorial Day. I'm hopeful it's just some sort of weird clerical error and the item'll be in the mailbox tomorrow, but assuming it isn't, what would be my recourse? Just contact the seller, have them either trace the item with DHL or issue a refund? It's a cheap little thing, only like $20 or so, but I'd rather just have the thing than have to fish about for an alternative. The only tracking number I received from the seller was a USPS one, which made tracking via the DHL site a no-go; I have no idea what the waybill number might have been.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!

Been meaning to ask this for a while. @slide shared a bit ago this pic comparing the VF-4A and G (from IIRC Master File). Is this accurate, or just something they made up in lieu of any "canon"? Is this a Hornet/Super Hornet, Fighting Falcon/Viper Zero (USAF F-16/JASDF F-2) situation? -

You can tell they're all related, though. They all transform very similarly. Their "trunk" sections are basically the same. Part of the reason why the Draken III was such a big draw to me was because of how different it was from the YF-24 derivatives in terms of its overall shape and how that affected its transformation. IIRC, the original pitch for Delta was two competing civilian flight demonstration/idol groups, which I would have vastly preferred to what we got. The VF-31 and SV-262 could even still feature as the two sides in a neighboring war that the main story gets dragged into or something. But have the demo teams flying non-VFs or civilian VF-1s/-4s or even VF-9s, that definitely looks the most "trainer"-y of the various VF designs. Bah. Anyway. -
I frickin' love this channel.

Yo that's real nice. Couldn't put in some actual mirrors, though? 0/10 Welcome to the forums, enjoy your time here.

The GN-U Dou YF-19 remains the best rendition of its battroid mode. The toys based on CG models almost seem like cheating, they're too spot on.

In case any of you were feeling nostalgic for Cowboy Bebop: -
That is beautiful stuff. It occurs to me now that I've never been airborne, ever. Gonna need to rectify that right quick...

https://files.catbox.moe/lri66x.webm I'm sure this scene makes sense in context, but boy is it goofy as hell.

Okay, so this IS a sequel, then? Not another standalone (hurr) universe? I know the "SAC" would imply it's set in specifically the SAC version of GitS, but just asking for sure.

Would there really be that much of a difference between the A and G? They're not a Hornet/Super Hornet situation... right?

Apparently there's a graphical bug, though. Or, well... Anyway, outside of the first reactor mission, it seems that in outdoors areas the game has a habit of loading in low-res textures and skybox/matte paintings. This isn't an asset streaming/LOD issue, which does also exist. But the streaming issue is common to all UE4 games, and most modern games in general. Objects eventually resolve into higher-resolution textures if you stand by them for long enough. But low-res textures that stick around makes it seem like they're the actual default textures that SE went with. The flowers in Aerith's house are probably the most noticeably low quality. You'll get cinematic camera angles that really focus on them, and they're... they stand out. It might be a graphical bug, which might be patched out eventually. Maybe just an LOD setting wasn't set right or something. For skyboxes... maybe the same thing? It might also be evidence that the game was being worked on with PS5 in mind. The higher bandwidth RAM and SSD of the PS5 means higher-quality textures and backgrounds can be streamed in more quickly. In order for them to get the same game running on PS4, they would have to scale back heavily on the data streaming, meaning much lower-quality textures as the default. That's my theory, anyway. Maybe if they hadn't put so much effort into modeling every pore of the main character models...- 6837 replies

This is just a bit of random Star Wars trivia that popped up in an otherwise unrelated video, figured you might like it. Video should start right where it needs to, but in case it doesn't, the timestamp is 4:49.- 326 replies

Well, while we're on the subject of FFVII: The video gets some details wrong, but otherwise it's a pretty neat video if you have... an hour and a half to spare. I have zero faith in Tetsuya Nomura and modern Square's ability to match the storytelling of the original game, and from what I've seen of the Remake, they truly lived down to my expectations.- 6837 replies

You joke, but... Now obviously she doesn't die, this game is just up to the point where they leave Midgar. What could possibly warrant spoiler warnings in this first 10% of the story, right?- 6837 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
kajnrig replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hm... Figure I'll ask here in case anyone can point me in the right direction. There was a super robot anime released a couple years ago apparently that had, during its climactic event, cameos from a bunch of other super robot shows. They may have been in silhouette or something, but they showed up and did their signature attacks or something, and it was very obvious what they were. There was even a Gipsy Danger expy there. I don't know where such a scene might have come from, or even if that's really what happened, it was just something I heard on a podcast. Anyone know of anything in recent years that might fit that description? -

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
kajnrig replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Checked out Beastars on a whim. I'd heard some of the hubbub about it but it didn't really seem like the thing for me, but I figured eh I just finished Castlevania, may as well right? And like four hours later I'm writing this in a rush because holy cow that was a great watch. The character work is the absolute best part about the show, all the little nuances that each character exhibits. Before checking it out, a lot of the discussion I was hearing centered on how it catered to the furry crowd, what with the anthropomorphized animals and all, and to be sure the anthro sexuality is pretty brazen, but even if that's a major concern of yours there are so many other good things about the show that you'll grit your teeth and power through it. Really good. I was actively watching it from start to finish (which sadly is more than can be said for some bits of Castlevania season 3), highly recommended. -

http://www.macross2.net/m3/macrossplus/macrossplus-index.html That's probably the best we've got. You'll have to do some sleuthing through all of them to see which ones fit your criteria, but IIRC the list should be pretty thorough. -
I thought the prequels laid it on pretty HEAVILY that Anakin was a Christ figure, especially with the whole prophecy thing and Sidious's stupid immaculate conception story and all. Not sure how you could see it any other way. IIRC Qui-gon asks her who Anakin's father, ie birth father, was, and she replies, "There WAS no father," which on retrospect, yeah, she was a slave, and it's not out of the question that there's a different connotation to her words, but... follow-up signs don't really point in that direction.
