Hey, you never know. Maybe that charger recharges the missiles, too. Yep. (Not gonna lie, though, that sounds like such a dumb cool idea.)

Movement, turning, etc. are tuned differently for both. Halo has always been a console shooter, and the slower turning speed helps to compensate for the reduced accuracy of an analog stick. Up 'til like Halo 4 or 5, too, the games tended to run at 30 frames per second. Doom is impressively well-adjusted for consoles, but I have the feeling it was developed with PCs in mind, thus having a higher default turning speed. It also plays at 60 frames per second, which tends to make things "feel" like they're moving faster, especially if you're used to mainly playing Halo. Then there's the FOV... I don't know what the exact FOV values are for both franchises, but I would imagine that Doom has a higher FOV than Halo, which would also present the gamer with more on-screen information, making things seem even faster-paced.

Tangentially related question: Why does Robotech merchandise continue to draw from its inspiration series (and really only one of them) instead of promoting original creations? I mean, I know the reason why, but if HG were really interested in pushing Robotech, you'd think they would try to and integrate their original creations more and more into the merchandise. Make stuff of the Shadow Chronicles stuff, I think that's the latest animation to come out of that franchise. This constant rehashing of the VF-1 is all well and good for us old folks, but honestly it's franchise suicide. If putting "TURBO" on your cars makes them go faster, does that mean putting "VF" on your VFs make them more variable? You might be onto something there...
-
Part of the merchandise, maybe, but it was never part of the "official" design as far as I'm aware, and even the merch had the good sense to get rid of it by the time the Yamato toys and Hasegawa kits came out.
-
The "VF" ON THE LEGS looks awful to me. This is Macross, not Gundam, we're smart about our decals.

Converting that VF-171 sticker sheet into a set of decals. First set of tests, decals 15-18 I'd love to be able to raster-ize these instead of having to resort to fixed pixel count images. Anyway, these are at 600ppi and can be printed out at 600dpi. Resize it -50%, change the ppi to 300, and you should be able to print it out at the correct scale at 300dpi. (If I'm getting that conversion wrong, let me know, please.) The black borders are there to mimic the borders of the clear parts of the stickers, to make DIY decals easier to cut out. I'd imagine you don't really need to follow them, just make sure not to separate the gray pattern thingies from the white.

There's something to be said for whether you want to get rid of seams too, or not. If you do, that further complicates the build/paint process. You might be able to get away with priming/painting on the runner, if the gates are smartly placed in areas that will either get covered or are otherwise out of sight. (Like if the parts are undergated, for instance, though my impression is that the GM Sniper II is not undergated.) Otherwise, yeah, taking them off the runner and painting them shouldn't be too much trouble.

Macross Δ (Delta) Movie Gekijō no Walkūre (Passionate Walkure)

For my part, I just thought he was boring. I thought all of the Aerial Knights were boring. It's hard for anyone to be obnoxious when the only reaction they can muster out of you is utter apathy.- 810 replies

To be fair, the modified sensors on the -31A do look like they could be easily facsimiled with a simple paint job. They even have the panel lining to suggest where the extra-long sensor would be on the custom models.

Last one for tonight. Sticker sheet, 300ppi. Best to contact me for the 600ppi (4mb) file so you can make out the cut lines, or even better, the 2400ppi (53mb) one. I'll transfer the individual stickers to a different backing and try to make raster files, or at least better-quality, full-color (non-dotted) pngs from scratch. I'd also be able to provide -31A decals, though it seems my scanner bed is dirtier than I'd like. Lots of little bits and pieces everywhere, even after cleaning it off with a microfiber towel.

I kept scrolling down about to post what each of you said, in that exact order.

While I'm cleaning out the closet, would people like scans of the sticker sheets? I'd been meaning to scan some of the Mecha Colle kits' sticker sheets but never got around to it. Since the markings sometime extend beyond what you actually use, I was thinking of transferring them to a contrasting background and scanning the result. Yay/nay?
-
Bandai 1/72 SV-262 Draken III Roid Deculture Ver. Unfortunately, it's a flawed scan because the decal sheet got damaged on the way to me. You can easily see where the sheet has been creased. I originally scanned it at 600dpi and downscaled it to half size. If anyone wants the original 600dpi png (~40mb file size), let me know. I might try to clean up the image. If I do, I'll post an update. EDIT: Bad scan, the top got cut off. Bah. Be right back. EDIT 2: There we go.

Ach, dang it, I'm thinking you must be right about that. Fiddlesticks.

Thanks for the clarification. A few pages back, I could swear someone mentioned CDJ had stated an October 21 deadline, and I asked about the other stores and got the answer that only NY would continue accepting preorders beyond that date, which spurred me to place a preorder with Mykombini before I necessarily would've wanted to. I dunno. But anyway, thanks again for clarifying.

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

Ace Combat 7 is coming out in... February? January? of 2018, so a few months from now. It's looking pretty sweet, we have a thread on it around here. Some pretty sick trailers, and it has VR support, too, because of course it should. Also, I didn't realize Kaiyodo were doing movie vehicles now. Looks pretty neat. -

Two caveats: 1) That's Ace Combat Infinity, a free-to-play game on the PS3. 2) I don't think this cameo is available anymore. I think it was a promotional thing for a Godzilla anniversary or something, maybe the new movie. -

Rick Hunter used Missile! It's not very effective... -
So are the preorders still open for the 31A, then? Was the CDJ deadline just a fluke?

Ohhhh, that explains it, then. I saw the twin cannons and remember seeing a similar weapon on one of the newer Mecha-G revisions, so I thought that must have been it. Cool poster. -

Very nice! When did Mecha Godzilla become a Super Sentai machine? I only remember the old 60s/70s Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla, and only ever seen snippets of the newer depictions of MG. -

Just an FYI for shameless self-promotion: I'm selling some Gundam kits, Kotobukiya kits, etc. All snap-built, going cheap to make room. Feel free to peruse. The Dragon Momoko "Metal Build style" Exia is there as well.- 6025 replies
