So I'm two episodes into the mirror world and I'm already tired of how caricaturally evil it is. EDIT: Is it ethical and/or within Starfleet protocol to seed an uninhabited celestial body with alien biology?

The kana specifically say H25 Sky Blue, if that helps. (And H35 Cobalt Blue.)

I dunno, it looks like an exact copy of a Metal Build stand to me. And IIRC, both 1/100 Gundam models (with some finnagling) and MBs can fit on the stand.

That's rough. Good luck fixing it. Polystyrene plus thinning by 2mm plus a too-direct heat source (such as a hair dryer at close distance) equals this sort of localized warping. Heating up the entire thing, very slowly, to a lower temperature MIGHT work better. I remember the old Bandai Evangelion kits had polystyrene arms that you could bend by putting it in hot water and then slowly bending to the desired bend. Edit: Maybe packing the back side with clay prior to heating will also help it maintain its shape. A thought.

New Macross TV Series in 20xx (sometime this decade)
kajnrig replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
IIRC, the competing team to the Walkure+Delta combo was also supposed to consist of an idol group (or more likely a boy band) and demo team. I suspect that the AK might be amalgamations of those ten or so preexisting designs, which explains why they're almost all such bishie types. Make their rivals a group of Meltrandi idols piloting new transforming power armors. -
If she's inconsistent, it's because she's always (or usually) presented as being right; or rather, the writers want us to sympathize with her, even in those cases where, if we take a step back, we see how much her actions might contradict each other. Such as... Yeah, that was a pretty fraked up strategy. I can sort of see the ways they could rationalize it - the battle wasn't over despite what the Klingons thought, and so the Shenzhou was (were?) taking advantage of a strategic miscalculation, not necessarily rigging the dead for a "nefarious purpose." It's a flimsy rationale, though, and when they just went ahead with the plan without a single protest... yikes.

Apparently she's actually Malaysian . I'd only ever seen her Chinese films, I didn't realize. She was in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and its sequel. She plays a bit role in the GotG films, too, as one of the... original Guardians? I never understood what they were referencing with her, Stallone, and the other Ravagers. She has a long career in wuxia films, too, and became really well-known for performing her own stunts. She was part of that same 90s wave of wuxia movies that gave us Jet Li, Donnie Yen, et al. She starred with Li in Tai Chi Master and headlined the movie Wing Chun (with Donnie Yen in supporting role). One of the sillier movies of hers I remember really liking was The Heroic Trio, a sort of campy superhero flick set in the... 1940s? and its sequel, Executioners. These are all films from decades ago, so their actual quality might not match up to my memory of them. There's also this gem:

I didn't know about the Captain spoiler, THANKS VERY MUCH! -_____- (I jest, I suspected as much.) But I'll be honest, the Emperor Georgeau spoiler was what pushed me to finally watch this show. Michelle Yeoh, man, I've been watching her movies since the early 90s. I think of her as like my cool Chinese kung fu mom.

I dunno, I vastly prefer the Plus movie to its OVA counterpart, and the Frontier movies told an arguably more focused story than the series did. That's at least 2 out of... 6? 33% ain't bad.- 810 replies

I know I'm late to the party, but I always like time loop stories. That said, I get what people have been saying that the show, at least these first seven episodes, get kind of same-y. Maybe it's just because I'm bingeing them, but the focus hangs a bit too much too long on the main character, with too little time spent on the rest of the ensemble. Makes her seem like a bit of a Mary Sue, though with a more balanced treatment she wouldn't be. Still, it's not enough of a detriment to undermine the whole thing. It's still a fun ride so far. EDIT: Them basically re-hashing Q though is kind of... uninspired. I don't know much about Trek, but I do know enough about him through osmosis that this performance makes my eyes roll just the slightest.

The computer and electronics super geek thread
kajnrig replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
There was the HP Envy x360 2-in-1 that released a couple months ago, which featured the mobile equivalent of these chips (R7 2700U, 4-core/8-thread, Vega 10). It also performed pretty well, though it was hampered by the Envy itself, which had a subpar battery, screen, and cooling. If the 2400G or 2700U were in a beefy chassis, I could see them really being able to stretch their legs. -

Actually, suspicion is landing more on DRAM prices nowadays than cryptomining. Since all memory modules (DRAM and VRAM) are made by only three companies, either they're artificially raising prices (which has been criminally investigated in the past, I think...?) or it's getting harder to source/produce memory. In other news, the Ryzen 2200G and 2400G APUs came out today, and all indications are that they're extremely good entry-level gaming chips. Some driver/compatibility optimization needs doing, of course, but they're definitely compelling products. I'm all but certain I'll use these in a couple simple builds with the nephews to play Overwatch on. Time to go parts hunting. -
So this trial really isn't selling me on their "limited ads" service. So far this has been the exact same experience as watching the show on TV, with only marginally fewer ads. Anyway, this first episode was decent. I'm no big fan of Trek - the only show I've seen is Voyager when it was airing, and the fandom hasn't been kind to it in the years since - so I can't speak to how well it adheres to "canon," but I think it's fine so far.

All Things Videogame Related: EXTREME VS!!

https://www.dualshockers.com/xenogears-artists-20th-anniversary-figure-artwork/ "Ishigaki-sensei also contributed by showing what appears to be a drawing overlayed to a prototype of a figure of Fei’s Weltall, alongside the artwork used to create it (third and fourth pictures). He also mentioned that it’s “coming soon,” encouraging fans to wait just a little more." HNNNNNNNNGGGHHHH --- In other news, I spent the past five hours or so playing DB FighterZ with my friends. I got the hang of it almost immediately and went UN. DE. FEA. TED. Really awesome game. I won't get in-depth time with it until my copy gets here, though, which leaves me with some time to build up the thirst again. I also picked up a fightstick alongside the game - Newegg was (is?) having a DBFZ giveaway with certain fightsticks, so I went with a Qanba Crystal. The order was placed yesterday, and showed up this afternoon. How they managed that, I don't know, but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. It's a nice stick from what I can tell, though I haven't had much experience with them in like fifteen years or so. I actually got it for SFVAE, not DBFZ. DBFZ played really well on a controller, but I've never been able to play SF well on a gamepad. Something about using the shoulder buttons as regular attack inputs just never sat well with me.- 6837 replies

I'm gonna find me some examples now, because you've just piqued my interest in a major way... EDIT: But anyway, from all I've heard, these are all well-regarded kits. They all shared parts (I think the legs?), and all had some really interesting individualized details.

They were talking in the movie thread that the characters seemed to have gotten breast enlargements, but this looks like Makina got hers downsized. The horror!!! Anyway, that armored pack looks goofy as sin. I was never a fan of the Super parts, and slapping giant missile launchers onto the front of those boosters only emphasizes how off-balance they look. Everything else is fine, it's literally just those parts plugged onto the wing roots that completely ruin the design. The Armored 25, everything fits nicely with each other. Here I get the feeling that they just jury-rigged a whole bunch of parts onto the back and arms and hoped for the best. The fact that the missile launchers connected to the wing boosters aren't centered also just... bothers me.
