I think most of us know what risks we were taking or what we are walking into when we ordered. And like someone said above, you can always hedge your bets with an order in the first couple days from Manda or somewhere at a slightly marked up price. I blame Bandai and this PO madness for forcing some of us to take risks with our POs, just to maximize our chances of securing one.
-
they're up to 28,490 now, haha.
-
Yup I think I got in on the first wave at 17,800 yen. For some reason I think that puts me in the highest risk category now, lol

Comic relief break: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B08C3GRZ4P/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=AN1VRQENFRJN5&psc=1 scalper prices have come down on AJ by 500 yen! Now only 34,500!

Having been scammed by Chinese ebay sellers a few times before, I am not too worried about not being able to get my money back through my CC company. But Lolicon is right that the signs are all out there - they are now on to the 6th round of price increase now (26,490 yen), and there's no sign of stopping...
-
I will be actively looking for a backup PO at a price hopefully below 25k before or on release day, just in case my PO gets cancelled.
-
If that's the game they are playing, it is a very dangerous one indeed. But do note that some fellow MWF members have warned us about them before, and so you need to know what risk you are taking to PO a high-demand item with them. I hope everything works out for all of us who PO'd this with them. Time will tell.

I think I buy into the theory that Macross products just isn't Bandai's thing, and they make only enough to meet the small market compared to gundams. The HG situation does not help either surely. But most important of all, and this is only my impression and I wish I could prove it, is that there are just more scalpers out there more than ever. Perhaps the extend of scalping can be "measured" by looking at how quickly the second market prices dip as we get close to release date.
-
I want to shake your hand sir because that's almost exactly what happened to me. I got in on nin-nin at 17,800 (and now my worry meter has gone up since they are on their 4th or 5th round of POs), and failed with amazon exactly because of the two factor authorization....
-
Thanks for the extra option. I am sure it will help someone. It's just that personally, I believe that the first week second market price will be a little bit below $282, but you have to jump on it fast in say the first or second day of release. Option and time costs.
-
It is a real risk, because they appear to have like 4 or 5 rounds of PO with tiered pricing. If I were them, it would be an easy thing to do to cancel the cheaper POs and go with the later ones, so if you're at $225 I don't think you have as much to worry about anyway, haha
-
I hear ya. It sure seems to be leaning that way. Will just have to deal with them if that happens.
-
it is somewhat concerning that they appear to have more stock allocation than most of the other sites, and that they are doing this step-increase in prices by the minute. Makes those of us who got in on the earlier waves feel a bit more risky... oh well.
-
24.5k is not a terrible mark-up... so for those who didn't get lucky with the PO, your best bet is to look on Mandarake or YJA the first couple of days and snatch one at around that price range if you can.
-
good for you! well done!
-
Yeah that was what it was like during my first PO, the YF-19 FSP. The DX VF-1J was also a breeze compared to this one. Amiami didn't crash, and even allowed 2 per customer
-
Amazing price and shipping charge. Can't be beat!
-
agree - that seems to be the most stress-free back up plan to get one at reasonable after-market prices. If it's any indication, again from memory, the first week price ranges on Manda were: VF-1J = 25000-28000 yen VF-1A = 23000-25000 yen VF-1S DYRL (I didn't follow this one on week one. But i think it went at around 28-30k for a while)

Not an official count, but only based on impression from following this thread for the last 40 mins, it seems that the success rate for PO has been reasonably high on amazon.jp or nin-nin.
-
That's all third party sellers' prices. As we get closer to release date, you can either (a) get lucky to see an official Amazon.jp listing at the MSRP with international shipping, or (b) the scalpers will compete and lower their prices to something more palatable.
-
Man, so sorry about that. Such a let down especially after waiting all night for them to open.
-
won't let me order again - fair enough and expected. But TY for the link! Good luck!
-
gosh, really? wow. Can we take a count of the success rates at each retailer so far? 1. Amazon JP 2. Nippon Yasan 3. Amiami 4. CDJ 5. Nin-Nin game 6. Hobby Search (?) 7. any others?
-
AJ is probably the most reliable of the whole lot of them, with (arguably) the longest window of availability, measured in seconds...
