I have been thinking about that too, and agree with using Velcro over zipper, which was oversized, and prone to breaking anyway.

I think this photo shows us the difference between the Arcadia original (left, with the slightly thicker material), and the two on the right (KO version). You can see the profiles of the original and the "optimized" KO are slightly different. For reference, here's the link to the original: http://arcadia.ac/products/detail.php?product_id=179 I suspect they have tweaked the shape of the front edge of the stand to accommodate more models including the DX line, hopefully without compromising too much the stability for VF-1's (which the stand was originally designed for.

I wouldn't mind a TV version VF-1S with super parts actually. And a Q-rau with a Max 1A to replicate the fight within Macross would be nice too...

I just looked at the Aliexpress description in English: Buy the Marcross Arcadia yamato dx super alloy 60 series universal bracket for free gift 4pcs bottom non-slip gasket. Based on Arcadia published bracket version, Arkbird bracket has been optimized and can be used for VF-1, 19, 21, 22, 25, 29, 171, 31 and other models, except VF4, SV51 and SV262. More quantity, more discount. It seems to be based on the same original Chinese description above, so at least I don't think I've made any mistakes in my translation then. Haha.

hey thanks @seti88, I ordered 2 sets of five from taobao and all-in, with international shipping, I paid around 50 USD for, so I think the Ali Express price is comparable. You may even save on the first user $1 shipping discount. From the taobao link, I see a lot of pics with different 1/60 VF's mounted on the stand, even the Bandai DX line. From the taobao description, I think the black pads come with the package that you can attach yourself.

For some of the TF Masterpieces, the KO actually surpasses the original in size and quality (think the MPP-10 with the extra metal chest parts and larger scale), and moral issues of buying KOs aside, as a collector, it benefited the community in the short term by cutting out scalpers on the originals. In the long run, it remains to be seen if KOs will kill demand for the originals that Hasbro may drop the line altogether. I hope not, but we shall see.

Thanks guys! I was hesitant because the Yahoo Auction sat at the opening price of 20k yen for the full 3 days it was available, so either I was overpaying, or if there's something wrong with the set that I didn't spot in the pics. Anyway, I decided to take a risk and went ahead anyway. And this is not that long after I bought a (sealed, box damaged) Monster from Manda for another 18k before shipping... but at least I now have most of the HMRs that I wanted to get anyway.

I have to say I have been quite impressed with the standards of KOs these last couple years. But the Arcadia KO still fell short of a decent replica (try fitting the GBP to it to see what I mean lol). I will be curious to see how the 31J kai turns out, but they will be stupid not to do a 31A KO.

Wow. Is the DX 1J *that* expensive now? Last I checked at Manda they were about 33-35k last month. But still. 35k is double the price some of us paid at PO with the discounts going on at amiami, they were going for 16,480 yen iirc.

Absolutely agree. For years before I started collecting valkyries, I only had the one 1/48 Focker. That valk in plain fighter mode with no SSP was absolutely bloody gorgeous. i really want to get myself a woodland colour VF-1A now... -

I just bought a pair of Glaug and Regult (used, but in good condition) from YJA through Buyee. The auction price was 20k yen, with another 1700 yen on fees etc. All in cost, with another 1,890 yen in SAL shipping, came to just under 24k yen shipped. Not the cheapest, but at least I managed to secure them finally. Can't wait for the shipment to arrive.

"Greed" sums it all up very nicely. What we had seen in the MP line is interesting, in that KO has effectively flooded the market with extra supply. Scalpers, after getting burned, retreat from that market. Disregarding the moral question of KO's in the first place, and speaking purely from a collector's point of view (and one that doesn't plan on selling his collection), this is great. However, I don't see that happening so quickly with Macross figures - the design requires super accurate tolerances and as we have already seen in the recent Arcadia KO VF-1's, the quality just can't match the original version at all. If the choice is only between feeding a scalper and supporting a KO line, I might lean towards the latter because at least many collectors will be able to benefit from the increased supply in the market that drives away the scalpers. Yes it's a blatant infringement of copyrights and yes the money should belong to Bandai in the first place, but if they are not answering to the excess demand, the market takes over and we are left with the less of the two evils to choose from. Hope that makes sense... just venting my frustration on the whole situation as well.

On the topic of cancelled preorders, in the last round (DX VF-1J) of PO madness, which companies cancelled on peeps? Just HLJ? Or Amiami as well? Did any other of the "major" vendors cancel anyone's orders? Sorry I lost track.
