  1. They are normal missiles with deploying fins. You'd have an ejection charge then when the main motor fires it forces the fins to deploy. I've had many an hour searching for parts with a grid square search and metal detectors then having to write investigation reports after things went pear shaped and fins didnt deploy correctly. They aren't meant to be banana shaped or fish shaped. Guessing the idea in the artist head was the VF-4 already struggles in atmosphere, so moving the guns from a hand cannon to nacelles aids aerodynamics, why not blend in the Missiles as well.
  2. I've seen blue and also camo vf4s with blue and camo missiles...lol
  3. So I have a question on all the models I've seen of the VF-4 while I work on mine... No one treats the 12 long range recessed missiles on the airframe as missiles. Everyone seems to paint them the same colour as the airframe. Any reason? Ordnance is generic and never painted to match any weapons platform. They are usually white, grey, green or yellow and if its a prac round its blue. The striping colours refer to the type of warhead carried and its intended role. So, do people not realise these items highlighted in red in the image below are actually weapons and not blisters on the airframe?
  4. I'm using banks of 120mm PC fans on mine. I've sprayed them in silicon to aid cleaning off any paint particles that get through the filter elements. Four fans across and three high for 12 fans at the back all run off a cheap old PC Power supply. $10NZD a fan ($6USD) is not too bad. The fans are on a slide tray that lifts out for cleaning or replacing and the filter element is on a separate slide tray in front of that.
  5. Liking the LED work Here is some inspiration for you https://nicholassagan.wordpress.com/ https://nicholassagan.wordpress.com/2015/04/20/commission-12256-mc-30-frigate-done/
  6. I price of being in the NZ Army ... we have to make a lot of our gear to fit the jobs we need done. My old IEDD ANDROS Robot had an auto shotgun and four 20mm disruptors fitted so we wouldn't have to bring it back to the van each time we fired. Remotec, the US manufactures thought we were mad. The NZ Army way... if we cant buy it or afford it we make it Failing that, just make the case in that shape to go round an existing tablet or phone

  8. I'm building a bunch of VF-1Ds as successor fighters to the F/A-18 series and E/A-18G. Same squadrons and colours as the current Hornet ones.
  9. Looks like a blister was made on the Phalanx pods to fit into the Superpack bar thats on the backpack.
  10. Thinking a Wild Weasel/Growler style fighter would be a cool one. Radar jammers, VF-1D nose for the extra seat/Warfare officer, VT-1 wings for the wingtip pods, Reaction missiles for the picket ships it runs into and the extra boosters to bail out for home once the front door has been kicked in and the path is clear for the rest of the strike force. Painted in Lo-viz The idea would be for the them to sneak in, blow a hole in the picket ships and run for home. So to assist in this mentality, removing the gun pod for two center line Reaction missiles would make sense and discourage unwanted heroics. Should things get dire they can have the arm launchers on the super packs switched for arm mounted cannons. Transforming into Gerwalk or Battroid mode to use them would mean ditching the pods so the mission would be blown at this point anyway. This way the key to success would be to run in, dump the ordnance and hit the boosters for home asap with no distractions along the way.
  11. For the LEDs, after you mount them in the ali channel (needed to act as a heat sink otherwise they will die off) and fitted the clear cover over the strips, use cheap cellotape over the cover as a "tearoff". Just turn over each end of the tape so you can peel it off after spraying to remove any paint on the LEDs and have a clean cover again.
  12. make one. You can get Adruino products to make it into a working Tablet too
  13. ahhh to its a long range Fast pack mod. The bottom unit is just a giant auxillary fuel tank and extra booster. It switches out the missile units for the fuel tanks. It'll be the fastest unit out there in a straight line too. Be a good mod for a stealthy Elint Seeker. No transformations without jettosining the units first though as they will foul the arms in Gerwalk and Battroid modes.
  14. Will you be running male AND female voices for the Valk units and Male voices only on the Zentran and Female only on the Meltran?
  15. just discovered the HM:RW offer so buying into that today!
  16. dont...lol the animation is all over the place. Its really just best guess at this point and how your minds eye sees things. I'm used to seeing vehicles and picturing the crew space (in order to best attack that point and determine what equipment and voids would be between my shot and my target location, especially given how much a Nato SS109 rd loves to deviate on passing through panel steel, lowered glass window, internal door lining, seat material then finally the target!) so when I look at the pods... they just HAVE to be bigger. Afterall, Kamjin was suited up inside the Glaug in an F1 Racer seating position comfortably, not too cramped at all. Heres are some images that mess with the theory of Valk vs Zentran heights... And the Rau in this image is in the background behind the 10m tall Zentran... That image puts the soldiers at the Raus knee, so its closer to 23m tall in this image which is about what it will be using a 1/60 one as 1/72 (330mm is about 23.7m tall) ... which then gets screwed up by the Rau off top the right side in the front of the troops knee only being shoulder height on the Zentran. And a favorite...
  17. or even next to an upright ruler and I can photoshop it next to a scaled Hasegawa Battroid. My scale theory is based on the idea the Battroids were developed to fight the supposed giant aliens crewing the SDF-1 before it crashed. So the VF-1 would have been around the size of a zentran and not the pods, which wouldnt have been known about at that time. So the pods SHOULD tower over the Valks
  18. he may not know the site was still taking money... unlikely but you never know
  19. There is always the option I use... F/A-18 and E/A-18 squadron decals For sizing, just load the masterfile image into Illustrator and then scale it and trace over the top.
  20. He has since pulled the website but not returned any of the money from outstanding orders.
  21. Looking good! Liking the nose art! Jefeumon should be able to help with the translation as well.
  22. given it houses a 8.5 to 10m tall Meltran warrior... I think its about right. Thats not including the freak of nature Klan Klang. Glaugs should tower over all of them, then the Nous, then the Rau, then the Regults in size. Think I'll take a gamble and buy one to size up.
  23. You can print most colours BUT white so you use a white gloss background painted on the model if you need that colour. For all the oddball Hasegawa kits try Amazon. You can get pretty much all of them there.
  24. You can do the decals yourself pretty easily. Get yourself a cheap Canon PIXMA MG5420 inkjet printer (under 70USD) that prints to 9600dpi, some decal paper (tons of options on the net) and Adobe Illustrator or any other Vector program (I use Flexisign as I do graphics on my units weapons and military vehicles on the side - I rock the best looking kit in the sandbox!) and have a play. Its pretty easy and the trace programs are getting pretty clever these days to save a ton of work. You want Vector based images as they are mathematical images (lines from point A to point B with colour fills) and not pots like bitmaps and jpegs so there is no loss of info and resolution when you shrink or expand the image. You could draw the plans to an aircraft carrier in Vector and shrink it to the size of a coin and still have the same sized file and info stored on it with no loss of detail. You think you dont have the skills but you'd be surprised how easy it is once you try it and watch a vid or two on youtube about creating vector art.
