Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

just solid. I have a few in my collection of crap. Its a phosphor coated panel. Any colours shown are created by tinting the top layer. -
lots of dremel destruction

Damn... mines still smaller... Inside the Wave Defender space is a premium even after removing a ton of internal panels not needed. I need to be able to twist the torso, spin the radar and raise the arms which are heavier than normal now they have brass vulcan cannons and motor/gearbox assemblies to spin the vulcans AND they have twin under/over 6 pack missile launchers on each arm. Oh and I need space the route the wiring for all that and the arm targetter LEDs AND the twin spotlights... should be real easy... right?
-
sorry should have added... without the tabs. I slice them off

CAN YOU MEASURE THAT FOR ME??!! I thought I had the smallest you could get stuffed in my destroids but that looks even smaller!

post up sketch or write up a description of what servo wires you have going where... ON the Trinket you need a pot to set the sweep limit. You hook it up then use the pot to define the maximum sweep point. IE turns on and turret sweeps to the left 90degs. Moving the pot will increase or decrease how far the turret will turn. On power off it sweeps back to its off position or 0Degs. You write a sketch that tells it at what time in seconds to turn on (sweep to max turn) then for how long to hold there, then when to turn back to 0 degress. Connections should be Servo+ to Trinket USB+ Servo- to Gnd Servo signal to Trinket Pin0 Pot outer pin to + or Trinket USB+ Pot centre pin to Trinket Pin2 Pot OTHER outer pin to Gnd Now.... one reason your servo maybe spinning all day is its not getting a controlled (pot) signal AND it maybe a continuous rotation servo and not a sweep to stop servo.

i'll have to check my docs but i think they are setup for digital servos.
-
hmmmmm shouldnt have. Digital servo or analog? Trinket Pro is 5V, was the servo?
-
They are fully aerobatic aswell...

these are in game ones before you get too excited. We both fly gliders in real life but battle each other in game in Warthunder in the Yaks.
-
we need to do a Macross Red Bull Reno racer, some of the best fun I've had in a PC game is doing the Air Race events in Warthunder in my Yak-3 painted up in V Energy Drinks colours. My Sister (another IRL Glider pilot) races a Matt Black and Pink Chrome Yak-3P
-
are you painting it to Camp standard or deployment standard? Thats being looked into after someone mentioned that earlier

Another one done, 4 hours to do including the painful wait for things to cure! Desert scene this time "How Low Can You Go?"
-
wait till my street battles are done, the brownies will be kicking Regult ass!
-
oh no... just had another 2 mad ideas - see why my side project is called AsylumArt - what about a desert scene with sand billowing up in the fighters wake! and mayne a camel bolting or some date palms having the fronds ripped off. AND.... what about a fighter cranked over hard with a bunch of flares (SMD LEDs) jetting out from under it? Or an ES11D seeing as I have a couple.

nope, you can drill it just fine. I drilled this one after it was done with a big assed 240v drill.

pm me I'd need to know the width apart of the feet that you want in your pose for the waves and how big you want the base to be. I'm guessing this style would work for a Low and fast Fighter mode too. Also, let me know if you want anything else in the plate, like boats, birds, sealife (shark fins etc) rocks and so on and if its just one gerwalk or a squad or a fight between 2. I'll practice a bit more before I'd do your one to refine the wave form so it would be a week or two max

Thanks, I'm thinking having one carving round a rock outcrop in the middle could be a cool version, or two crossing paths like a VF31 and a Draken I was working on a low and fast and perhaps close to Mach1 theory. Ive been in situations where I was in field as air support came in low and fast and you really didn't hear them until they roared over head, dumped their ordnance and boosted for the horizon. Sheet of acrylic, pasted over roughly with this stuff called Mod Podge, then layers of Artists Gloss Gel Medium. The waves are made from plastic sheet, could be old coke bottles or anything similar, I used a sheet of A4 laminate I fired through a laminator to make it harder, then just cut the wave to shape and used a hair dryer to curve it. Stuck it on with a ton of 3D Heavy Gloss Gel Medium, fired it back in the oven for 20mins or so on 60C, then painted layers of Gloss Medium and the Heavy medium all over the place to build the wake and wave. Kept heating it in the oven to speed the drying. Then painted the underside in Ultramarine Blue, Heavily and messily so it would look less uniform from the other side. Then dry brushed white over the tops of waves and in the wake. Then 4 HEAVY, like flooded heavy, coats of Future. All done in 24hrs Do you want one? I could make you one and send it over to OZ

thats not the one thats going on it. I'm using brownies on these displays so that ones just a place holder and the rod isnt glued in. My finger is holding it, sort of, underneath

Ok then.... I started this last night after putting up the VF-1J Box art as my work desktop background. This is the Mk1 to see if it would even work. Next comes a more refined Mk2 version, then hopefully I can do the final version on a bigger base with an old guy in a dingy fishing and unaware of whats about to toss him out of his boat! Obvious faults I've glossed over, the legs are too close together, the arms are in a crap position and its on too much of a lean forward, there should be a depressed section of smooth water under each foot from the down draft the effects things between the two rooster tails but as I design case study... I think it worked.

yeah or they sold it awhile and have only just announced it? I've had mine since I got my first GiMIX valks. They are a good starting point for a wrecked street scene though.
