and still no vf-17 -
as long as you stay away from the circuit tracks its fine. Sometimes the tracks are fatter than needed and even they can be cut into to shave the board down as long as you leave a 1mm solid connection in the track.

Looking through his site I can find the finished model but not a step by step. It looks more like a Metallic finish than a candy. Ignore that.... hes the same guy that built the Gunpla I links in the first post. He has a how to in his Paints choice tutorial and shows what he used there. Clears and Pearls over chrome.

Going the Mr Colour Gloss Black - Alclad Hi Shine Chrome and Polished Brass route - Alclad Transparent Red 3:1 Transparent Blue - Alclad Klear Gloss route after practicing on the outside of some paint bottles and plastic spoons. Hardest part will be having the patience to what a few days between each coat. Then trying to mask the flames in the Polished Brass layer (after that layer is clear sealed) before the chrome - candy tint layers over the rest of the airframe. Some fun discoveries so far: Alclad Hi Shine is actually a transparent metallic so the trick is to spray JUST enough to cover the item to allow the base black gloss to reflect through. Too much metallic layer and it goes dull. Transparents need to be sprayed in "dust" coats and built up over 3 or 4 applications to avoid pooling in the panel lines and edges. Model Master Gloss Clear and Future not only dull the finish but actually darken the base finish! Never mask over the unsealed Hi Shine layer. Ever. Seal it in Alclad Klear first. Hitting it with even low tac Oracal Oramask 810 masking causes the Hi Shine to turn more like basic granulated metallics and not mirrored.

Anyone familiar with painting candy finishes like the Gundam guys do? I have a plan....

Dont use Cement on the GiMix, just CA Cements like Tamiya will rip up the painted finish instantly. When you glue in the pilots butt to the seat leave it for a day before clicking in the canopy to avoid fogging. No glue needed on the canopy.

NOT THE KRAGLE!!!

I use Hotstuff for RC planes and drones and that has a fine needle applicator

tamiya glue isnt glue its a cement that chemically melts the styrene and amalgamates them together. Like welding. Runny superglue will take off on you and end up EVERYWHERE, go with tiny amounts of medium CA or gel. Just keep to TINY amounts so it doesnt squirt out of the seams.

tinfoil is a pain in the but to work with at this tiny scale, it rips more than goes where you want it too, where as the tape has its own glue that wont eat the paint and is stiffer.

most hardware and auto parts outlets would have it The Walmart Versions...

M-Club is easy to build, the Vinyl one... not so much. I have both and the Resin kit went together in quick time but the Repptu vinyl one is way WAY harder to get looking right and not warped. The Wave display piece says its coming in 2017 so wait and see I'd say.

make sure you test the OP11 led unit BEFORE installing it as once its in you cant get it out and I've had a set with one white and one blue LED. You'll also need a small piece of aluminium tape to line the inside of the leg seams to make them light proof on both the VF-1 kits and the VF-31 kits.

its funny how little flying surface vs fuselage and engines there are on the VF-1s in those videos when viewed front on. -

got a mate with an Airsoft gun or a drone? Try one of their packs, 1200mAh and up. The servo will suck some juice.

dont forget the Storm Troopers E-11 Blasters were surplus Sterling Submachine guns. Although the desert Troopers Heavy weapon was a stock unmodified MG34 Machine gun- 352 replies

VF-2JA - Could it fly or is it just a brick?
NZEOD replied to HannouHeiki's topic in Movies and TV Series
yeah I think most Macross airframes could fly given how much is now handled by logic engines these days. The vectorable thrust nozzles take the place of a conventional tailplane so their arent too many other issues for flight, just a hell of a flight model to program... ... to avoid things like this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faB5bIdksi8 -
