It was $189.99, it popped up on "recently added" toys

Just barely managed to put an order on PlayAsia for the 1S, it's gone now https://www.play-asia.com/dx-chogokin-the-super-dimension-fortress-macross-first-limited-e/13/70dlep

Is Kurama Toys reliable? I've never placed an order with them. I never had a problem with BiJ but Kurama came in first... wondering what to do
-
try https://www.biginjap.com/en/home/24222-macross-dx-chogokin-super-parts-set-for-tv-edition-vf-1.html

TV Super Parts available here https://www.kuramatoys.com/dx-chogokin-super-parts-set-for-tv-edition-vf-1/

Yeah, this is DYRL Hikaru 1S followed by DYRL SSPs 1-2 punch all over again
-
Damn, you're right... just shows how interested I was about that one... there's hope then! All I need is a Yellow 1S and a DRYL CF 1A... and the GBP set.
-
Yeah, I think it's going to be just the TV Super Parts box, no 1S included... I don't think they will ever release a VF-1 in any shape or form as TWE, only accessories for it. So far they did the Missiles and DYRL SSPs. The GBP parts might be after this. Now, do I wish they did TWE VF-1s? hell yeah, general releases are a nightmare for any one of them. Does anyone know if they did full TWE models for other VFs? Aren't those also accessories too?
-
Pretty happy with the SSP, but as others have said, no internal detail is a disappointment. Especially after you could reasonably expect it from the hints in that parts panel preview. You can see it in the diagrams. Anyway, Hikaru managed to snag some Booby Duck parts for his J here.

How could you have possibly "described" a defect if it was sealed? You don't have xray vision. The buyer even says it's a "manufacturer defect", it's not your defect, take it to the manufacturer then.

I don't even bother with the swing bar. I think it's pointless and doesn't give you waist articulation. It's not even "perfect" transformation since the VF-1 doesn't transform with a swing bar like that. And I don't think having detachable legs is really parts forming since you are not swapping parts from a box, you can grab it from the shelf as it is and transform it back and forth without any extra parts. Now, it would be really cool if they could actually replicate the original way the legs move to the nose cone, or something close.

I have two VF1 Master File books and I just checked: in the "Atmosphere" book gunpods don't have any markings. 'Space" one most depictions have no markings, but there's a few that show "U.N. SPACY". These are only aligned for fighter mode, so when shown in battroid they are upside down. But if you go strictly canon (TV & DYRL), looks like gunpods have no markings.

EMS shipping to CA, USA, was around $19.5 for a total of $64 in BiJ.

Just placed my order for one set of missiles in Big in Japan

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

I see everyone's collections are growing nicely! What a year it has been! On my end, after ~5 painful months, I finally got my hands on TT Devastator! Words cannot describe the joy I'm feeling with this guy. Truly, a childhood dream come true. He is awesome, just looks massive. I dig how his chest feels like a giant chunk of steel green might, f***ing unstoppable. I've looked at the other 3rd party Devs but they don't quite do it for me. Here are some pics guys. -

Mine arrived today too! I missed both preorder windows but I was able to snag one last week when a few of these popped up on the website for ship-to-home. I was worried about all the QC issues that were being reported but thankfully this guy is perfect. Not only that, but it's solid all around with no floppyness anywhere. I only had to rotate his fingers which were flipped outwards.- 16945 replies

Article by Mr. K -- "Why are Arcadia products so expensive"
sixtybucks replied to Renato's topic in Toys
Listened to it and very good observations! Arcadia strategy seems to be valid if they do: High quality engineering/design: Models with sound engineering decisions. Things that even if they pass QC, they will last long and won't break after 1 transformation. Solid mechanisms and parts.. gimmicks: part of the magic and wow factor that we love and help us justify the premium prices. QC: Again, when shelling $300-$400 for it, every last detail has to be spot on. Push the envelope mentality They said something like being "market research for Bandai". That could work when Bandai is only goes for safe stuff, and people who can't afford Arcadia anymore might get their chance if Bandai decides to mass produce a rare model for a better price.Someone asked in the podcast "but are they quality?"... this strategy might fall apart if Arcadia can't keep their high quality for a high price promise. If you pay big bucks and you still get crappy joints and misaligned tampo... well... the only reason that remains is that you want to support they cause and keep those (excellent but not perfect) models coming. Maybe we shouldn't think about paying for that perfect paint application, yadda yadda, but that we are paying to keep the flame burning. Would we suffer more with a little scratch on the paint or with Arcadia gone? -

The more I think about it, especially since the licensing issue has been brought up, the worse it looks. Either way they run (with Macross toys obviously), Bandai will catch them... be it high quality high price or medium quality medium price. Even higher prices won't guarantee flawless products out of the line. Would getting aqcui hired by Bandai be too crazy? -

Good points by Scyla, it's a tough decision and I don't know what I would do in K's shoes. I would probably back off on the quality and costs and bring it to a Transformer Masterpiece quality/price. It's a risky strategy to go for these super expensive, flawless, low production toys... they are going down a slippery slope... If you were a huge toy manufacturer, sure, you can have a super exclusive run every now and then, it's not your bread and butter. But these guys are walking a fine line here... Especially when Bandai is being a direct competitor and can afford to offer a similar product much cheaper. -

A very interesting read, thank you! I think that rising costs in China is not as much as a factor as the huge quality requirements being specified to the factory are. And K is merely asking what the collector community is asking (and paying) for. People want more and perfectly aligned tampos, noparts misalignments, no scratches no matter how small, no big gaps, no loose parts, perfect paint applications, etc, etc. This generates huge piles of rejected toys which go straight to the sticker price. But hey people pay for it and people raise hell if the tiniest detail is off... As long as he wants to cater that segment, prices will reflect it. -

I think I've seen CF 1J in SDFM, but I'm not sure they were wearing any armor. I think in was on Earth after the big battle doing kind of police duty with the Zentraedis.

Super cool, and the red background really compliments Godzilla! -
Thanks for those videos, they are simply amazing. Can't help but dream of a full SDFM remaster with this level of quality...
