So the whole arm rotating mechanism issue was just a case of incorrect transformation or does it still look like it could stress the plastic?

The closest to 1/72 that I know of is the PG (Perfect Grade) 1/60 line from Bandai (great looking pieces of engineering with 800+ parts) and the no grade 1/60 (really simple and lack the internal detail the PG have. The PG is the best line of Gundam kits (they are also expensive) The other scales for Bandai kits are: -MG (Master Grade) 1/100. They are getting better and better. -No grade 1/100. Simple when compared to the MG -HGUC (High Grade Universal Century) 1/144. Really great line if you want small kits with very good detail. Go to Dalong. It's in Korean but has TONS of pics of almost all of the Bandai Gundam kits.

I see Jetfire honours the female inspired part of the Valkyrie design by showing some camel toe... -
Thanks for the review Graham! Hope I see more of them popping up soon. Reading that people aren't happy with it and that there are some problems has been like a shower of cold water. I could already have one on its way but after this I need to see more reactions to it. Can't justify the money and, more importantly for me, the display space for something that could arrive with problems. Words like "fragile" I don't like, especially when I find the 1/48 very durable.

I think you'll find that they have the sand there because that change is symptomatic of an overall change in tone that permeates the prequels and the altered OT. Indeed, more than symptomatic, it is the quintessential post-ESB Lucas decision: Change something that doesn't need to be changed (was anyone really offended by Han blowing away Greedo without giving Greedo "first shot!?!") Fundamentally alter a character (in this case, changing Han from a bad-ass into a goodie-goodie idiot who is alive only because Greedo can't hit a guy at point-blank range from two feet away). Finally, disingenuously claim that any changed events, characters, timelines, or meanings are not changes at all but were always part of the "original vision." It irks in the same way that all the guns in E.T. were replaced with walkie-talkies to make the movie more kiddie-friendly and PC. Though, in that case, Steven Spielberg did the right thing and also made the unaltered version available, as Lucas has now done. Now, Everybody wins! Well, except those of us who would like to have not gagged at all the pratfalls, kiddie humor, and fart jokes during the prequels. But you can't have everything! "This will be a day long remembered. . ." Best, H 396612 This thread been useful. No I get all those “Han shoot/Greedo shoot†jokes I see on the Internet. I only had the vague idea of seeing Han Shooting first, didn't know that was one of the pillars of SW geekness.

Well according to mahq the movie version is approximately 17.1 meters, some 56.1 feet (don’t know if that includes the antenna). At 1/60 the thing should be 28,5 cm, which is what my Q-Rau is approximately (if you count the antenna it's almost 31 cm tall, some 12.1 inches). So you can say it’s virtually 100% 1/60.

Do many people make a living selling quality painted models?
-
Soooo when some of you people played Lara Croft or other female leading character did you feel gay or less manly or something? And Amano's male designs don't look like the embodiment of macho either and people didn't complain about gay looking sprites back then (I guess then that deformed sprites made androgynous character designs manly). Now your manhood and the quality of a game depends on what some stupid fantasy videogame character "wears"...

That's why I would like to know what does the Japanese market want from Yamato and if they are getting it, to have something more to go by than second guesses. Know anything regarding this?
-
Two or three years ago Yamato made a poll (targeted to the Japanese market) where they asked which toy was the most wanted by the fans. The Q-Rau was one of the options. So, yes, they listen to consumers. Japanese consumers. Think of the current releases, Macross, Votoms, Megazone 23. All niche markets (80's shows) targeted to niche consumers: they sell few units of an expensive toy with a high profit margin to high income consumers. Again: Japanese fans that were 8-10 years old back in the mid 80's. When you start a business, and you think about a possible product to sell, there's two marketing cases you take into consideration. You produce what people are currently demanding or you explore a niche market. Case one, you produce what people like and ask for. Case two (Yamato), you produce toys from shows that were broadcast 20 years ago cause you think there's gonna be demand for that product. When the founder/ers of Yamato started their business, did they sit back and think: gee, does the world remember shows like Macross, Votoms or Megazone 23? When Yamato's CEO explored the possibility of a 1/60 MKII Monster, did he/she think: no, lets scrap that insane idea cause the overseas market is not going to pay the high shipping cost and we are going to eat dead stock. Yamato knows there's an overseas market, BUT they only pay attention to the Japanese consumer. Back in the old days they were kind enough to speak to and share info with a BRITISH guy living in HONG KONG (god save the king, insert Graham here) Graham does not represent the US market nor the rest of the world. Disclaimer: this post wasn't intended to reply to your post Twoducks, I just used your question to make some stupid brainstorming 396159 Wait a sec. Does anyone know the stipulations before Yamato started the poll? I can't believe that the Japanese fans choose a Q-Rau over an SDF-1, VF-4, or another YF-19. 396169 Forgot to mention the Q-Rau thing. Here we have a piece of fan service that hasn't sparked a milking machine for Yamato. Those things are going very cheap on some websites so you can't label that as a hit (was it even reissued in Japan?). I wouldn't be surprised that Yamato doesn't bother with more fan demanded items and follows sure bets like the hero mechas of others famous series (Garland) and little variations on good selling designs (like the VF-1 and the Scopedog). I think that we won't se any fan favourite items for Macross that aren't variations of the VF-1 and VF-0 for a long time (hope I'm wrong).

Who says were arguing, I think it's more of an ego driven senseless debate that entertains to an otherwise bland subject. It's all fun & no harm done! 396111 But I wanted to see blood .... Turning the topic around might be usefull. Does the Japanese market of Yamato have any say so on their Macross stuff? Are they happy with what they are getting from Yamato? Could be that Yamato doesn't really need to listen much. The VF-1 is the most famous good guy design ever to come out of Macross. M7 was big in Japan but they aren’t making any 1/48 or 1/60 VF-19’s (and this design could also be milked, look at the YF-19 and all the colour and head changes that can easily be made). The VF-0 is as close as the fan favourite VF-1 without being the same as you can get, so Yamato doesn’t have to risk much. There is a demand for different colour variants (seeing as how high the Low vis goes for) and the CF must have done good for them to do not one but two colour variants (three if you count the no FP version of he stealth). The veteran molds can still be milked with little losses if things go wrong and the VF-0 opens up another possible milking machine that resembles the engineering of the VF-1 (and is also very recent). Do Japanese Macross forums speak only of the necessity for more VF-1 variants or do they also want enemies and destroids and different valk designs as much as non Japanese MW users do? Can any member of MW from Japan tell us if Yamato listens to their bitching?

Are they done with the boring fillers yet? On to other things: OMG http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCKXD8ZGFXU...sical%20opening

WOW! I must say that Battroid mode looks great! It doesn't have the thunder thighs other YF-19 have (specially the Yamato one). Where can you get that model?

X-men 3 Pics: Beast And Angel Revealed
Twoducks replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
SPOILER continued from here http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=18875 Ok, just saw the Sentinel fight on Youtube and... I take my hooray back. That scene was right out of a TV movie. Even the part with Wolverine walking around seamed edited wrong (could be because it's early though). To Hollywood: flying people around with cables DOES NOT look cool on film. Colossus reminded me of T2 in a cheap way. -
Sentinels... all I wanted to see. Hooray!

Nice!! Thanks

Pics of the VF-0S's box from 1999: Looks like it comes with the piece needed for the Yamato display stand. Nice touch from Yamato.

Cool! (Quoted from here) -
A master at work!! We now have a pretty good idea of how a Yamato VF-0A or 0D could look like in toy form.

Can't wait to see one of these babies panel lined. I really like how the fighter nose/cockpit looks, one of the best parts of the VF-0 design IMO.

Aliens Vs. Predator 2 Script and Movie Review
Twoducks replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
didn't some one actually make a comic for that? I seem to remember a superman vs aliens as well 394145 And there was even a Green Lantern vs Aliens. The silver age GL discovers them in space and doesn't kill them because it's their nature to kill so he exiles them to a planet. Years later the modern age GL has to save some alien friends from those exiled Aliens. -

Twoducks replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
heh robocop may improve it. marine: theres the alien queen lets send the shiny metal man to kill it: murpy: my name is murphy and no.... send the ed-209s. I take it you don't like any of the vs movies like jason vs freddy, jaws vs flipper, chucky vs the lepercon, and starship troopers vs colonial marines. 394008 I now remember how Termi and Robo battled it out in a videogame. Eventually we will end up seeing an AlienVsPredatorVsTerminatorVsRobocop movie. Just you wait. Hollywood retard-o-physics guaranty it. -
