Official Transformers Super Thread 3

Thanks for the pic! Robot mode looks better from that angle but the head is still in a pedestal. I also hope it’s badly transformed and that the cockpit angels more into the body. Didn’t notice the big pegs under the wings for the lasers before. -
Now THAT justified getting a newly released console.
-
As others have said, I would wait. Form what you say you like, I think PC games could hold you up until the new consoles drop prices or have worthwhile games. No sense in buying an overpriced gadget that has next to nothing. There still isn't an XBOX 360 game out that makes me want to say "WOW" and for the price of a next gen console you could have your PC's graphics card souped-up and get a lot of games.

I like the chunkiness but that torso looks a bit off (specially the neck/head area). I've photoshoped a version with the head not sitting on the pedestal and it just makes it all come together IMO: Well, I'd better get used to pedestal neck. -

Finally some pics!! Fighter mode looks great but sadly robot mode differs on some important things compared to the great concept sketch. This are the main things I don't like: -The body is chunky but that wouldn’t matter if the part of the nose where the head sits was in the same level the intakes are and in a downward slope like they are (like in the concept). This just makes the head look like it’s on a pedestal. -The wings are too low. -The pointy parts of the intakes are too sort (there is a lot of space for the crown though). I hope this is a veeeery early prototype. -
Very Unique New Figure Display System.

Good point. Especially on the Confrontation stuff. Maybe by making the bases a lot bigger you can focus all the stress there and leave enough free space for the delicate parts of the figure. -

Wow, nice idea, specially how they stack up like Lego. New ways of fighting the evil dust legions are always welcomed. My Macross stuff won't fit there but I have some Warhammer and Confrontation miniatures that would really benefit from using something like this. Are these things cheap? The only drawback I see is that the "warp film" might not hold against pointy things. -
I forgot to post this article (which was the one I liked more). It's been updated since the E3: http://www.pointlesswasteoftime.com/games/crash.html Some things are exaggerated but I see myself reflected in most of this article. Every passing year I play less and find little reasons to look forward to new stuff. It just feel like we've hit a wall in videogames. The mayor advances are in graphics, but there a moments when you just don't get the "Wow!" reaction you used to have anymore and just get a “that’s it?â€. My friends are also abandoning videogames. I remember we had tournaments of Street Fighter and Konami's ISS Soccer among other multiplayer games, and when we went to Internet Cafes to play Counter Strike and Day of Defeat like nuts. Then one day we stopped playing (and the same way arcades are but gone here where I live, places that specialise in LAN gaming are going extinct). Now we all have internet connections but we've never played an online game against ourselves. When I played online by my self, it didn't feel the same to be blasting some faceless individual as it did when your friends were mere feet away from you. That got boring quickly. World of Warcraft has been the best online experience I've had. I like the cooperation aspect and also being able to do go alone if I feel like it. The problem is that I don't have the time MMORPGs require. If my friends gave it a go then that little time would be worth it but we are all busy now. So after the initial addiction, I find myself not playing anymore. What little time I have nowadays to play games I spend on old emulated arcade and console videogames. The next gen looks pretty but it isn't the SNES to N64 or PSX pretty. The Wii is the only thing that's getting my attention, but I don't know how much the whole control thing will last for me (the game that I find more interesting, Melee, doesn't use the new controller). If they drop the price on the Game Cube I might get one… but I just don’t have the time anymore. You guys feel the same way? Responsibilities, girlfriend and work leaving you too with no time to play? Are you just plain bored? I feel old

Just read a review that says the movie gives a "superior (alternate)" ending. Better to know that the ending isn't the all be all so I don't get my hopes up (but anime has made me crappy ending proof when the show is good). The movie might repair the disappointing ending. Well, I'm of to see more mature anime goodness.

Just seen Ep 2 and I see what you mean. I'm going to enjoy this . And yes, very good sound track.

I like this kind of threads that speak of a show that I don’t know anything about (and that it might be good). Seen the first episode and so far I like it.

1) The Wikipedia helped me get a clue of what other things they made after G1. I've read a lot of people saying good things about Best Wars. I've been watching it recently after years (never did see season 2 and 3) and I can tell you that it is a really good character driven show (the rest of the stuff is too kid oriented for my liking). 2) Those pictured are old toys: the small one is worlds Smallest Starscream and the medium one is Starscream And don't worry, I also make a lot of noob questions in this thread -

I've got BTA Red Alert, i paid 60 for it at my local import store so yeah 80 is def. overpriced IMO. I've heard there's been some slight QC issues (loose limbs, misaligned parts in alt mode etc.) with this verison because of the number of times they've reused this mold, but mine didn't seem to run into any of these problems, although i haven't transformed him into alt. mode just yet. Bottom line is, if you really like the Subaru mold (if you don't already own Smokescreen or Silverstreak) and/or are a fan of Prowl... i mean Red Alert it's a great addition. I wouldn't pay more than 70 for it though. As for the differences between the BT and their Alt. counterparts, there's no real differences in the molds between the two versions, just in the paint apps. and the materials used. For example, BT Skids and Alt. Skids are exactly the same robot, car and character but have completely different paint jobs. Up until Prowl came out though every figure they released in the BT series that had an Alternators counterpart had as far as i can tell exactly the same paint job. Except for maybe Alt. Smokescreen who suffered from a non-metallic colored plastic body that made him easy to differentiate from his BT counterpart. 399021 Thanks. Time for good old Ebay. If there isn't really anything worth the price difference between BT and ALT then I’ll might pick up a Smokescreen if I don’t find a good price for Red Alert. -
I wouldn't say that. Apparently, Kojima has wanted Snake in Smash Bros for a long time now and had asked too late for him to be included in Melee. So he got his wish for this next game. Now we need Mega Man and a Belmont (I'm sure Team Sonic is there). 398955 With Pit already in if you add those two and a giant Gameboy we could have "Captain N: The Game Master Melee"

Wow, now THAT is a worthy homage to the G1 Prime. If they could make the toy look that good I'd buy it. I saw on a local store the Red Alert Binaltech that comes with the anime girl for about US$ 80. http://www.binalternators.de/alert_english.html I liked the design but the price is high IMO. Does anybody here have it? Also, any mayor differences between Alternators and BT other than the plastic/metal and the paint chipping thing on the BT? Is the extra price you pay for the BT justified? -
Keep those nice pics coming.

Wonderful machine but it's reeeeeeeally disturbing, not only because of the freaky way it moves but also due to that horrible noise it makes. We're all gonna die... at the hands ..er.. stilts of the spawn of that thing. This is old but I don't remember seeing it here (and the search engine is MIA for the moment): Exoskeleton shown in the 2005 Aichi Expo http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=mg18624945.800 http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=1&cl...18117525696R131 As we can see in the photo, that thin looking Japanese woman has such mass that you need an exoskeleton to lift her (but that is another story). In the video I saw the guy was lifting heavy looking cement sacks. -

No new photos for MP Starscream yet? Screw the VF-0S, this release IS the one that’s getting me all worked up. Very difficult to resist a high quality transforming toy of such an iconic bastard. Don't get me wrong, the VF-0S is nice and all, but it doesn't have childhood magic around it like a 1/48 VF or this MP (which even has Kawamori involved). -
Nice. Now, where are the pictures of a Q-Rau and the VF-0S duking It out? People, we need more 1/60 action.

Two interesting articles about the videogame industry and the next generation consoles: http://www.pointlesswasteoftime.com/games/manifesto.html http://www.pointlesswasteoftime.com/games/fanboy.html While I don't agree with everything, some valid points are made.

Well, that thing sure needs to disguise itself, alien monkeys tend to draw attention. They can take the designs wherever they want (can’t expect alien robots to look very human like), but that Starscream looks more like a grunt. To generic IMO. Maybe the Autobots will be more “friendly†looking for audiences to relate to as opposed to the evil looking bad guys.
