Thanks! I was starting to freak out about how delicate damn toy colors are.
-
Ok, so I just put two Halogen ones pointing at my display case. The ones with the fat screw things: http://www.diytrade.com/china/4/products/4111890/GU10_halogen_bulb.html Those are evil too?

By now the pre-Kawamori mold belongs as part of ancient history in toy designing. The legs on MP-11 should look like they do in that pic: no stupid tail fins nor super high hills. TakaraTomi should follow the examples set by Bandai and Yamato; when they do another version of the same toy they freaking set the bar so high you really want to buy it again, not pass on it.

Well, it actually is up mine since I'm buying a VF-25 AGAIN
-
WTF? are those pics up on TFW2005 correct? That is just a stupid remold... And here I was hoping for an actual improvement (as in getting rid of that pedestal neck MP SS has and folding tail fins). This is just the 5 year old preKawamori version… Yeah, no hip kibble... super... great... to bad Igear is already doing that cheaper... Really. What a waste of a MP slot.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Twoducks replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I think the leap from the YF-19 to the V-19 Kai raised expectations for this one. Yamato should have done a VF-17 five years ago, then this one would look a lot better Really wish Yamato would take more care with their promo photos. They really shoot themselves in the foot with such a plain looking resin proto. Off topic: Wow, the new MW look feels weird. -
Ok so the DX V1 releases in order were: Naked Alto Naked Ozma Web exclusive super parts for Alto Web exclusive super parts for Ozma Super Bundle Mikail Super Bundle Luca Web exclusive sound booster + missiles Web exclusive drone Armor Bundle Ozma Web exclusive armor for Alto Web exclusive transparent Alto? Web exclusive tornado parts? Web exclusive movie missiles? Tornado bundle bluish Alto Tornado bundle Mikail Could Bandai pull a web exclusive Armor parts for Ozma or will they do the bundle? They tease about Super and Armored parts but I don't think they would release Alto and Ozma bundles for each type of parts. A Bundle Super Alto and a Bundle Armored Ozma could be possible (the opposite could go for Web exclusive). But again... the teasing of the parts could also point towards possible web exclusives. Get the normal Ozama and get screwed later with a bundle or wait and get nothing but a superpriced Ebay Ozma... what to do...

I'd love to see those made into toys. The transformation alone is a very nice change from the 1-19 style that dominates Macross.

And Roy is a womanizing drunk douchebag but he follows the heroic archetypes to the letter. Hence why he is so loved. Same thing with many action heroes: they all have douchey and obnoxious behaviours or characteristics but they follow their script. Basara is a fictional character that just takes a dump on what we have grown to expect to see the hero archetype do. Basara has his douchey “character flaws”, but instead of going “sorry everyone to have bothered your personal sensitivities with my way of thinking, I’ll shut up now and go chuck those evil mother*&/%& with lead as is expected of me”, he goes “LISTEN TO MY SONG… AGAIN until I get it right”. Such fervent hate for something, like the one the fictional Mr Basara generates over and over, means that what has been regarded as a deep unquestionable truth has been sullied.
-
This x2 I really have to say that Basara is one of the most original characters yet. Instead of the usual "war changed their lives", Basara was the force that changed the other characters in M7. He goes against the very pillar of action oriented entertainment: more aggression as the only solution to aggression. No wonder so many people hate him so fervently. That little character goes against an interpretation of reality that has been hammered to us by years of tv and movies.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Twoducks replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Isn't Yamato risking it a bit by doing so little promotion of their big next releases? Bandai has been bombarding us with the 29 and the V2 25 for months. -
Yeah, but the flapping face gimmick didn't limit the toy like the sound and light gimmicks on leader figures do or, to a smaller extent, the folding gimmick making the riffle smaller on MP-10. For no extra price, you felt like you got extras to a big robot that only needed to turn into a truck. MP-1 had dicast and the whole Binaltech’s line main selling point, other than a bit more paint, was the diecast. So I don’t know about the non importance of metal in TF toys for 30 years. Personally I really don’t care for diecast other than in important parts that need reinforcement to nor break, but I do know that id ads costs, so if I see such a ridiculous price for a toy I want the end product to justify the price: - Made by a big company, not a small one or a 3rd party. - A smaller toy with a bigger price tag than the original (the one with the trailer I mean) - Virtually no diecast. - Not a complex design (MP Rodimus at least has a complicated transformation to justify costs of engeneering). - Less gimmicks than the cheaper, bigger, heavier version. - A trailer that is a hollow box. The tiny trailer of THS Prime is more complex. Add that up and I get a veeeery overpriced toy. New design looks great, just not good for the price they want. I’ll also wait for a Hasbro version or even better, a real Ultra Magnus.

I think they were nice little touches that added value to the toy and made it feel like special care was taken designing it. For a 65 USD version, I wouldn't miss them on MP-10 though, but for the damn price Takara is asking for the thing I think I see why some might be upset. MP-1 has the most diecast I have ever seen in a toy (maybe SOC Ideon could compare) and now Takara follows with the opposite and smaller. The company sure is skimping out a lot lately.

Unpainted resin proto pics would look a lot better for promotion. -
Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie

Legs are stable and stiff but the stupid diecast still pulls them very slowly down. I'm going out a few days, hope they stay that way -

Yes, you can easily remove them from the hips to expose the balljoint. It’s half metal with the tip being plastic. Same thing, I think, with the two pieces that clasp into the balljoint: metal but with plastic parts. See the pics (sorry, don’t have the good camera right now, but you can see the grey parts that I think are plastic). Used clear tape but nothing special. Tried with packing tape and finally got stiff joints… but they sloooooowly fall victim to gravity. Not loose but I can’t have the legs hold 90 degrees for long. Going to let it rest with the legs wide open to see what happens. -

The trick still works but I won’t be able to do it again. I have the screws as tight as I can get them with a screwdriver. I think that if this happens again, I'm going to have to use nail polish or other more elaborate fixes. My 27 has perfect legs after all this time, just a very loose left arm. -

The constant picking on jenius's reviews is getting very very very old (very). Personally I find his site and reviews useful and it is the fist place I go to when I want to decide something or want to se good comparison pics. Damn place is free, has a lot of information, helps new members a lot and is easy to access. All you review critics: Send him a PM telling him your wonderfull "suggestions" and save us the drama, please . As for the 29: floppy legs on mine too. They arrived a little floppy so I tightened the screws a little. After reading this today, and touching it again for the first time in weeks, they are loosy goosy. Mine has been displayed standing up in battroid mode with no stand. Not happy about it. Pissed really... damn 3rd party Transformers companies are taking better care of me with replacement parts for their fuuck ups in their next releases (TFC & Fansproject). Bandai and Yamato could should learn from that. -
How about a V3 YF-21 in eugimon's omega pants™? That would solve the size thing and look hot

OMG! Tigersharks!! I had completely 100% forgotten about that series. Not only that, youtubing I remembered the other three shows that went with it. So when can I expect to see a “dragonstein” on thundercats?

FURIOUS OVER NEW CONAN (Conan the Barbarian remake)
Twoducks replied to Agent ONE's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It isn't a "bad" movie, just completely forgettable. It has toooooo much similar looking action scenes and a bare minimum story. Had they done a Ninja Scroll type of movie full of action but divided in encounters that get solved in different ways then it might had worked. For a moment I thought they were going to do just that what with the bad guy having a posse of videogame boss like goons. But those fights got diluted with all the “Conan can battle tons of guys at the same time… the very same way over and over”. And I liked new Conan guy, the backgrounds and sets. Director and script ended up sinking this ship. -
The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn
Twoducks replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I got a lot of the comics as a really small kit but I think I only read two or three. Liked to just see them. The stories that I made up with the nice drawings in my head were more fun to me. Didn't the animated series pretty much cover all the books? Remember it being pretty boring though.- 39 replies
