Still no Diamond Force, Un Spacy or boob tampo… great poses but those photos are not the final toy… I HOPE (I do know that magazines go to print long after the contents are finished, but the box art is something new).

The 17 is a more or less a week from being released and yet we don't know how much tampo printing it’ll have. You take that and add a promotion based on just showing the proto again and again and you get confused potential buyers that see gaps that are no longer there. Thank the stars we had Renato touching the production sample to give us feedback. So, IMO, it’s normal for some people to voice negative opinions about a $300 product they don’t even know how it looks finished days before release. With the current stinking super yen going higher and higher, well, you get pickier about what you buy.

Is it as dark and matte in person as it looks in the videos? Thing looks fantastic from a design point but the dark scheme really takes away a lot. Does the scheme look at least like the VF-22 Gamlin? Hope it sell enough to make a non cannon scheme. I think the bright S head breaks up the dark boring scheme a bit.

Great pics, thanks Graham! Finally the bird gets some love. A gimmick I would have liked A LOT is a pair of interchangeable smaller wings for battroid mode. That way it could look like it does in the anime. Same stuff Bandai pulls off with some SOC combiners when anime magic makes parts bigger or smaller: perfect transformation but extra parts to make the toy look better.

Ouch, I really like how they do the wings on the Experten kit. Makes the upper body look more like the anime version.

Nah, MW is too loud to take seriously Actually, I base it on jenius comments about his retailer friend in Japan, ff95gj's comments regarding Toysdaily, and because Bandai has been riding the money wave with all their hard to get DX valks since the VF-27. The Bandai thing could be because retailers ordered less out of fear... but they still are out of stock and bandai keeps making new ones. That the YF-21/22 has been having heavy discounts for a looong time is also a factor for me: The 21 is a second class main valk, same as with the 17... and the 21 did enjoy a loong promotion process (we got to see protos in many colors and I think one was even transparent... and it even had a TV commercial showing it off). So, methinks, if the 21 enjoyed so much promotion and it didn't sell as well as the YF-19, even with two other canon schemes, what hopes has a 300 USD non promoted 17?... ( good I hope for the good of Macross toys... )

Finally a cool thing: VF-17 is bigger than VF-19 in battroid mode. See Yamato, promoting isn't so hard.

I keep saying it: Yamato really need to work on how they promote their products. The kai did it well: we got tons of pics of the grey resin proto showing gimmicks bit by bit. Even if the VF-17 has less gimmicks, they still need to show-off the sculp. Heck, the kai standing on one leg won a lot of people over and that pic came way before any colored shots. Lets face it, the color scheme on some of the M7 valks isn’t for everybody. But the kai showed the beauty of the design well. The 17’s promotion feels rushed; “here are cad pics, here is a quick look in grey resin, here is a painted resin proto in a boring scheme that swallows everything the toys does and all its detail, yeah, it is supposed to have a gun gimmick we aren’t showing yet and, BTW, it’s 300 bucks due next month” Oh, and BTW, Frankenstein head is awesome. It’s like they SW reanimated all the valks Hikaru got destroyed into an undead form.

Funny thing, I just discovered this series a few days ago while doing research for an article about dead technologies. Found a page with people saying CN sucked nowadays and a gift image about this show as being the only good thing. Looked crazy so I went for it (you have to take any possibility to procrastinate LOL). I'm loving this crazy and random show!

Hope it has enough steam to later make an anime with the rest of the story. The still running manga is just awesome.

One thing I missed was the shots of the Galaxy invasion over well... the whole Galaxy like in the TV series. Would have been a nice excuse to also show the original Macross on Earth. That and a fast shot of Bobby and token female being sad about Ozma. That is still a type of triangle, a solved one ages ago but still, Macross can't never have too many triangles.

Go to www.nyaa.eu and download a RAW version by searching "macross frontier decay". That "decay" group or whatever has a big torrent of 5,4G. Then just drag and drop the subs I posted earlier. Image quality is superb and there is no tiling in the background. Can't get "Open Ranka" out of my head....

Just finished it. Loved the little nods to 25 years of Macross. Awesome movie. Laughed my ass off with the Quarter... damn ship had a great presence in all the movie. I should be working but I'm rewatching some parts, This deserves it. Really having a difficult time deciding if I should get the Blazer or the Kai... Or I could get a Hi-metal Balzer and wait for a 19P... These things are getting much more expensive and room nonexistent.
