Since I haven't built mine, I have no idea. And I don't have any ideas about covering screw holes. I would probably try some two part putty and try to form a piece to fit the hole if I could, but having only recently started messing with the stuff, I don't know how well that would work. Surely someone form the workshop section would have an idea? And, nope, not selling my only VF-5000 model/toy . Someday I shall built it, this I swear! lol

Mine is tucked away in the closet. What problems are you referring to?

I would definitely want this one if I didn't have the Yamato with the sound booster already. And although the little band figures are an awesome addition in my mind, I can't shell out money for a nearly identical figure for just a few little figures . I wish they would make toys of Mylene's and Ray's ships! There were a few models of them, but never any toys that I'm aware of.

Ouch, Ozma available at Plamoya for $262. I think I'll pass. http://plamoya.com/en/dx-chogokin-vf25s-messiah-valkyrie-ozma-lee-custom-renewal-ver-p-41859.html

I agree, this looks to be Hasegawa. In the original picture, you can see the Hasegawa Photo Etched parts to the right of it. I'd buy another one if Hasegawa does one. 1/5000 was the Wave toy: http://www.hlj.com/product/WAVMC-41/Sci Yellow Submarine and Club M worked on the 1/4000 ones a while back I think: http://www.hlj.com/product/YLSG-060/Sci Yamato had the 1/3000 and 1/2000.

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.
vsim replied to Gakken85's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I can't even find any english writing on it, I expected to find BANDAI on it or something, but nope, just Japanese characters. As best I can tell, it says "bitsukuuesuto ... takatoisu" on it in Katakana. ビックウエスト タカトクトイス Which, with the help of google translate is apparently Big West, "Takatoku" Toys. .. And all hail Anymoon! http://anymoon.com/blog/?p=1825 -
Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.
vsim replied to Gakken85's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Okay, it's not a new toy purchase. But I did run into this little guy from when I was just a little Robotech junkie . I was clearing out an old box of Transformers to sell and just had to save this one! Can anyone tell me exactly what this thing is from? lol. I'm guessing it used to have a gun. -
Glad they figured it out, I hope you feel 100% soon!

Awesome! MS in Aerospace Engineering and 16 years and counting working flight simulation for NASA. And I even did some simulation in college too, though that was childs play to be honest. Nice to meet another AE sim person into Macross!! The inertia data doesn't scare me, although I'm curious what MEL is? I could approximate it easily enough. I'm good with coordinate transformations, systems, frames, etc. I do that at work all the time. I would just need someone to tell me where the center of each component is and I can handle all of the calculations to tell the graphics, hey show this leg at position x,y,z, orientation q0,q1,q2,q3. I originally wanted to simulate the transformation sequence as well, not just animate it, but have a control system command all of the actuators to transform it. Does that make me crazy ? I'd play Macross pinball!

Thanks EXO, that sounds easy enough, and I have talc powder laying around actually. What kind of putty should I use? Is it like an epoxy putty? Or something else?

I love the fact that the trailing edge flaps can be moved on the wings of the 1/48. I have no strong DYRL/TV preference.

Hmm, going to work from memory here (never a good thing, lol). The fuselage engines have 2 fans for each side (1 compressor, 1 turbine). And there is an optional cover on those for space flight if I recall. If the cover is installed, I doubt you could see the fuselage engine compressor fan at all. I believe all of the parts are the same size, except for the fact that two of them have a large lip around the edge of the part, and the other two do not. But I believe the outer diameter was the same.

The turbofans wouldn't be useful for space, but that doesn't mean they aren't still visible. I just got an e-mail from Starship Modeler, and yes, he said it was changed. I want to do the same thing EXO, how did you make a copy of the fan stage? I would have to make a copy of two of the parts in order to do the same thing as I already need the 4 that came with the kit for the other parts of the engine.

I tried to start one many years ago (Link to sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/valkyrie/?source=directory), but always had trouble getting help with the graphics. My specialty is flight simulation, so I can handle all of the math models, etc., and would love to have a realistic simulation of the vehicles. I like awesome graphics, but don't really have the time, or desire, to learn how to program all those parts. I always wanted to write the vehicle and actually make it behave like a real one would, not just kind of fake it. If either of you guys is interested, PM me, let's talk and see if I can't help you! I don't know how much time I can spare right now, but I can try .

I got my kit this weekend and was surprised to see that they replaced the turbofan part in the engine inlet with a flat plate. It seems like it would have looked much nicer with the fan visible, I wonder why they changed it. But other than that, it's a beautiful kit.

Is that the Bandai Monster? Or some other one?
-
I agree, that box art is fantastic.

I'll remember that next time, thanks for the link to the thread! I've got some scribing tools on order, so it will be my first experiment with that kind of thing . At least if I mess up, I can just fill it over, sand and try again . I think I have some dental pick style tools lying around somewhere. I guess those would be good for the little panel fastener dots maybe? I'm going to find some time to practice airbrushing and brush painting so I don't have these issues again I hope. I also joined the local modelers club, so I should get some tips there too. Thanks guys!
-
It's probably not that serious. I have a few areas that will need to be built back up, but the primary issue is just the panel lines are all gone.
-
No, I do not know how to sculpt, but I plan to try . I'm sure it can be repaired and I plan to try. Any tips?
