The computer and electronics super geek thread
Smiley424 replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Looks fine to me. Without a budget and usage it is hard to critique your parts, but everything looks solid to me. Have you tried putting up your build on pcpartpicker.com or the reddit buildapc thread? Just more folks that can comment and critique over there. Also, there is alot of buzz with the AMD Ryzen CPU and Vega GPUs scheduled to come out later this year. If you don't need the PC son, I would wait and see what AMD brings to the table. -

The computer and electronics super geek thread

Thank you everyone. I have looked more into watercooling and custom loops are definitely more maintenance then I am willing to undertake. My Noctua is working very well with my overclock, 40C at idle and max 68C under load. I will stick with it in the new case and see how it works out. I am currently set on the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M with tempered glass case. -

So is anyone water cooling here? I'm thinking about getting a new PC Case and thinking of changing out my Noctua NH-D15 cpu cooler and going with either an AIO water cooler or maybe even a custom loop. More for aesthetics as I am looking at cases with a tempered glass side panel and possibly moving into a slight smaller case that won't fit my current CPU cooler. My CPU is a Haswell I5-4690K that I have overclocked to 4.5 GHz from the stock 3.5 GHz. Just looking for thoughts and opinions. -

So a NASA WB57 has been hanging out on Guam the past couple weeks, chasing storms in the area. It's a modified B57 Bomber that NASA uses for high altitude atmospheric research. I was able to check out the aircraft up close, though no pictures. It's an impressive aircraft, the wings are huge as well as the engines. It came in so high up, at 60000 feet, where I've only seen RQ-4 Global Hawks fly. The pictures are from when they were doing some engine testing/maintenance, and they were spooling the engine. It also has a slow approach speed, between 120 - 150 kts on final. Took me be surprise and I had to bend out a following 737 so it wouldn't eat up the WB57 on final. -

I had the Kawamori Stars cream and regret selling him, but what's done is done. I have been eyeing the updated more G1 accurate Starscreams for a while, but I don't love the design and characters to pay the crazy markup that they are selling for now. I went with one of the KO Starscreams by KBB and reports are that they and another KO, BB7 Skywarp are improved over the original Takara/Hasbro releases with tight chests. I will post my impressions of the KO Starscreams when it arrives unless we don't talk about KOs here.- 16945 replies

http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/4793/all-three-of-the-usafs-bomber-types-congregate-unexpectedly-in-guam So we now have B-52s, B-1s, and B-2s on Guam right now as well as some USMC F-18s down from Okinawa. The most aircraft deployed at Andersen outside of a scheduled exercise I have ever seen and the first time all three bombers are here at the same time. -

http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/spider-man-homecoming-set-photo-offers-close-up-web-shooters I never paid attention in Civil War, so this is the first I heard about this, but new pics of Spidey's external web shooters. I didn't know they were doing his web shooters this way in the MCU.- 266 replies

The Bones have arrived. Just some video of them taxiing at Andersen AFB. https://youtu.be/S1OkDqHQGGs And video of what these bombers do everyday out here in the middle of the Western Pacific Ocean. It's cool to see the ordnance crews still write those messages on bombs. https://youtu.be/_c-vJ9gVJm0 -

I have no idea about the specifics of the BUFF's radios. I work Air Traffic, so I talk to them when they fly. I just assume maybe they are older technology that hasn't been upgraded as it works. The fighters that come through, their radios work very well. It may also be on out side too as our radio transmitters and receivers aren't in the most optimal location, according to the Techs anyway. Also, we come across the dreaded 7 engine emergency landing often, though that hasn't happened while I've been working this last rotation. -
amiami sold out, my hlj is still processing, hobby search hasn't started yet or is sold out, the screen looks the same since this morning.

http://www.guampdn.com/story/news/2016/07/29/air-force-moving-b-1b-lancers-middle-east-guam/87693244/ It'll be a nice change of pace working the B-1Bs instead of the B-52s. Hopefully they will have better radios, as the BUFFs have the worst radios on any aircraft I have ever worked with. I wonder if this change over is related to the South China Sea situation. -
Monster shipped out from Amiami today.
-
SOLD! I bought an Arcadia VF-0S during HLJ's last sale solely for this.
-
Got my Amiami payment request. Shipping is ¥4900 for me to Guam. I am pretty sure all my EMS packages from Japan come in on the daily Japan Air flight. It takes less than a week to get here.
