Macross II on cable? It's on right now. (NY)
Smiley424 replied to tom64ss's topic in Movies and TV Series
Yeah, I have Dish Network and every once in a while they give us a free preview of the different premium channels they have. I caught Macross II on the Action Channel once during the free preview weekends. Definately cool to see Macross on TV. It was the subbed version I saw. Definately something lacking storywise, but the mecha and ships are pretty cool IMHO. -
Yo tom64ss and The6ftTallAZN, I represent Jersey too, though more Central/South Jersey where I have both hoagies and subs available to me . I have some friends from North Jersey (Bloomfield and Elizabeth) and they're always pointing out places they've seen in Sopranos when I hang out with them up there.

It all begain innocently enought when I got a Jetfire for Christmas. It was the coolest toy bar none back then, just total awesomness . Then someone mentioned to me that the toy was actually from the show Robotech, not Transformers. Happened to catch the show a couple times, pretty cool with all the valks and stuff, but it didn't hook me in right away, but the show and more so the valks stuck with me in the back of mind. Fast-forward to freshman year in college 1999 and the wonders of high-speed internet in the dorm. Begin to scope internet and ebay especially for Jetfires. Find all episodes of Robotech, downloaded them and actually watch the series. Was just enthralled by the overall story of love and war. Reba West's singing almost killed it for me halfway throught the series though . After doing more searching about Robotech, kept seeing Macross come up and wondering what is this? Leads me to this and other such related sites and from there on I find out about SDF Macross being the original. Afterwards, end up buying entire Animeago Set of SDF Macross and DYRL as well as a Yammie 1/48 Low-Vis plus Fast-Packs Summer 2003 (My Summer of Macross ). Found the story more to flow much better in Macross than Robotech, found Minmay less annoying, her singing 1 million times better!!! They story really hooked me from Episode 1 and after buying and watching Macross Plus and Macross 7, here I am eagerly anticipating Episode 4 of Macross Zero

Nice, the US site says you can give wingmen orders this time around. Now as long as their AI is good and they show some initiative and don't just fly around in circles until ordered to do something. Now I'd like to see some more creativity on the mission design side of the game. And hopefully get a little bit more realistic withe the flight model, i.e. have the different planes perform differently and like Graham said, make the A-10's Avenger cannon more accurate instead of the same vulcan-esque gun all the planes had in AC4 (its the the little things which matter the most) .

Sweetness, I've been waiting for this game for a long time. Looks really nice graphically. I like seeing new aircraft like the A-6 Intruder and I believe the red and white job is a Bae Hawk which is a trainer I believe, but is also combat-capable? I'd like to see some more action, involvement of your A.I. wingmen, like be able to give them orders (cover me, attack target, protect target, etc) like you can in Rogue Squadron. If not that, just show me that my wingmen are doing something to help me accomplish the mission (tie up enemy fighters so I can make my attack run, take out radar/sams/aaa). I'd also like to see more nap of earth flying, through canyons and stuff like at the end of the mission in Ace Combat 4 after destroying the solar powerplant.

Aside from what seems like basic military training seen in Episode 6, there's probably alot of sim time, especially with the situation of the SDF-1. I think the simulators would be the real deciding factor to see if a person could handle piloting a valk and utilize all its abilities and transformations effectively. Also there will definately be G-Tolerance training as well as zero-g for space combat. In the specific case of the SDF-1, with attrition, they would take whoever did passibly well in the sims and just throw them out into space combat just like that.

List the most ugliest Transformer toys out there?
Smiley424 replied to SupremeKaioshin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Max, you just stated exactly the same way I feel about the all the new Transformers series since G1. It just kills me when I see them have a new series and just recycle the names again and again. Then again, I'm not that big of a Transfan to begin. -
True that Shina, true that. The yammie 1/48 was pretty straight forward. Smokescreen on the other hand, was and still is a bitch to transform .
-
With the variable transformation of the valk and Max's uber skillz (he's a genius) he'll definately take out the Ghost X-9 w/o a scratch. Another tactic that could be used to great effect against the Ghost is if the Ghost ever gets behind the valk, the valk can transform into gerwalk or battroid, watch the Ghost zoom by and bang, got'cha. This manuever is shown to great effect in Macross Zero Episode 1 when Nora in the SV-51 caps Shin in his F-14.

How many years have you been posting here?
Smiley424 replied to Skull 0ne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I remember pretty much just lurking, trying to figure out the differences between Macross and Robotech around the time of the whole Toycom deal. I didn't officially sign up on the old boards until after I picked up the first Animeago DVD set and 1/60 CF Yammie. The Animegos were the first time I ever saw original, uncut Macross and the Yammie was my first valk since a Hasbro Jetfire so many years ago. I credit/curse the boards for turning me into a Macross FanBoy and Valk-a-holic . Been something like 2.5, 3 years or so. -
I don't mind if only one design gets made and not the other, it was reall hard for me to finally decide on the Mech design, but I still like the Mikamoto and will take either one, just as long as one gets produced, that's all I'm asking.

I was thinking about throwing up a new topic about Ninja Gaiden, but I was too busy playing it . The camera is an issue, but after playing it, I've gotten used to its nuances. You definately have to be constantly moving while fighting multiple enemies. Learn to use XA, it makes Ryu jump towards the closest enemy, works pretty well most of the time. Graphically beautiful. Holding down Y to suck in the yellow/red/blue orbs is key to getting a high essence score, which factors into your final ranking at the end of levels. I like this game much, much better than Shinobi. Just beware that in the demo, Ryu's weapons are fully powered so you have all combos available to you, in the game you have to upgrade the weapons to unlock more powerful combos. I recommend it to those who like these kind of games.

Just got my hands today, nice work Rohby . I highly recommend them.

I was just recently able to watch the first three episode of Mac0 after I got a friend of mine with highspeed internet to download them for me (still on the 56k myself). After seeing the first battle between the F-14s and Mig-29s and then have the SV-51 make an appearance, I knew I was in for something special. The CGI battles are awesome, and seeing the SV-51 and VF-0 in action in th episodes, I can see why alot of people were gushing over both mech designs. Now I'm eagerly awaiting both Episode 4 and the Yamato VF-0. Mods you can pull this if you want, I Just wanted to gush about Mac0, thats all.
-
Damn, that's some nice work there, wouldn't mind a recast of that as well.
-
Both designs, just plain beautiful. Now the hard part, choosing. Hmmm . . . . .

GU-11 ammo/magazines/clips
Smiley424 replied to Retracting Head Ter Ter's topic in Movies and TV Series
In regards to the VF-17 having beam weaponry, it does kinda. I remember in Mac7 Gamlin would pop out this attachment for his VF-17's gunpod which would shoot this large powerful beam and take out a bunch of enemies. Seemed like a one shot deal though. Well, it looked like a beam weapon to me. Also, I believe the VF-4 had beam weapons and missiles, no gunpod, but I don't know how canon that is. And after that fighter, I think all valks have had gunpods since. -
Which period do you want to live in the Macross
Smiley424 replied to vanpang's topic in Movies and TV Series
I chose Mac+ era cuz it seems pretty cool, though I wouldn't mind running around during Mac7. Either way, by then Vf-1 valks are available for private ownership, right? That's just too kick ass, though the chance to pilot VF-17s and VF-19s is tempting. -
Just got mine from Wal-Mart today, looks like they just put them out today. I saw them at Target earlier in the week, but the Primes are going for $69.99 there, while at Wal-Mart they are $63.99. Also, all the ones I saw at Target had the grey gun whereas all the ones at Wal-Mart had the black gun. Now I gotta see about getting these long stacks and it'll be all good.

Nice, I really like DA's new scheme 'cept for one thing, the back image is cool, I wanted someone to pull out a collage pic of characters from the show, but Roy's face gets obscured by it in the right side image, and kinda throws that image off for me. Still, a really nice scheme, but would like some valk action if at all possible in anyway. Definately loving the big collage of characters pic though.
-
overall it looks okay, nothing too fancy, I like the possibility of the voltron though I think twisting hip action should be incorporated somehow. definately needs to come with shooting lion heads and lots of weapons for each individual lion as well as blazing sword and star, otherwise I'll definately be spending my money on an original GoLion or the Trendmasters reissue.
-
Yo, I would like just one set . . . for now anyway.
-
nice, I knew someone would get right on this sooner or later. Now I just have to find a 20th anniversary prime and I'll be set.
-
Hmm, yeah, I can see what you're saying Dangard. I don't know if I have the time right now to go about putting together what I'm thinking of in my head. Though I like seeing the Hasegawa valk box art on top, maybe we can just blow up the Macross World symbol/image instead.
-
Hey everybody, I hope I'm not too late in the game to put my two cents into this project. Just been busy with school/work/video games to get on the forum in like two weeks. I like what I'm seeing so far for both boxes, you guys have come up with some good stuff. My only real gripe with the current box art contender is the back/spine image of the SDF-1. Its not that I don't like the current pic of the SDF-1 in space, but I think the first image of the SDF-1 taking off just looks better to me. I don't know, I just think it gives a better look/profile of the SDF-1. I was also thinking that if possible to use a screenshot from the opening of the tv series with the VF-1J in battroid mode kinda floating in front of the bridge to the SDF-1. Then you can put to MacrossWorld Logo to the left of it and I think it would look better that what's currently being done. Also like what going on with the Mac+ box as well. I really like the Isamu, Guld, Myung, and Sharon Apple background for one side of the box. The other side should definately feature some yf-19 yf-21 valk action in some way. Definately something I'll be keeping an eye on.
