Got one at AmiAmi. Japanese websites again providing an excellent example of shitty inability to cope with spikes in load because whoever runs them doesn't know how to configure autoscaling. I will use this as an example when I'm talking in Tokyo in December at a conference for a cloud vendor.

Mine is sitting in Private Warehouse at HLJ. Looking back over the thread it seems that correctly assembled versions are the exception rather than the rule. Is my impression wrong? What's the best strategy to pursue at this point? (I don't have to ship for 40 days)

I don't believe NY failed on the VF-31A. I got all my orders. The second one was waaaaaaaaaaaaay late, but they definitely came through at the pre-order price. Eventually they must have addressed all the preorders because they put them up a few on their site at a significantly higher amount after each pre-order had been fulfilled. IIRC, everyone that had a PO and didn't get it, explicitly cancelled with them. I don't believe there was anyone who had their PO unfulfilled from them (unlike some other vendors who did cancel POs). They took ages, but they came through.

& now got a GX-88 at NY. I suspect there was a price increase, but got both the items I wanted.

NY countdown finally finished to a "your order is complete". I'm speaking at a Cloud Computing conference in Tokyo in December. I think I'm going to make snarky remarks about NY, HLJ and AmiAmi and the general inability to run a website that scales to demand.

Got right to the end to confirm order at NY with GX-88 and "no more available" FFS. (though on the positive side, accidentally selected a shipping option that was as much as the unit)

Today's preorder has the added difficulty of me not only being half a planet away from home (I've done that preorder) - but starts at precisely the same time as the day long conference seminar I'm giving. I'm counting on stragglers not turning up at exactly 9am ;-p.

That doesn't sound very procrastinatory. I finished writing a large number of books and papers by ensuring that everything was only finished at the extreme last minute ;-)
