  1. Here are the latest additions to my 2-month collection :
  2. Thanks. Sometimes it's best that those of us on the remedial track get some extra help on the side. Seriously, though -- you guys have already saved me all kinds of money and headaches. To get even more help feels downright greedy. If you guys wanna know how to treat a heart attack sometime, pm me!
  3. BTW, to mods and other posters, sorry for the derailage...
  4. Thx for the welcome! Yeah, I read some about the ridiculousness, but it's amazing that no resolution has been reached. Thx for sticking your neck out and expressing your preferences. I'm sure there's some disagreement on that kind of thing hereabouts... OK, here's hoping I post this w/o random quotes invading my post...
  5. Oh crap. My attempts to quote and respond were horrible. Lemme try this again. I apologize if I implied anything about funds. As my wife and I are both physicians, we probably don't have enough consideration for cost, which is ridiculous to even talk about. I appreciate what you're saying. Appreciate the link.
  6. And no -- I'm not planning on spending 1/3000 SDF-1 money for any individual item.
  7. BTW, how in Holy Hell do you guys not end up buying like 3 of these a night? They're just so friggin' cool. I honestly don't see how I'm gonna finish Christmas season without like 50 of these. Also, where can I find DUBBED versions of 7, Frontier, Plus, and Zero? Whether it's a sign of my being a derelict as a parent or whatever, my son can't do subtitles. And it seems incredibly difficult to find these series in dubbed form rather than subtitle form. And thanks for the warm welcome, guys. Really. It almost feels like you're being very welcoming to a US football fan on a soccer forum (which would never happen). I'd expect some degree of smarta$$itude and snide comments. Really appreciate it. I abjectly apologize for this question, but what do you guys consider the, say, 5 coolest/neatest Yamato/Bandai 1/60 figures? My guess is that what you'll pick will be the ridiculously-priced/ rare ones, but I strongly value your opinions, and I kinda want to hit the ground running...
  8. LOL When the first one showed up, my wife saw me obsessing about working on the transformation as my son looked on (with a huge smile across his face), and she said "Jackson, it was so nice of you to let your dad buy himself a new toy!"
  9. And yes -- I realize, after looking at the collection thread, and seeing how much you guys know about the various Macross chapters, that I'm essentially the ultimate nub. (Also, I fully admit that the VF-19 is a bootleg, but I wanted something he could try to transform, and I got it for like 15 bucks) I hope you'll forgive my idiocy.
  10. So I just joined the forum tonight, but have been something of a fan of Macross (granted, when I was 9 yrs old back in '83, it was 'Robotech' to me) fan since I was a kid. I just happened to get reminded of Robotech last month, and decided I would download the series. My 5-year-old son started watching it with me, and has become a huge fan. As I had gotten a couple of the Robotech figures back in 84/85 (which, I believe, are still in my parents' basement), I just happened to google 'robotech figures,' which then led to 'Macross figures,' which eventually led to 'Macross 1 60' on ebay/amazon/ cdj/ hlj/ etc, at which point my son saw what I was doing (doh). His eyes lit up, and, next thing I know, 3 weeks later, we have the following collection (thus far): http://i.imgur.com/M1jkM43.jpg In case you're wondering: 1) yes, they're all in my 5-year-old's room 2) no, he hasn't broken anything, and he is so concerned about breaking them that he calls for me whenever he wants to play with them The best part is that he is obsessed w/ keeping the boxes. http://i.imgur.com/3rBCXWV.jpg The worst parts are: 1) we're going to outgrow our 3500 sq ft house in short order... 2) he now thinks that every box that shows up at the house is 'a new Robotech' Anyway, you guys have been a great resource for someone who's just getting started on this (and who has a very young son -- no matter whether or not you think he's waaayyy too young to appreciate them/ not break them -- for whom he thinks this will be a great collecting/play opportunity for many years to come). Thanks!
