hey hurin, i really appreciate your effort in doing this. when i bought a copy of macross FX i was so happy with the quality, but when i first read the subtitle i was like "What the fart?" the subtitle was so horrible that i wish someone could do it right. after a week i checked macross world forums and i came across your post i was very curious about it. so, i went out and bought myself pack of dual layer blank dvds. took me several hours to get it and i have myself a macross perfect sub. i do have a question to ask you if i can. how come i dont have a menu title (for some reason there's no menu title. i was shocked, but at the same time i really dont care much about it. i just wanna know what happened). other than that, this remind me back in 1994 when a friend gave me a perfect sub of macross on vhs tape. the quality was good great and the sub was perfect. but this is 12 yrs later and i really dont watch anything on tapes. so, to really have this on dvd, now that's priceless. kyatsu

my most prize valk has to be a bandai 1/55 VT-1. i bought this toy back in 1995 for 50 bucks. i traded my sega genesis along with 30 bucks to get it. at the time i thought it was ugly and weird (this is way before i saw the movie. i didnt see the movie until two years later). i am glad i kept the toy. it's priceless and i am happy that it's the first macross toy i have. since then i bought 1/55 re-issue VF-1J, bandai JM hikaru, JM Milia, 1/48 VF-1S roy, 1/48 VF-1J. kyatsu

i am tempted just to go out and buy myself a 1/48 CF and make myself a cool low viz version 2 of my own. if that does come true, i will show you guys how the real deal should look like. kyatsu

Y-21 is hard to find and you will want to get the fastpack version. kyatsu if you end up wanting to get the first version of Y-21, i suggest you read the review on macrossworld.com http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/_...yamato_yf21.htm http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/y...21fp_sample.htm peace, kyatsu

hey chowser, all you need is the fighter mode. how about hook a brother up with one, huh? so you and your wife can live happily ever after. kyatsu

i really believe in getting the later issues. you will get a better toy with improvements and by then the price will be more affordable (basic economy, the more the supplies, the lower the price). kyatsu Usually, yes, but in the 1/48 world it doesn't seem to matter. Since the later editions have obvious improvements it kind of counters the "rareness" factor of the first editions. Another good example of this is the M+ YF-19. The first edition seems equal in price to the 1.5 and 2nd editions. Some day, way down the road, the 1st editions will probably all appreciate a bit better than the reissues. Buying 1/48s as an investment is a very bad idea though with Yamato being so willing to offer reissues. 391877

yeah, how many did you order and do you have one to spare? kyatsu

i just wish that whoever was in charge of the color theme for the low viz version 2 could have come up with a better color tone. i think the green is way too dark and overall it is not very appealing to a lot of people. i really think that this could be a big dud for yamato. kyatsu

all that i can say is that all i need is the low viz, maybe a vf-0s, monster, and hopefully a 1/48 vf-e and 1/48 vf-t (i am pretty sure yamato will get to them eventually) and last but not least macross. then i will be done with toys. kyatsu

Macross Ii Anime Film Awesome! *heavy Spoilers!*
kyatsu replied to retroborg's topic in Movies and TV Series
hey retroborg, i am just surprised how much you like macross II? i mean do you know what art is? i think you have to watch the movie again to see the inconsistency of the the drawing toward the end of the movie where the art started to look crappy until ishtar starts singing. apparently the studio ran out of artist or money and hired a bunch of lame artists to help out? dont get me wrong, i was very hyped when macross II first came out. i was really into the first two episodes (i saw potential), but when i later found out it was only six episodes long and the last two episodes were very horrible, i just gave up. man, take some art class or something and see how horrible it is, kyatsu The order given by the Emperor to his soldiers is equally dramatic (And very Japanese in style if I may say so) The final battle between the U.N Spacey forces and the Mardook fleet is one of the best in any Macross / Robotech film. The music used for the battle scene is just perfect, as you watch the ships mobilizing for the imminent battle to come! The two huge fleets engage in a devastating clash, in close proximity to the moon’s orbit. At first impression, it would seem that the earth’s fleet gains the upper hand by wiping out 60% of the Mardook fleet in a single blow after using four Macross cannons, but all of a sudden, a huge wave of enemy ships de-folds and begins hammering the outnumbered earth fleet with a devastating laser storm! The entire fleet, the Macross Cannons & the Gloria Flagship it self are destroyed! What’s interesting is that the Earth side fleets, in all the battles that take place in the film; consist almost primarily of old Zendraedi style battle cruisers also seen in the older Macross DYRL film & the Robotech series. An apocalyptic dialogue that reveals the true feelings of Lord Feff for Lady Ishtar, takes place at the hangar of the Mardook command ship. Lord Feff releases Ishtar, but before she leaves, he tells her: Finally, at the earth’s siege, in the last decisive battle over the scourged earth landscape, Ishtar sings the song of hope and sends to everyone the gentleness of her own heart and saves her people from the dictator. I find Wendy Ryder’s love song (Japanese) (At the Moon festival) better than Minmay’s “Do you Remember Love†song from Macross DYRL and superior to the English translated version “We Will Win†song, from Harmony’s Gold Robotech series imo. Same goes for “The Hush of Two Hundred Million Years†intro song (Japanese) compared to Macross DYRL & Robotech intros imo. Overall, Macross II is definitely one of the best Anime films and should be placed in the hall of all time classics! maybe they were influenced by macross or robotech earlier on in their childhood? kyatsu All mecha with reverse legs look cool. I've noticed that it is a popular design with western mech fans. That is whenever you see a mech game on pc or whatever usually it contain a tank like mech with reverse legs and no arms. Whereas in lots of anime it is always the humanoid mecha that is preffered. Why is that? Wouln't it be cool for once to have a gundam whose legs were reverse leg and is the main hero's choice? 390419

i suggest you get the vf-1s (hikaru)first because it's only a second release of this toy. yamato has made a fifth release of roy, so i am sure you can get that anytime. or if you really want, then get the vf-1j stealth. it's very new and i am sure a lot of people will be buying it. so, you can choose either the vf-1s or vf-1j stealth. kyatsu

dude, this is like a treasure. i wanted to get low viz back then, but i didnt know it was limited edition (super limited). luckily timing is everything cuz now i have money and my friend just happened to be in japan. what a crazy world, but i am so happy to get it. i was gonna pay my friend to convert a 1/48 cannon folder to a low viz. i guess i dont have to do that now. i might ask him to do a low viz fastpack. and of course i will take my japanese friend out for a very expensive dinner for finding it. kyatsu
