For PG prices, it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask for both stickers and waterslides. Bandai already did that with their Macross F valk kits.

I don't have any PGs, but haven't the previous ones all been stickers-only?

Thanks, Tochiro! You kick so much ass that you must need new shoes every week!

Thanks, Renato! Come on, Tochiro. Just one little Chie pic!

While all of the Macross listings I could find are importers listing via Amazon, not all are shipping direct from Japan. A fair number are using Amazon to fulfill the orders and offer prime shipping - which means they must already have inventory stateside. It's a step in the right direction, at least. Also, Amazon does sell Gundam kits directly, so they have some sort of relationship with Bandai/Bluefin. Maybe that day will come...

Fantastic! Did anyone from the SpeakerPODcast make it to that FB Live event in October? I was hoping to hear about it on the last episode (but the MacrossWorld report was awesome). I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more Chie!

Yeah, that was my first thought, but an oddity about figma Miku 2.0 (#200) is that her head isn't actually removable. I'm not sure about the newer racing versions, but I assume they're the same way. Also, having the robot helmet to frame the figma face might make up for the huge scale difference between a 4" figma and an 11" robot. I dunno, just wishful thinking - I'm sure if the toy could do that, they'd have mentioned it. I love the transforming bike idea, but they'd have to get Shinji Aramaki on board for that one!

I need that so much... it can't be a coincidence that it's coming out around my birthday! I wonder if there's any chance that the helmet visor could be removable in order to fit a figma face in there? It'd be awfully small on a robot that size, but its proportions look weird enough that it might work. EDIT: Pre-ordered! Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention. I knew about the Kawamori concept and animation, but I had no idea GSC was actually making it.

Banshee's First Impressions of Macross 7!
Nekko Basara replied to VF-15 Banshee's topic in Movies and TV Series
I think that's a fantastic viewpoint. I skipped M7 for years and years because of the bad things I'd read about it; I wish I'd seen more folks saying, "It's not for me, but some folks love it, and every fan should see for themselves." Also, given how polarizing the show is, I'm pleasantly amazed to see an "old hand" around here who isn't staunchly in one camp or the other. My helmet is off to you! -

I'm more curious why everyone is painted with brown or blonde hair in that setting. Unless perhaps that's the "anime hair" phenomenon.

Following a tip from The Onion's A.V. Club, some friends and I recently watched "Shakma" on Netflix. This 1990 (looking like 1980) film about a group of LARPers being killed off by a crazed baboon was the best bad movie I have seen in years. Just flat out amazingly awful on so many levels that we laughed for an hour and a half straight, and I was talking about it for days afterwards (case in point). And the best part was that - unlike modern Asylum-style films - it was played 100% straight by everyone involved. Truly bad movies are my guilty pleasure; if they are yours as well, please check "Shakma" out.

Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread

I realize that we're all in, "we don't know anything, this is just wishes and speculation" mode, and I think that's fun. But it occurs to me (and maybe I'm that last to notice) that we actually do know one thing: they are looking for a new idol talent. Therefore, I think we can safely assume that: 1) Hoping that the new show won't prominently feature idol(s) is probably pointless; and 2) Guessing that the new show will feature an entire idol group - which I've suggested myself - is probably incorrect. Yes, Frontier did a big search for a new idol voice and then actually featured two idols by also tapping an existing talent. But I don't really expect we'll see to see an amateur supplemented by an entire group of pros.- 2715 replies

I've got a question about displaying 1/144 Gundams. I have a number of Tamashii Act 5 and Trident stages, but I'm finding that the various claws in those sets don't hold most RG and HG Gundams well, because they lack grip strength and/or don't fit well around backpacks. Does anyone know of a way to make these stands compatible with the Action Base adapters included in most kits? Alternately, if you are using these stands with your kits, what is your trick?

I'll raise this spectre again. Idol groups are hot. Maybe we'll get an AKB0048-styled team of pilot/idols. Muahaha.- 2715 replies

Aircraft Super Thread Mk.VII
Nekko Basara replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
When you say "the plane that lost WW2," are you referring to the Zero? Because it was one of the most advanced fighters in the world at the start of the war, with unrivalled range, good armament, and the speed and maneuverability that Japanese tactics of the time called for. It was exactly the machine the Japanese Navy wanted, and it enabled their conquest of such a large area of the Pacific - at least, as much as a fighter aircraft could be responsible for such a thing. It's true that it was outclassed by war's end, and should have been replaced more fully and sooner, but the same is true of the Bf-109, for example, and nobody would accuse that of losing the war for Germany. If the Zero "lost" WW2, it wasn't by being a bad plane - it was by being such a good plane that it emboldened Japan to start a fight it couldn't win. -
That gives me such a great idea: Beargguy on a unicycle. Not a crazy MS unicycle, just a straight-up circus clown-style unicycle. Please, please, anybody with an in-scale prop, make this happen! And, yeah, I totally agree that there is nothing very MS-like about the crazy bike build. It's impressive as hell, but it doesn't look like a giant, piloted machine at all. I think I'd be cooler with it if they hadn't directly associated it with Char.

I'd estimate that about 50% of all the kits I have built, Gundam or otherwise, have drawn blood at least once. I like to think it makes the process more personal! The nice thing about how damned sharp most hobby knives are is that they don't hurt much (at least, not at first); the bad thing is that those clean, deep cuts bleed sooooo much. Sometimes I don't even notice I've knicked myself until red smudges start appearing on the plastic!

Gundam Build Fighters/Build Fighters Try
Nekko Basara replied to VF-15 Banshee's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Thanks! It does look to me like the runners are the same as the HGUC Ez-8; I see that they have the leg pieces with the beam saber "pockets," even though none of the SRSC team uses these, for example. I guess what puzzles me with the Ez-ARMS kit is that they seem to show the Ez-SR support version on the box, but the EZ-SR kit already includes these parts (I think), so there's no point buying the Ez-ARMS to supplement an SRSC team build (unless you wanted to go crazy with, say, double shoulder cannons - but see above regarding all the extra parts you'd already have if you bought three Ez-SR kits).- 971 replies

Gundam Build Fighters/Build Fighters Try
Nekko Basara replied to VF-15 Banshee's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Forgive me for being dense (and not reading Japanese), but I haven't been able to figure this kit out. Does it include one "base" Ez8 and option parts to build any of the three variants used by the team? It seems like that would leave a ton of unused parts, particularly if you bought three kits to make the whole team. Also, where does the Ez-ARMS kit fit in? It seems like that kit includes parts that are already included in the Ez-SR kit to begin with.- 971 replies
