Hey All, have a question concerning the old 1st edition Yamato VF-11 Hips. Is there any difference between the two hips besides the improved metal rod in the 11b? In other words, will the newer hip fit onto the older VF-11? Thanks

another idea: if you want custom TV hands, you can break apart the recast ones and custom it that way. I was messing around with a pair earlier and all you'll have to do is make some minor adjustments with putty and it maynot take too much time.

Hey KingNor, I'm not sure about the custom hands at this point. If someone else is willing to sculpt the custom hands and enough members want it, I can definately cast it though.

Hello All! Just came back from a 3 day trip. Here's an update on the hands. On wednesday I was testing the tints to match the color of the original hands. I just couldnt get it right. The original color is an off-white or something like that. I can't seem to achieve that color. The only thing I was able to do was reduce the brightness of the white resin. After the tint, the color is not as bright as the one's you see in the pics that EXO posted, but it's still white. Just not as bright so it wont look as weird and out of place. Hope this made sense. Anyhow, that's what I've decided to stick with and will start processing tomorrow. I'm going to start with the ones that have already paid me and will continue to contact those that are next in line. Sorry for the delay.

Hey Guys, Let me try to answer a few questions. I'm going to start casting tomorrow (Thursday) morning and will ship out the first batch the same day. I'll be leaving out of town Friday morning and will be back Sunday night and will continue to cast on Monday. I know, the super white hands look a bit awkward (did I spell that right?). I'll test out the tint in the morning when I start casting. No gaurantee, but I'll see how it turns out. What else....oh yeah, paypal prefered. Oh, thanks for putting up the pics Alex!

Hello All, Thanks for your interest in these recast hands. I will meet up with Alex tomorrow (Tuesday) night with some of the recast hands and we'll test them out for durability. I personally approve of it's durability since I've tested it myself. However, since it seems quite a few members are concerned about the stem, I'll have Alex test them out to see if he approves as well. Worse comes to worse, if it doesn't pass the Alex Test, I'll go ahead and insert a pin into them when casting.

Hello All! Who knew this little pilot would be wanted by so many? Thanks to Alex for convincing me to recast this, thanks to Nick for lending the original, and thanks to George for lending me the Minmei. However, I will not be recasting the minmei as it's not as easy as it looks. By all means, it's do able. But I feel it's not worth the fuss. If you have one lying around you can see that her hair and her right arm is where the problem's at. Her right arm holding the microphone is positioned towards her body and actually rests on her body and not connected. Same goes for her hair. Since they're touching and not connected as "one" at the point where they're touching, it causes a problem to recast. I hope it made sense. Sorry about the minmei George Ok, on with the pricing. I plan on providing them @ 2 qty for $5.00 and free shipping within the US. Sounds fair? For the amount that many of you want, I plan to make a couple of more molds to speed up the process. To simplify things, I'll go ahead and start contacting those on Alex's list via PM's starting Thursday Night. I'll then go through the posts to see who was left out and contact those next. Hmmm....I didn't consider casting it in a different material. But now that you mention it, it may be a good idea so pple can flex it into the cockpit. It'll also depend on how many pple want it in the "rubbery" material because I don't want to purchase a different material if not enough pple want it and I'll end up losing more money than I had planned to. I always tend to use the same material since it's what I'm used to using and I have it around anyways and wouldn't really cost me too much. Exo, I'm not sure about the price, probably something cheap like 5 bucks for 2. Sounds fair?

Yeah, I actually have the pilot done already. Will try to have some pics of it on Wed or Thurs for you. I'm also working on the Minmei one that Bigkid lent me. It's a bit tough to do but I'm gonna give it a try later tonight.

Yeah, it does rather burn the molds fast. I find once it loses it's lubricant which causes the dullness, just spray alot of mold release to bring out that shine. You can usually get a few more pulls off of the mold.

Rob, the material used is a clear type of resin. It's quite strong and extremely clear. The only bad thing about it is that it takes way too long to cure depending on how well you mix it. Sometimes over 24 hours to fully cure. Hey Mods, if I posted this topic in the wrong section, feel free to move it Thanks!

Hello All, I've recasted a 1/55 canopy in some crystal clear resin and I went ahead and casted a solid colored canopy to be used as a heatshield. At certain angles it seems as if there is no canopy since it's so clear and the black canopy frame is not painted on.

Hmmm...after reading your post (The Lone Wolf), I totally agree with you. Not intended for the same market at all. You're right, the backup JM's technically are intended for the ones that love to custom.

hmmm...perhaps the backups have caused a dip in prices for originals? Consider this: Let's say some of the MWers were indeed planning on purchasing / bidding for Original JM's but did not because they've either bought backups, or are on the waiting list for backups? Wouldn't this have some kind of an effect on the prices for originals? Just my thinking.
