  1. ALIEN, ALIENS and Alien3 is on IFC today and it was a scene like this that reminded me why ALIEN was so great and there was no ALIEN in this scene either. Outside Fasbender's scenes this kind of intense dialogue was lacking in Covenant. Though I still think Covenant may be a better film after a repeat viewing.
  2. We all knew Prometheus had a lot of religious references but I didn't know there was this many.
  3. IGN gave it a good review so I'm feeling much better about this film. Expectations won't be too high, just want to be entertained and not leave the theater feeling retarded for wasting money on a bad movie.
  4. Social justice for xenomorphs and artificial persons!
  5. Don't know if this really should have its own thread. I stopped watching it half-way through. 2199 made all previous Yamato anime lame IMHO, soooo good.
  6. Kinda doing the same by playing AVP 2010 and may play ALIEN: Isolation again for the second time this year. Not to wash out Covenant but just for the ALIEN thrills though AVP 2010 has not aged well for a DirectX 11 game.
  7. This movie is such a pariah that it's already a cult classic. Seriously though, I think this film will be more appreciated over time just like The Thing was.
  8. On a side note one of my neighbors who is a deputy for our local Sheriff's department has a young son named Maverick, lol.
  9. I keep reading it is but doesn't go beyond Easter Eggs.
  10. Did anybody else get the Blade Runner references? They were subtle but I noticed one where... There was another one but dammit I can't remember what it was, ugh.
  11. Looks like I got my answer. Interesting director choice. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/top-gun-2-director-joseph-kosinski-circling-tom-cruise-sequel-1007357
  12. ALIEN and ALIENS gave us champagne tastes when it comes to sequels. Star Wars, Dark Knight and Terminator films suffers from this after their second films too.
  13. Just got the 'making of' book and it's really cool. Highly recommended.
  14. Same, my first James Bond film was For Your Eyes Only. I think it was Moore's best film too. Very thrilling seeing it the first time when I was really young, had no idea who James Bond was till I saw him on the screen for the first time.
  15. I'm OK if Urban isn't in it as long as the show is made well.
  16. Alamo drafthouse? We have one here in NOVA and while the food & drink is nice its become a turn-off as we've experienced one too many a-holes getting too drunk and stupid during a movie.
  17. That's awful, I had no idea that happened http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/zack-snyder-steps-down-justice-league-deal-family-tragedy-1006455
  18. I realized the biggest change in the villains between the first 4 ALIEN films and the post-Prometheus is corporate greed was replaced with scientific. Fassbender's David is turning into a very interesting villain and is my only real curiosity about where the next film goes. The movie did well enough for its opening weekend so I suspect we'll see more Ridley Scott ALIEN movies.
  19. I just pre-ordered the 'making of' book that is to be released this week. The Art and Making of Alien: Covenant https://www.amazon.com/dp/1785653814/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_qKGizbNHGSV73 Also ordered this book too. Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report https://www.amazon.com/dp/160887866X/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_vMGizbM81RQP6
  20. Just saw it. Gory with amazing effects but that's about it. No real scares and an ending that was pretty weak. Based on footage we've seen in trailers I suspect there is a director's cut that could make this film better.
