I think Robotech fandom should be exiled from the Robotech fandom. Robotech's distance from Japanese animation, and Harmony Gold and the Robotech fan's total disrespect for the original shows, was/is an invitation for trolls, no-nothing poseur anime fans, and weirdo 'net kooks to come on in and be part of the problem. As for the date of his exile, that's CavScout's call. He's not quite finished with Bendo. Cav continues to try to debate with him, for fun, before he finally pulls the plug on the number one Robotech fan's advertisement venue and forum. He thought it livened up the board to have a controversial guy around. You can see signs of the end days though. He edited Bendo's post the other day and used mod voice for a second time.

3:10 "No, of course not. We're always gonna string the audience along." So here Tommy has confirmed the series is just a troll for people who want to see Hikaru again, just like I was saying before. That's officially what Robotech is about. Wow, they used to have me completely fooled. Back in the 80s and 90s I thought it was about something else entirely, protoculture and the Robotech Masters. Was anyone here ever a fan of what is now called "Robotech"? I never was, if we're talking about either the perception of what Robotech is, Remastered, live action, or Shadow Chronicles. The show now has the most retarded plot. Rick Hunter is the new Zor. If that's "Robotech" and what it always was retroactively then hell no I never liked it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQigyOA_xv0 Dammit, where is that boy? Antwan is losing his marbles!

Yeah, it might have been a little more realistic if he had a human skeleton. Was Rob Liefeld working there?

It looks like some sort of joke or parody skit about "what if Robotech were animated by people who only have a superficial understanding of Japanese animation and animation in general?" except it really happened! Harmony Gold actually paid inexperienced animators so they could experiment in making an anime. "Scott" looks hardcore baked, like he's marvelling at how ripped he is now that he's hit that entire blunt. His armor and his body has been drawn completely wrong. "Ariel"'s having some sort of intestinal problem. It's a train wreck.

Favorite VF pilot? (not necessarily the best)

If you eliminate votes on which one's the most alpha male, Gamlin wins. -
Oh god my eyes! Why Tommy why? Mospeada didn't do anything to you!

That's the new grab bag gift at convention panels. If you ask a cooperative question like "I love the wallet. What does the symbol on the wallet mean?", you get the wallet. edit: BTW Tom, it was appreciated that time I got the soundtrack after asking about HG's support of Michael Bradley. I'm glad it wasn't an MPC because if I wanted an MPC I wouldn't have sold mine.

Basara because he knew missiles weren't powerful enough to stop the Protodeviln. He gambaru'ed no matter what and saved everyone. He cared about Sivil and took all that time to try and revive her. The other members of Fire Bomber saw that in him and he made them want to be a part of it. Who's Roy Fokker? -
Maybe they'll wrap it up in 30 years. I Can't Believe It's Not Megaroad!

Yeah, that was really smart when they replaced 21 books with one movie, Shadow Chronicles, and it didn't even fit with the series anyway, all to bait and switch the audience with characters they don't have the rights to animate. It's actually quite weird when you're sober, but on Robotech fandom, it's normal.

I wonder how many Sentinels planets they'd be able to get through before Matchbox pulled the plug. Sometime around the liberation of Praxis seems like a good stopping point. About 5 weeks or 20 something episodes in, somebody at Matchbox sees an easy way to cut costs. Next week, many years later they're on Praxis and the new protoculture matrix sends the SDF-3 back to time to become the Robotech Masters. Week after that, Boobytrap airs again and now we know what happened to Admiral Hunter. edit: I would say the prototculture matrix blows up and everybody dies, but time travel was Macek's ending.

That's because Robotech in printed form was, unfortunately, a million times more sophisticated. Novels, comics, and RPGs (and to some extent video games) are the home of Robotech and that's why the 90s were actually Robotech in its prime. It's like that because Harmony Gold only has rights to make merchandise for Macross, they haven't been able to afford to tell the story in animation, and Robotech animation always looks old. Those are incidentally the #1 complaints about Robotech. There hasn't been a comittment of resources to do it right. I remember in the 90s we were told that making more Robotech would cost too much money. Then they made Robotech 3000 and it turned out they were right. Again they didn't have the copyrights to do it correctly. Again they couldn't finish it. Again the animation was already obsolete when it was made. They still didn't learn their lesson and made Shadow Chronicles. What if it was a set of comics or books instead?

Wow. That sounds great! This is why I need to check the series forum more often. For those looking to preorder, search for Nyankuri.

I've been a member here about 8 or 9 years and before that I was saying a bunch of garbage on AFM and the old board about Macross not being epic, or some other crap I parroted from the row boat cult, but I got over it and got myself a set of Macross 7 tapes. The number of users who regularly post on this board really attests to the immense popularity of Macross. It's undeniable the people like what they've seen. I like all the Macross series and Macross 7 is my favorite part. It's awesome.

We've replaced his HRP-4C with a Suzy Sucker Inflate-A-Mateā¢. Let's see if he notices.

Any relation to Maia from Captain Harlock and the Queen of a Thousand Years (by Harmony Gold)?

Apparently because I'm going to school, I'm not qualified to make any comments about Robotech. Never mind that all I get out of it nowadays is I like the old soundtrack and I occasionally write fanfic, both of which cost almost nothing. My OSM needs are mostly covered. I've got valks sitting around in and out of their boxes. Last thing I bought was a Mospeada artbook. I just found that Bartley I've been looking for. Is that what he's talking about? He thinks I need all the MPCs (Major Pieces of Crap) to show loyalty to MEMO? Who knows. Like I told him before, if he wanted to be somebody too, he can get a degree or join the armed forces. I'm getting mine in May. I wish him luck in becoming a professional broadcaster and in shooting himself without missing.

How Drugs Won The War, So Glad You Could Stop By For A Sip Of Sherry, slurm, and You Lying Hussy, I Thought You Were A Man coming 2011 from Harmony Gold

Is there a link to the announcement that Big West is currently not interested in the North American market for Macross? I thought I read somewhere that was the case. Did I already ask this? Also a link to "Macross Frontier is the last Macross planned" if there is any truth to that which there probably isn't, but I wanted to check since some people seem to think it was fact.

I'm in the conspiracy to turn Robotech into Macross, infiltrating their websites to spread lies about the upcoming worldwide Robo-mania because I'm jealous of how huge Robotech's going to be. Macross will disappear as the prophet rhade predicted. There's only going to be Robotech. At that time the loyal love feeling Robotech fans will be rewarded with virgins and the hate-filled Macross purists will burn in Hell for all eternity. My job as a Macross purist is to subvert the success of Robotech so it never happens and we get the virgins. I'll do this by posting on Internet forums which we have determined is the weak spot of Harmony Gold and Warner Bros.

If I understand correctly, if Harmony Gold were to use one of those designs, or the name of one of those designs, in new animation, then Harmony Gold would not get sued, but Tatsunoko would get sued and a copyright violation or breach in contract could then effect Harmony Gold as it flows downhill from Tatsunoko.
-
What do you think is the most innovative VF design?
Legioss replied to Xx-SKULL-ONE-xX's topic in Movies and TV Series
Whatever the newest Valkyrie is according to the definition on dictionary.com, something new introduced. My supervision textbook says innovation is "the process of turning a creative idea into a useful, product, service, or method of operation" and I think that best describes the VF-19 which was innovated from the YF-19 in Macross Plus as opposed to the YF-21 which didn't translate as quickly into the final product (right?). It was creative in how it's wings were constructed and in it's transformation. -
I remember someone at Harmony Gold saying, in an interview or convention video or something, they had an attorney or Tatsunoko tell them they had more rights than they thought they had. Anything else remember hearing that? Around the same time they were already using the "nobody was minding the store" story. Something similar happened more recently when they "realized" they had DYRL.

So, Big West registered it, but then since Harmony Gold was able to prove they used it first in the USA, they were able to register it when it was abandoned even though IIRC Manga was still selling Macross Plus DVDs and Toycom was about to release the toys and the even though the name is "Macross Plus", not "Macross".
