  1. I have the Megazone 23 Premium Box laserdisc set and included with it is a trailer where they say in English "Megazone Two Three". The Wikipedia article is wrong about it originating in Western fandom. The videos in the LD box and the English version were done in the 80s.
  2. You have to buy another copy of the show on the obsolete format DVD to get the documentary? Not that I care. I may never see it anyway unless they post it on Youtube. I haven't seen the 2-disc Shadow Chronicles extras either. The audience for this watched and liked Robotech The Movie? They need two versions of the Space Fortress Macross Boobytrap tape? The original shows, particularly Macross, are lost footage from Robotech in 2011? Why aren't these stills a book instead of slideshow in a video if they're so interesting? Remastered, and HG and their fan's interpretation of Robotech in general, is a bad dub of Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada with not much to justify the existence of Robotech. What the point even for people nostalgic about it? I hate Robotech "fans" who are ignorant of Japanese animation. I'm listening to this podcast and I just heard "Megazone Twenty Three" AGAIN. Would you morons stop saying that? It's Megazone Two Three!
  3. That's good intentioned, but there are too many credits and the three screens of voice acting credits look awkward. It distracts the viewer from enjoying the ending sequence.
  4. The way that Southern Cross toys would appear in the Robotech.com store would be Japanese-made toys like the ones they have from Megazone 23. To make new toys, Toynami needs something to justify it like "the new Robotech movie is going to be based on Robotech Masters", "there's a whole active website for Southern Cross with 537 pages in the member list", and/or "there are successful Japanese toys for it". There are successful models for Southern Cross. At least I assume they were midly succesful. There's justification for making some models, but in the latest panel sure enough they told some guy that models are out of style and wouldn't make money.
  5. 8:10 For the international distribution rights to DYRL, the film itself, they need the permission of Tatsunoko, Big West, and Toho. Big West distributes it in Japan. Tatsunoko is unable to give Harmony Gold the rights to the movie, only the merchandising. It seems to leave Toho by elimination. Look on the back of your Clash of the Bionoids tape box.
  6. Anyone notice HG essentially comfirmed Toho has the rights to DYRL? They seem real butthurt over it too, going on about confused rights and ongoing lawsuits.
  7. You're gonna sit up here and talk about Genesis Chamber Morserpedia, bring it into play, you know?
  8. Partially true. Maybe he did watch them without sound and couldn't understand most of what was being said. They also had translations given to them by Tatsunoko and made a dub of Macross before it became Robotech. Then, they used the translations to make Robotech and some of the dialogue was accidentally left in like Zentraedi from half a million years ago and Dana's brother. Neil Nadelman was told to use this translation at Streamline Pictures for the Robotech Perfect Collection tapes because Macek was sure it was writer's intention.
  9. The Berlusconi thing happened in 2006. It's kind of old news but it does tell you what type of guy would be running Harmony Gold and why he's spoken only twice to the fans, once on Robotech.com to deny the lawsuits effected them and again on a DVD to say how great Shadow Chronicles is. I wonder how much he even knows about Macross or Robotech. He probably knows it's about aliens attacking earth and how neat it is and that the kids will love this and that's it.
  10. Hypothetically, I'd rather have a statement by Frank Agrama of what's going to change. If he changed the company's culture and Tommy was forced to conform or leave then that would be good too. Then they'd have to do some pretty amazing stuff to pull out of where they're at now. They've done a lot of damage to Macross and Robotech. Making up for it would take a lot more than letting Tommy go.
  11. Huh what's all this about the Flower of Life and the Masters? I'll just ignore that part because I can't understand it and focus on protoculture as a fuel and how it relates to Rick Hunter as an old man on Star Trek or I'll turn protoculture into a god. I'll have lots of scenes of people with Marvel comics bodies saluting each other. It's all about how many references to Sentinels I can throw in there. Robotech to the Rescue!
  12. Then there was Sunwards.
  13. Given that Macross Saga seems to be the most popular section of Robotech, I was thinking about it one day and had an idea. If only they could take just the first part of Robotech, right, and then make it a show all by itself. Then they could make sequels to just the Macross part with a different story and a higher music budget. It would be the coolest show ever! They could call it "Macross" because it's only the first saga and in the credits it would say "Based on 'Robotech' by Carl Macek". Harmony Gold seriously should ask some studio in Japan if they'd be willing to do it. They could even get companies like, I don't know, Bandai and Yamato to make the toys. What do you guys think? Great name huh, "Macross". I like the sound of it.
  14. If you want to know about Robotech, just ask rhade. He's a longtime old guard Robotech master from back in the days of Shadow Chronicles. He'll inform you noobs of the correct path. If you're lucky the master will even take you on as an apprentice Harmony Gold apologist and teach you all the exciting secrets of shadow technology. You will believe the LAM and Shadow Rising are coming out soon.
  15. Shadow Chronicles won the Animated Movie Special Olympics that year. It was their big success. They can win again but they need enough people to push the wheelchair and rig the game for them.
  16. I might not have the exact ones you're referring to, but in 1993, Maxell HGX-Golds were all I was willing to record in until the stores stopped selling them. They still work fine. After that I switched to Maxell High Grade or TDK DSP.
  17. Oh yes, I love those beautiful Dong-Wook Lee character designs. You can tell he's a Macross Plus veteran. It's so breathtaking how wonderfully they complement the masterful artistic stylings of Tommy Yune. They did such a great job with Antwon I mean Vince's face and his shoulders are 5 heads apart, just like they're supposed to be. Never have I seen such great artwork.
  18. "All right, the Robotech Thruster! Can I use it first, Sir?" That's what it seems to me like they've been doing.
  19. There is a dead guy on the front page of Robotech.com with a new movie coming out.
  20. The alleged confusion and yes, that's I'm talking about.
  21. It was Toonami with it's anime and an 80s fad. Yeah, it wore off. The new series never happened. It takes a new series for a revival of Robotech. In addition to that, you got to consider that in the 90s there were 4 VHS releases (Palladium, Streamline, Streamline Perfect Collection, and new FHE), an LD release, Exo-Squad toy reissues, new novels, new RPGs, new comics, new soundtrack, a Robotech convention, and an attempt at making a new series. Compare that to this decade. Isn't it about the same?
  22. If Bandai and/or Toei has DYRL, that would explain HG's standard "confusion" excuse as to who has those rights. Whenever HG doesn't have the rights to some part of Macross they say "Nobody knows who has it. There's so many lawsuits flying around all over the place. It's so confusing!" or they'll give some vague double meaning answer implying a lie like "Does HG have the rights to use Macross characters in new animation?", "Yes, HG has all the rights to Robotech. Yes we can use Macross characters. Didn't you see the comics?"
  23. I know they only have the distribution and the merchandise. I was just saying that's how they were being obvious about avoiding Macross copyrights in Shadow Chronicles. If they had the rights, they certainly would have used them in those places in the movie. The Robotech.com cult (tongue twister) claims this isn't the case and HG was avoiding Macross copyrights by coincidence. Either that or they'd say that Rick Hunter being in the movie is proof all your Macross belong to HG, missing the point that it's the names and designs. But yeah, basically we agree.
  24. Sentinels actually does use a few copyrights owned by Big West, the names which are spelled different but said the same way. Lynn Minmei has her Macross name and still looks kind of like the Macross character. I don't see a way to claim it's a new character. That's obviously Minmei/Minmay in a different art style with her hair down. A handful of character names from Macross are also no coincidence. But these guys are saying Tatsunoko can do that again, in 2011, because they did it in 1986. It's like you said, they would have done it in Shadow Chronicles. Marcus would have talked about the Zentraedi in his narration. Maia would have said she's Zentraedi. They can't even say Zentraedi and this was right after releasing Battlecry and a bunch of comic books with Macross characters. Either Harmony Gold's Macross rights for animation have noticeably changed or they've just started respecting those limits and either way it's the same. They're so stupid. They're obsessed with making new movies about a show they know they don't own the designs or names for when they don't have to. WB is dumb too. They really think they've licensed Macross to make a movie with it?
