The Transformers 2 Thread--A Michael Bay thread
kaiotheforsaken replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Seeing as how the Fallen is in the movie, it's safe to assume that at least part of his established lore is there. Also Megatron only appearing in flash backs which supposedly explain the origin/lineage of the Primes means that you could get quite a bit more story. Of course, so many people are ready to condemn the movie before it's out that they may never see any improvements. Also, TF has been 99.9% good robots smashing bad robots. I could see "fans" screaming about their being too much story. Additionally, whether you like the new Transformers or not, the success of the first movie was awesome for the franchise. I know people who didn't even like Transformers become fans because of it. I just say be content with the fact that TF is still lucrative enough to warrant huge budgets for movies, new toy development, etc. -

I dunno about that. Some of the movie toys look pretty damn good and the newer releases like Cyclonus have been stellar. I'd say overall they're getting substantially better, especially the movie ones. Also how is a hyper advanced alien robot turning into ANYTHING believable? -

Frank Welker to potentially grace TF2 as Soundwave http://movies.ign.com/articles/960/960866p1.html -
Trials are basically there for the little icon things, that's it. Or I'll even go out on a limb and say that normal trials 1-3 can be helpful. Beyond that it basically isn't anything practical that you'll use in real matches.

Looks like Hugo Weaving will reprise his roll as Megatron http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=15324 also Bay comments on Megatron in the movie http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/new...e-sequel/15326/ I like Weaving so I'm glad to see him reprise the role, even if for a few lines. -

Leader Prime actually looks really damn good. I'm really impressed with how much more accurate he is. That's probably about as close as we could expect to get from a movie toy. I was really let down by the original movie Prime, but I'll probably shell out for this one. -
In terms of content there is no difference. That being said, for the standard controller the PS3 is widely regarded as better. If you have an arcade stick of some kind it matters less.

Dear sweet lord I lost some respect for COB after hearing that. I still have most of their albums though, they are a pretty decent group. As for me, I've got a heavy metal and industrial side to my collection. Some of my long standing favorites are KMFDM, Front 242 and VNV Nation. Used to be a huge Metallica fan, but I dunno, the new album is better but it doesn't recapture it totally for me. New additions to the library include Marduk (any of the albums with Legion or earlier, the new singer doesn't do it for me), Devian and Amon Amarth. My standard line is "if it's Industrial, I'll probably like it" as for metal, it's kinda been like a drug. Metallica was like my gateway drug and I've been moving to harder bands as time goes on.

Ken's head is on there pretty good. It still feels like a ball joint, but I like the figure so I've used as much force on it as I'm willing to

Got him this morning (Gouken) Wound up with like 3 perfects, 4 ultra finishes and first attacks on almost every match. So more than enough to meet the requirements. I was kinda shocked, I wasn't expecting to get him right off. I also found a use for Zangief. I'm not really a fan of the guy, but the AI is dumb enough to get continuously owned by his Lariat moves. It makes the endurance challenge mode or w/e completely trivial. I'll probably go in with Akuma tonight and put some actual effort in there, but to just get the costumes, Gief worked wonders. Edit: Also, the best way is to go 1 round matches. You cannot lose a round if you ratchet up the rounds per match and the requirements get higher. Also be sure to have beaten arcade with Akuma as well before you go through your unlock playthrough.

I did exactly as the strat said. Took me a couple tries cause I nubbed it on Seth and had to start over. Did it on easiest, 1 round matches, only bothered with 1 perfect. So that's weird you didn't get him.

After giving this game some more serious playing I have to say, I hate hate hate the 360 controller for this game. It's amazing when you are trying to do some of the most simple moves and your character just jumps up and down for 20 seconds. So I'd say an arcade stick is worth the investment and I'll be getting one. Game is still lots of fun though, really love Akuma so far.

I actually have been using Ken, even though I was never a huge SF fan before this, I always liked the character. Still, I may graduate to Akuma now that I have him. He seems pretty complex and I'm still learning the ins and outs, so that may not be a smart move.

Zangief gives me the most trouble out of all the opponents I've come across NPC or human. I dunno what it is about that guy. Did take the plunge though and picked the game up this afternoon. Need a stick now, my thumbs are killing me .

I would also imagine this is more realistically a 1 time purchase, maybe two if they do a full blown TV version. I'm sure someone out there would buy 4 if they came out with both versions so they could showcase it in all modes. BUT for most of us that would buy it, one is plenty sufficient. It's not like valks which seem to compel people to buy multiples.

Nothing that I've seen indicates a difference in content. If memory serves Ubi has been part of EA for some time and EA basically puts out the same thing on every platform. So they should be identical other than maybe some very minor graphics differences.

Even though I've never been a huge SF fan, I've always though Ken was pretty cool. So naturally I chose him when I got a chance at the controls. He, and Ryu for that matter, seem the most..I dunno noob friendly I guess. I could get him to launch the Hadoken all day long and same with his whirlwind kick, but I could not get his Shoryuken to go off, I mostly just did it by mistake. This is my own fault of course, and probably partially to my not knowing exactly what the some of the joystick movements mean in the move list screen. Still, me and my buddies have the title for 2 weeks, so hopefully I'll get to play with it enough so that buying it and unlocking things is realistic for me. My buddies played with many other characters too with varied degrees of success. Though we are all new enough to the series to not really offer commentary on them.

Me and a few buds gave it a rental last night. So far it seems good, I can't pull off as many moves as regularly as I'd like (like the ultras, I just cant get the consecutive quarter turns right). I'm not sure if it's my timing, but that will just take practice I suppose. Don't like Seth though, it got better as the night went on, but dear god he was relentless, even on the easiest mode.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

Mistransformed and blurry or not, it looks freaking amazing. -
I say they go big or go home, I hope they keep it this size. I probably wont be able to shell out for one right off, but still the SDF-1 should not be having any valks towering over it. I think making the biggest f*cking Macross toy yet (as far as I know) is actually the right move.

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III

Yeah that was Kat's boyfriend and Paula has been a member of Baltar's..group for a while. She was the one who clubbed that guy to death in the bathroom in the eps that immediately followed the trial. So she's been around since then, though typically in minor bits. -

Not to sound like a d*ck or anything, but it seems like you're just posting to up that number under your avatar. I don't really see how that brings anything relevant to the thread and it's barely even on topic. On another note, I think things need to ratchet up pretty heavily. We have what...four episodes left now? This latest one wasn't filler obviously (there aren't any fillers in S4 anyways) but it kinda felt that way. I suppose if the last 2 episodes wind up being 2ish hours each that makes up for the slow time but still, I'd like to see them wring more intensity out of our final stretch. Edit: http://movies.ign.com/articles/953/953459p1.html a link about the BSG movie. Not a ton of info but it's there and seems to be based on the old school show as mentioned earlier. -
I'm the same way, my "main" Shepard was male and it was weird to see a female in the role or even a different male Shepard. Between the customization at the beginning, combined with the moral choices and training ones I grew very attached to the character I had created, it'd be a shame to lose him (or her). It's also part what made ME special imo, it really felt like MY character, not me playing something that was all nice and laid out by Bioware. So fingers crossed the trailer is misleading.

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III

I too was hoping more would happen and I'm slightly disappointed that Ellen steadily regressed to the character I was happy to be rid of. She got better towards the end, but if she's going to be a jealous, binge drinking tart again, I'd just assume she had stayed dead. I'm curious if all that brain activity was Sam coming back, or maybe we get like..Daniel in Sam's body or something (hopefully nothing that weird). Nice to see Head Six again, I had thought we had seen the end of her. I love this show, but some of the writing bothers me. One episode Bill is defending the Cylons and saying things like "they gave aid and comfort to me" and the next episode he's like "no Cylons working on the repairs". Also Baltar seems to make no progress at all. When he was on the Baseship a few episodes ago, I thought perhaps he was going to turn over a new leaf. This week it was just the same old Baltar. It's nothing major, it just feels like sometimes they stunt the characters growth for no particular reason. -
I've never ever been a SF fan (mainly because most fighting games I fail at) but I'm really tempted to play this one. For those who have played it, would this be a good installment to break into the series with or should I back track to something older?
