The All Things Video Games Thread!
kaiotheforsaken replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Actually mine is B/C, truth be told I've probably played more old games on it than new ones. Maybe I'll go hunt down a copy of Shadow. Also, in terms of The Last Guardian, I really really hope the Penny Arcade prophecy is wrong: http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/6/8/ -
The All Things Video Games Thread!

Ahh ok, I managed to not read the PS3 thread. Still i think you're right, it's greatness is essentially assured. I've managed to miss out on Ico and Shadow, though I saw Shadow played, I wont be missing this one. -
Funny, I was just wondering if there had been any info about the Alien revy. As for the new EVAs, I like them, but I was profoundly disappointed with the original Revoltech EVAs so I'll have to pass on these until I see how much better they are.

The All Things Video Games Thread!

I skimmed the last few pages and didn't see any mention of this potential gem. From the makers of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus comes The Last Guardian http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-the-last/50284 -
I'm not sure how far they'll take the romance thing in the remaining two anyways. Mass Effect wasn't exactly gum drops and rainbows and this installment is supposed to be way darker, may not be much time for a love connection. Especially if Shepard drops under the radar or something to get this mission done. Neither Ash nor Kaiden really interested me as characters, they both could've eaten it and I'd have been ok. Ash was alright I suppose, but her somewhat anti-alien stance sorta put me off. Garus and Wrex though were good characters and I liked how their attitudes could really change based on how you handled them.

The Transformers 2 Thread--A Michael Bay thread
kaiotheforsaken replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It wasn't as spoilery as I thought it'd be, though there were some. Looking forward to this movie though, IMAX is supposed to have a longer cut with something like 4 added sequences that including more robot ass kicking. -
If you put the game on your 360 HD it got better. I kinda hope we at least get Wrex back if he survived your ME play through, I always liked him. I think I've seen a Quarian with Shepard in the screens, I wonder if that's Tali. I guess only time will tell. Hopefully the game doesn't get pushed back any farther.
-
Yeah the Normandy one was the worst. On another note, I wonder if the characters that survived ME will be able to join Shepard in ME2, or if they'll just be cameos.

The fallout wiki mentioned a work around the GFWL thing, but it's not exactly official. I avoided it on PC for just that reason, my buddy has it on PC though, so I could check with him. If Steam does offer a license transfer, that's news to me, but that doesn't mean they don't. I've been steering clear of more PC games because of stuff like SecuROM. I know Steam's service makes SecuROM moot, but some publishers still attach it when distributing it through Steam. It's sad too, because I like my PC and would rather play on it, especially after what it cost. But the hassle that some of this anit-piracy stuff causes just makes me opt out.

I believe registering the key ties it to your Games for Windows account/login, much like Steam. So once it's tied to an account it stays that way. Don't quote me on it though.

Well to be fair, animations and writing seemed vastly improved over Oblivion. At least your character has jump animations in 3rd person this time. They also improved the look of their models and character creation imo. I actually like quite a bit of the writing in Fallout 3, the delivery is just a little dry, but I recognize a lot of non-main character voice actors from Oblivion, so it's to be somewhat expected. Improvements wouldn't hurt, but I'm pretty happy with what Bethesda releases. With the open ended world and morality options in this game, Lionhead should start taking notes. Well I know you PS3 guys are getting it on the PS store and I believe the game of the year edition with all 5 packs will be released on both consoles. Not sure about packs being released on a disc for you guys though. The 360 one is a bust anyways imo as it's Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt, and really Broken Steel is the most important. But you still have to buy that off the live store.

From an IGN interview with one of the Fallout devs IGN: Will anything in Point Lookout or Mothership Zeta give us hints about what to expect in Fallout: New Vegas? Todd Howard: No, New Vegas is a totally different game being developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Still you have point Lookout at the end of this month and Mothership Zeta next month. I just picked this up last weekend and have spent way more hours than I care to admit playing it. It's really an amazing game. Even though it feels a lot like Oblivion with guns and further draw distance, there is just something about this game I find far more enjoyable, can't quite place it though.

There were some damn slow elevators, but I *think* they were designed to hide loading screens, which I'm all for. More random news events/conversations would be nice for when you're riding them though.

Really level isn't that big deal to me. The choices I made are the big thing, it seems like the game is really shaped by how you played ME1. I'd like to see my Shepard's look carry over too, the voice just seems wrong coming out of any other version now. I have a kind of attachment with those aspects of my character more so than his level or abilities. I also see it from Bioware's point of view, if you were level 60 with all level X weapons like I'm sure many players are (myself included) you'd be able to blow through all but the hardest difficulty with relative ease. In the end, who Shepard was and how you crafted him/her within the context of the story seems far more important to carry over.
-
IGN had a little snippet from Bioware about Shepard's fate, I'll spoiler tag it to be safe.
-
I f*cking love Bioware. Hearing Shepard again and seeing that trailer gave me the biggest sh*t eating grin ever.
-
There is, but it looks way lame compared to that.

The Transformers 2 Thread--A Michael Bay thread

Might want to spoiler tag part of your post Flabor, you're venturing into that realm and people don't like surprises unintentionally ruined. -
Fair enough, admittedly I'm no metal expert. Of all my gripes about the film that was way down on the list. The helicopters flying so close to a nuclear blast at the end was more irritating. But those are mostly just nit picks, I thought the story itself was fairly shallow and uninteresting. Aside from metal skeletons, it didn't feel like Terminator to me.
-
Not to mention, Raiden has actually come into his own quite a bit with the events of 4. I'd like him to be his own unique entity, not just another clone, especially if they decide to focus an entire game on him.

I think Akiba had blue eyes. I thought something was up when he pulled off his mask in MGS4. He kind of reminded me of Liquid.

Is Anime insulting your intelligence?
kaiotheforsaken replied to Excillon's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Starts with Gurren and ends with Lagann and makes Gundam look lame as hell. -
At that point in the series they power up so many times it's hard to keep track. But yes it did have some screen time.

Arnold went offline within half a minute of his head being submerged within the molten metal. It's reasonable to assume that the damage to the components of both Marcus and the 800 should have been more substantial, and it seems silly that it wasn't. But the entire film was silly in my opinion and had almost no point. After watching the first two again this weekend, it's really obvious how far off the mark this film really is.
-
Considering Arnold was "killed" at the end of T2 by being lowered in molten slag, seems sort of odd that this 800/101 could survive it. While one could argue that they were different metals and/or kept at different temperatures it's not really relevant. The 800 was presented as essentially invincible (yet somehow Marcus could basically tear its head off...yeah, ok). As for the surgery, sure you don't see it, but seeing as how he goes out and wakes up on the same table in the middle of the friggin desert or whatever, it is a safe assumption it was done on site.
