Battlestar Galactica Discussion III

That's a pretty good deal for the Blu-ray set...so tempting. -
Sequels that we DON'T want to see!!
kaiotheforsaken replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
For the 90s and when my taste in movies was 100% satisfied by crap blowing up and a few curse words and crappy 1 liners. -

There hasn't been a good Nick Cage movie since The Rock and the only reason he didn't suck that whole thing up was because 90s acting was lame enough you couldn't tell how bad he actually was. -
Speaking of Alternity, looks like the next one will be Bumblebee http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/new...revealed/16486/ And Bigbadtoystore has him up on pre-order as well.

I'd do it, the V1's are pretty fugly anyways imo.

The Transformers 2 Thread--A Michael Bay thread
kaiotheforsaken replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
An interview with Orci and Kurtzman, discusses several things regarding TF2 including their reaction to robots with gold teeth. http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/features/...merican-way.php -
Oh I totally agree. If they didn't have the Mechalive stuff present and the need for the batteries in his back, they probably could have swung the fenders inside the body and given us a slightly more streamline back area. Movie Prime is a great figure, and really pretty close to movie accurate, but removing some of the gimmicks could have knocked it out of the park. On a side note, TRU is having a 50% off sale on some Transformers, including animated. You can pick up Leader class Ultra Magnus for about $20 for example.

I imagine if they had a movie Prime that ran $100-150 and was under the MP branding you'd see something pretty amazing. Not that I don't like G1 Prime, in fact that MP Prime was/is one of my favorite items in my collection. Though I think I've actually come to like his movie design better overall.

He was originally a Decepticon but changed sides. If memory serves this is fairly common amongst all his appearances not just the movie one. I suppose he just never asked anyone on Earth for a new paint job

The Transformers 2 Thread--A Michael Bay thread
kaiotheforsaken replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It is the same actor, but not the same character. He's like a personal friend of Michael Bay or something and so Bay tries to include him in his movies. The general he plays in ROTF even shares the last name of the real actor. Bay mentioned it in an interview a few months back. -
Hopefully they wont, if they can figure out how to get Oblivion to play on it (you could hotkey soooo many things in that game) I'm sure they can come up with a viable control scheme without compromising the game. Or hey, maybe they'll go the Steel Battalion route and just include a crazy controller with 200 buttons. Mechassault was fun, but it didn't really feel like a MW game. Hopefully the trailer gives us some indication of what we might see actually playing the game as that footage has some very traditional elements in it.

Well since they already "borrowed" some things from Macross why not borrow some of the title? I really hope we see a nice variety of Mechs though. Since this is a reboot I'm not sure how the time line would work, but I'd love to see some of the designs from MW3 and 4. Never been too savvy on the time line though so this may be out of the question.

I pretty much agree with what has been said here. Hasbro should just do away with (or severely reduce the size) the light/sound components. If they had done so on Prime, we might have gotten waist articulation or even just a place to hide those fenders. I have no idea how much space the electronics on Jetfire take up, but I'm sure they could do better without them. Still even a reduction would be nice, AA batteries may be easy and relatively cheap, but electronics that run off say...a couple of watch batteries would be nice if Hasbro insisted on staying with light/sound. Hell just take it out all together and give us nicer paint apps on the first release, that'd be okay too.

I really hope it is, I want them to knock it out of the park on this one.

It says in game footage right on the video though. Unless they are basically...well lying and mean that it's "in game cinematics" or something than I'd say that means it's the actual engine. The graphics are good for Today's standards, but I would say they are lacking for high end FMVs. I have no reason to suspect that it isn't the engine based on the tag present on the video.

I know he said j/k, but for the sake of clarification, PC and 360 is what the article says.

Holy crap those colors are awful. They should just include "Painting required" on the freakin box.

Basically, there was an actual game called Mechwarrior 5 that was announced when Fasa and the Mechwarrior license were still owned by Microsoft. It's been gosh...probably 4+ years since they canned it though. This game is brand new and from what I'm reading is considered more of a reboot of the whole series rather than just a sequel to MW4, hence the game just being called Mechwarrior.
-
Good lord that Jetfire looks...sad from underneath. What's even more unfortunate is that since he is well...dead, we probably wont get ever get an upgraded version like they did for the new Prime.

Off topic: Now Freelancer is a game I'd like to see a sequel to. On topic: Seeing some of that in game footage really impressed me. Even in the video I got a good sense of the weight and power behind the Mech, and I'm sure this will be accentuated more by how it handles. Serious plus imo, it seemed like speed was really the only way to differentiate on the older ones. Also there are some really nice things going on graphics wise, the buildings crumbling, the gun barrel getting hot after the PPC shot. While I suppose this stuff is pretty common now, it sure is nice to see it in Mechwarrior. I believe the MW that was being worked on with the FEAR engine was MW5 which got canned.
-
Well you are certainly keeping costs down by limiting which series to buy up. Still, ROTF Prime is one of the best Transformers I've owned, movie or otherwise and is easily the best figure of either movie line.

I wish if they were gonna go all out with the paint, they'd fix some of the places that have no paint but should. For example his bicep area has a silver band that should be blue w/red flames (or visa versa). There are also two spots on his stomach area that are supposed to be blue but are just molded in silver. There's also a few little spots on his head that should be silver, but those are easier to remedy. Silver seems easier to match vs the Red and Blue. Still chromed up would look mighty nice and the additional features makes it hard to pass up.

The All Things Video Games Thread!
kaiotheforsaken replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Just got a chance to play Blazblue tonight and my god is it awesome. I've been playing a lot of SF4, but this game is a really refreshing change. My only complaint would be a slightly small roster, but overall I highly recommend this game to anyone who is looking to expand their fighting game library. -
http://pc.ign.com/articles/100/1002275p1.html Full article is up. Oh and here is an actual trailer ...and now that I've watched it...holy hell, I cannot wait for this sucker to come out. The engine looks really nice and it seems to capture some of the old MW goodness.

Mechwarrior 3 was the best of the series imo, I really hope that if this is in fact a new MW game (and I hope it is) that they really go all out.
