I have Wipeout HD, though I'll have to check what my user id is for my PS3, it has been collecting a fair amount of dust until recently.

The Alien/Predator/Aliens vs. Predator Thread
kaiotheforsaken replied to VT 1010's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Sigourney has always been a big time anti gun advocate. There are scenes on the special features which show her trying to get the guns out of her hands asap after cut is called in scenes on Aliens. Iirc she helped produce Alien 3 and probably had a bit more pull as a result than in 1 and 2. Guns certainly don't make an Alien flick though, the first one had torches jury rigged as flame throwers and that was about it. Frankly one thing that bothered me about Aliens was they fact they blew through them like they were made paper. -

3 could have been more, but overall I really enjoy that particular installment. Resurrection I enjoyed as well until the Newborn came along, didn't really like the ending or its design. -
I think they've only said first quarter of 2010, but it was originally supposed to be out the end of this year, so I still subject to change I suppose.

Video game company blunders

I actually enjoyed Advent Rising to a certain degree. While I don't know which version you played, the PC one had much nicer controls overall vs the console version. Still it wasn't perfect by any means. I mainly played through it since the story was penned by Orson Scott Card. Now a real stinker was Too Human. I wanted that game to be good, I was intrigued by everything about it, but the controls killed it within the first 45 minutes. -
Seibertron is reporting the official release date for Buster Prime as Nov. 21st. Looks like Amazon Japan is taking pre-orders (but I can't read Japanese so that part is just a guess).

I actually like the balance they struck with the paint, the only other pieces I could see maybe working as chrome is the parts for the gun. I think if they had done everything else in chrome it may have become overbearing. I think the look for this one is a good balance. The head sculpt seems to indicate he wont incorporate a retractable mouth plate/mask which kind bums me out. That being said, the improvements overall to him are fantastic imo.

Some New (clear) shots of Buster Prime Edit: Had a chance to look them all over now that I've posted. He looks absolutely fantastic. Almost everything (except those tool boxes or w/e) are painted correctly, if that figure could be higher than "must buy" status for me, it would be now.

Sam Raimi To Helm "Warcraft" Film
kaiotheforsaken replied to Ladic's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
There is a lot of decent fantasy lore in the Warcraft universe. I hope they keep more on the serious side of things ala the RTS games instead of the MMO which is a little watered down. -
From what I understand the Basterds are actually the lesser of the 3 intertwined story lines. The trailer kinda paints the movie different than it actually is.

The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread

Or SS in the city where he is fighting with the other F-22s. He is constantly swapping modes to get a good shot at the other fighters which I thought was pretty awesome and fairly different. I like the bayformers too, especially Prime. To me they got all his elements right, the head (especially in "combat" mode), the right distribution of red and blue, and well...Peter Cullen (though he isn't a design element). Even if they bayformers weren't my favorite, I would still take their designs any day of the week over say...Energon era designs. That being said, the live action designs are readily becoming my favorite just because they really do seem real on screen.Especially on IMAX when you get shots that have them shown in actual size. -
Perfect, thanks a lot.

I can respect that, and in some cases completely agree. Despite all the flack RotF gets I think it at least tried to do that a bit more. The inclusion of Soundwave and Ravage as well as including the idea of the original Primes and the Fallen was part of that. How well they succeeded is ultimately up to the individual. -
Semi OT but David maybe you can help me out here since you've pulled apart a couple of TFs. Do you have a reliable way to get those metal rods out of joints? I wanted to do some custom paint on a few RotF figures but I'm really not sure how to go about taking those areas apart.

I think SS used his jet mode to great effect in the first film actually, there were other examples, but he was definitely the prime (no pun intended) example. If I had to pick only 1 thing to defend of the live action films it would be the robot designs. They look and feel substantially more real than anything generated in the 80s. The G1 designs have their charm and their place, but I think it would be a horrible idea to see them in a live action environment. To be clear, I was strongly against the first concept art we saw, especially of Prime. On screen though, where these are supposed to be real things, I think it works wonderfully. They are lifelike (at least as lifelike as a 40 foot transforming robot can be) and expressive and things like this help a larger audience identify and relate with them. I'm fairly positive that these movies would have tanked almost entirely if some of the old school fans got their way. If they removed the human element and brought in heavily influenced G1 designs like some people want I'd bet you wouldn't see these films pushing $800 million world wide. -
While jet mode will be the real test, if that shot is of his actual bot mode, then I am already impressed.

My thoughts exactly, I don't mind him so much though (I know others do). But to be fair, he did listen to fans with regards to certain things, so maybe we could at least look forward to a little less robot balls. I don't think he's going to deviate from his directing style too much though with the action shots. RotF is probably about as zoomed out as we're gonna get (but again I really don't mind that style). -

He has a face mask when fighting and quite frankly that has been a staple of Prime designs for a long time. Even BW had it, though he didn't put it on a great deal. I doubt we'll see redesigns or less humans for reasons I've said in one of the threads. I also doubt they'll get a new director, in which case the fight scenes will probably be very similar. -
Bandai did a decent series of model kit type things that with a little paint looked pretty good. Though they are a bit dated at this point and it'd be nice to see decent figure incarnations of the characters. Still if the original Megaman is a hit maybe we'll see w/e that series is continued on further.
-
Wow please let those be regular releases. I'd like to see Megaman X and Zero done up like that.
-
I just noticed that despite all his wonderful new paint, the tool boxes (or w/e they are) by his knees are still only painted silver on one side. Minor nitpick, but still, you would think with all the paint improvements that they would fix that too.

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III

Wow, I hadn't even seen that website till the other day. I'm pretty much in the same boat as David, I own all of BSG except 4.5. Still, I'm a sucker for boxed sets. On a totaly OT note, I dig the avatar/arcade stick -
They added Blue to his feet and silver to his head and face! He's basically perfect now
