Some additional tidbits. You will have the chance to alter your Shepard's appearance and swap classes. I personally wont tweak anything, but it's nice they included it. Seeing that the game was 2 discs and that old favorites are returning (Tali was announced last week I believe) have made me pretty happy.

The last few minutes I can take or leave but other than that I thought the ending was very fitting. -
The End of the Decade thread......
kaiotheforsaken replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
* Best/Worst Anime (film/TV series/OAV) - Gurren Lagann for best...not sure about worst * Best/Worst SF (film/TV series) - Best sci-fi TV series would definitely be the new BSG, film...hmm the new Trek or District 9 * Best comeback - definitely Star Trek, at least from an entertainment standpoint * Best/Worst Game of the decade - That's a toughie, probably Mass Effect for best, I have no idea for worst * Most consistent game developer - Bioware * Best/Worst Game platform of the decade - I'm gonna say the Wii. It's a good idea, but the only games I've really found that are worth a crap are first party. It's just kind of become a dumping ground for lousy 3rd party titles in an effort to cash in on soccer moms and 5 year old kids. * Greatest addition to your toy/model/DVD collection - probably this bad boy, just because of how rare he is. -
Good plan, DA:O is substantially better on the PC

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III

Regardless of what some people say, I think RDM puts a pretty nice bow on everything by the end. I think the explanation of the Final 5 is actually quite good. -

ugh Kally, no thanks >.< Racetrack was seriously hot though. Katee can look really good, but most of the show she didn't. and for those who don't remember: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1489668/ -
Not a Bandai product, but it sorta fits here. Looks like we are getting a diecast R9-A from R-type Final. It appears to be identical to the garage kit that was produced a few years back (think hobbyfan still sells recasts). The kit was excellent and I'm looking forward to adding this to my R-type fleet. http://www.shopncsx.com/r-typemadougokinrwf-9aarrowhead.aspx and by sorta I mean barely...since it's a metal collectible. Just figured it was too niche to get its own thread.

Definitely stick with the a console that's backwards compatible if that's important to ya. Sony has been on and off about that patch. Originally they were gonna do it, then they said no dice, now it's up in the air. IMO it was lame to remove the feature, especially if it can be PATCHED back in and has nothing to do with hardware.

Your Favorite (Best) Fight Scenes
kaiotheforsaken replied to Ghost Train's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Most of the Advent Children fight scenes are good, especially the last one. on another note, Daigo vs Justin will always be epic. As for good fights, anything from the Matrix flicks I like, especially the subway battle and the lobby scene from the first one. The last fight in V for Vendetta was pretty bad ass as well. There's lots of good ones. -

The All Things Video Games Thread!

As a warrior most of the encounters were easier, as you have an ability available which allows you to be immune to knockdown. The healing AI though makes me want to pull my hair out, especially on the final boss. I wont spoil anything, but throughout the game, no matter how I had configured the AI for her she would consistently stand in AoE or cone attacks and die in 1-2 hits, for most tough encounters, without fail. The story was compelling, but what bioware story isn't? I even liked the combat for a time, but really it was the combat that made me say once was enough. -

In a combat sense it's very much like an mmo, with the auto attack, hit powerful spells when they are available method. However the console version lacks the isometric view option, which makes it a pain in the ass to do things like rez a fallen hero. It also makes character positioning and analyzing the field a bit more clunky. On consoles it feels very much like FF12 especially with tactics and ally AI, FF12 just did it much much better. It also reminds me of ME with the character interactions, ally specific quests, choices and background influencing people's reaction to you. I also feel like Dragon Age makes you work a bit more for some of the character tidbits. I felt strong connections to certain characters the first time I'd meet them in ME and it didn't hit me that way with many of the characters in this game. I'm not saying it was bad, even though it sorta looks that way, but in the end it just made me want ME2 more. -

There is a lot of things I like about Dragon Age, especially the character interaction. But I can't help but feel it's the the abandoned child of ME and FF12. The tactics system is just...inferior in my opinion as is some of the AI behavior options. I also think combat control is lacking, especially in advanced tactics. Why cant I make my healer hold position out of range but have the tank be able to dynamically move back to a boss after knock back? I did enjoy the game, but a lacking AI/tactics system and lack of being able to carry your character over to harder difficulties has pretty much killed it dead after a single play through. I started playing ME again though, for probably the 6-7th time. -

The other BSG movie, at least in terms of what I've heard takes place with the original series canon and not the Ron Moore BSG. -
This most recent episode was just great. Whale Wars comes off as being this insanely dramatic show where activists fight to defend whales and really, like South Park said, it's just a bunch of vegan p***ies standing around doing nothing. They utterly fail at almost every turn and when they take real action (at the end of the season) they basically get arrested. I'm glad someone took aim at that show. The Deadliest Catch bit had me rolling, but I really like that show actually.

Rammstein's new album hit here in the states this past Tuesday. Really solid work and probably my favorite album of theirs.

Well the newer EVAs have almost no metal in them either, but look at the Big O. Imagine if that things arms (for example) were metal, it'd be a saggy floppy mess you couldn't pose in just a few months. Not to mention it is one of the only Big O products available if you like the mech. I'd really like to pick one up, but I have to be pretty picky about purchases as we get into the holidays.

The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread
kaiotheforsaken replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It'd be nice if we could limit these threads on TF to you know...news about the movie, rumors about the movie things like that. Not random crap about crucifying Michael Bay, childhoods being raped, or any other bitching that has been posted 800 trillion times. Bay isn't going away, the designs aren't going away. Some of the writers did go away, but its the two the wrote Trek, not the one that came in and helped on TF:2. So it is what it is, you wont ever get G1 Prime walking out onto screen with this series of live action movies. You wont see them fire Michael Bay or anything like that. -
The Guilty Pleasure thread.
kaiotheforsaken replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The Micro is awesome! As for me, Alien 3, the last 2 Matix flicks, Michael Bay's Transformers flicks. I'm sure there's more. I have to agree with some of the other stuff posted though, I never thought of Dire Straits as a guilty pleasure, they were a really good group and were pretty damn huge.- 393 replies
