Second season of GitS: Stand Alone Complex!

Rather then make a new thread, this seemed the best place to ask this question.. I'll mark it for spoilers, since the episodes haven't aired on AdultSwim yet but are on the 4th DVD Volume. In episodes 15 and 16, we learn that the Tachikomas are being sent back to the research lab due to their rapidly developing AIs. Do they come back? I'm rather fond of the big lugs, so I'd be kind of upset if they just got rid of 'em... =\ -

Just that it's likely the Psycho Gundam equivilent of this series. It bares a vague resembelence to the Serpent Customs from Endless Waltz, too.. -

Well, in Japan most shows show one time a week, with no re-runs.. so recap episodes every so often are only fair. Gundam Seed DID get excessive, though, with its 4 recap episodes. -

NEW(ER) AVP (Aliens versus Predator) Trailer.
DarkPhoenix replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yep, I noticed that when I saw it at the cinema, which is one of the main reasons why I purchased the DVD. Gotta love that pause and slow-mo function Graham My favorite part of that scene has to be watching it with the commentary on so she proudly proclaims "TWAT SHOT!" Yes, that's what can save an over-bugeted B-movie...the soft-core porn. It worked for Species. -

LOL.....I'll have to watch that part with the commentary on. I usually never bother with commentaries, find them too boring. Graham They just have fun with this commentary. It's the main actors and the producer or director, can't remember which. One guy is talking about how they made a certain scene at the beginning, then as Milia gets out of the shower she tells him to shut up 'cause you're about to see her nipple.. >XD The latino chick talks about how she wanted to stab that zombie in the eye, break that one in half.. and they spend a lot of time making fun of another actor's love of pudding. It's just so utterly bizarre and fun in how little it resembles the commentaries MOST DVDs come with. -

(it's Waltfeld btw...) But yes, the "Desert Tiger" is piloting the gold Murasame. Besides him dying a hero's death...what can go wrong? He already lost 1 arm....and an eye.... In episode 14 we see it in mobile armour mode, not gold. Maybe the gold color is its Phase Shift armour, thus the "hero feature" of his Muramase. Or maybe it doesn't look so goldy in mobile armour mode. Look further back. The front of it seems to be made up of its shield, which is not gold. -

There already is a Gelgoog, the GuAIz. It fills the same role as the Gelgoog did, and resembles it in a few ways. Honestly, I'd of prefered the 'Gouf' of been a rebuilt Zaku, ala' the ez8 compared to a standard RX-79[G]. While I'd /love/ more Doms too, that'd be going a bit far.. Providence was our Zeong. It looks like we're getting a Psycho Gundam this time around. -

Alien vs Predator: Extinction is limited, but what it /does/ do it does fairly well. Three campaigns, one for each species, and no skirmish mode. The gameplay is simplified, with no real building to worry about (Aliens have one 'building' they can make, but it doesn't produce units, merely serves as a healing point) because you have a specific unit that you use to purchase other units from, using points earned by killing things.. Predators can get extra points by liberating corpses of their skulls, and humans can fix 'ATMOS' units to get a fixed number of credits out of them over time. Aliens kind of get it in the shorts, with no extra source of credits, but then again their standard units don't cost anything.. Marines are straight forward. Techcomm, who orders units, Marines, Flamethrowers, Smartgunners, Androids, 'SADAR' rocket launcher users, snipers, and combat Exosuits. Each unit has an upgrade to its effectiveness, ranging from an orbital strike for the Techcomm, better armor and a grenade launcher for the marine, to multiple warhead missiles for the SADAR troopers and a damn railgun for the snipers.. Predators can cloak, and have their medical units. Both items drain energy, which recharges at a fixed rate but differs between units. Some units have more energy then others, so can cloak for longer (Notably, the Predator 'Stalker'.. their sniper unit). Their upgrades effect weapon preformance, in some cases doubling or tripling their ability to hunt down the filthy meatbags and bugs. You can also purchase the use of the three vision modes. Infared (humans), electromagnetic (Aliens, mechanical human units), and PredTech (Predators). Aliens are the greatest departure. The Queen has to park her ass and grow an eggsac in order to produce units. She can have up to 4 Facehugger eggs at her ass end at a time.. so either move them, or keep a fresh supply of corpses incoming. The unit you get depends on the corpse you bring. The hippo/cow animals spawn Drones, humans spawn Warriors (a new species in the game world..), goat-like animals and weird-ass crab things spawn Runners (from Alien 3), while Predators give you... Predaliens (Duh!). Eggs can be upgraded, for a cost, to Praetorian Facehuggers. Praetorian Facehuggers give you a Praetorian, regardless of host. Praetorians can evolve into a queen if you lack one, but more notably can, once upgraded, evolve into Carriers or Ravagers. Carriers are nannies for Facehuggers, ferrying them into battle to impregnate in the field. I find them useless, myself. Ravagers are the only Alien unit to cause lethal injury. Decapitation, infact.. They have huge scythe like blades instead of fingers, and evolved to cleave through armor. Their upgrades are the most varied. Drones put 'cystic spores' on killed enemies, making the xenos that spawn from that corpse stronger.. Runners become more flame resistant, Predaliens molt after battle and grow stronger, Carriers can carry twice as many facehuggers.. Queens can gain the ability to instill a battle frenzy in the lesser aliens around her, making her a nasty combat unit. Warriors and Ravagers both gain means of surviving deadly damage. Warriors can survive half torn apart and fight, or restore themselves to normal at a hive node, while Ravagers form a cocoon at death and, if not attacked heavily, regenerate. There is a built-in cheat system for those who just want to screw around. The real problem with the game is that it just isn't versatile. You only have those 3 campaigns of 7 levels. There is no skirmish mode, no multiplayer.. just the campaign. The inclusion of a skirmish mode would of GREATLY improved the game. The other problem is that the AI for your units can be a REAL 'tard about where they go sometimes. If they end up piling through a narrow area, often times you will have several units wander off in search of another way to the place you told them to go rather then just waiting.. which can send them into the middle of an angry group of enemy units that they will completely ignore in search of that magical Other Way To The Destination. It's not a BAD game by any means, but it sure as hell is not the game it should and could of been. EDIT One thing I forgot to note is that there is a lovely beastiary that explains every unit, both in game terms and 'storyline' terms, and is available at the main menu /and/ ingame. -

Because they were being chased by a sub..... Point. When Archangel was on Earth and over water it was either in constant danger of submarine and aquatic MS attack or heavily damaged. Either way, submerging would NOT be a good idea.. -

Q: What do you get when you cross the Zeta Gundam with the Hyaku-Shiki? A: Waldfeld's Murasame! Well, actually, you get the proper Hyaku Shiki. It /was/ supposed to transform, after all, into a mobile armor form presumably similar to the Zeta Gundam's. -

It is likely standard rocket engines for the space-borne craft. The Archangel most likely has a different propulsion system, including something approximating the Minofsky Drive system White Base and its derivitives seem to have. -

The Impulse's color changing is not magical. It's actually listed in the specs as having 'Variable Phase Shift' (VPS) armor. However, it's not known at this time if the 'Variable'' just refers to the color changing ability, or whether it actually offers improved protection over regular Phase Shift armor. Anyway, the Impulse's color changing is certainly a stroke of genius on the part of Bandai's marketing department. Having a different color scheme for the Impulse for each different weapon load, is a great way to force fans to buy multiple recolors of the same figure . Graham Oh, I didn't mean to seriously imply its magical. I just can't see it having any true purpose in the plot. It does, as you pointed out, force people to buy all three Impulse's to have things look right. If it's stronger PS armor, it shouldn't need to change colors to be stronger. -

You could argue that part of the purpose of the Gundams is psychological warfare. They're supposed to scream "LOOK WHAT WE CAN DO!" to the enemy. That actually came up in Gundam Wing, if I remember correctly.. their color schemes were as much a psychological effect as anything else, showing that they would make no attempt to hide, and had no need to hide.. But, anyways. When your main forms of sensory data and communication on the battlefield are visual, you want to be able to see each other. The SEED Gundams were meant to function as a team, so being able to differentiate each other at a glance would of been useful. The Destiny units seem to be tech demonstrators, so they had no need to be painted in subdued colors. I'll admit Impulse's magical color-changing PS armor is nothing more then an advertising gimmick... but damn it, it's a gimmick that gives us the sexah' Sword Impulse colors. But, er, back to the subject at hand.. In the UC timeline, the RX-78-2 was in roll-out/parade colors, and would of been painted in the white/grey of the -03 unit for combat use. That never got to happen, so it went through the war in its parade colors, and became so famous that its successor was painted by the AEUG to match, as a sort of tradition I guess. From there, well.. they just kept the tradition alive. G-Gundam was just screwie, Gundam Wing did it for psychological reasons, Gundam X.. I haven't watched, so who knows.. Turn-A Gundam is just screwie in general, and I already went over SEED's purposes. As for out-of-story reasons.. well.. it's a recognizable color scheme and helps establish the Gundam 'brand'. Colorful heros tend to sell better. -

Anyone else really looking forward to an Assmu MSiA? Hopefully we can see what they can do in a 'fair' fight (fair being tackling something /other/ then Freedom with a SEED'd Kira at the controls...) when the EF forces go after Carpentaria and Gibralter. Mmmmmm. Assmu MSiA... All they'd need for accessories is two crescent-shaped beam blades to fit between the spread claws. -
