Thanks! Holds up pretty well after several coats of dulled Future - but this will probably be one of the last times I transform it. The shoulders were scratched pretty badly for the "first draft", so I had to strip and repaint/re-seal those parts. Time to go collect dust in my display cabinet in fighter (or maybe gerwalk) mode! EDIT: And one of these days add a figure to the back seat...

As much as I love the Mad Max series (not so much Thunderdome, although there's some great lines in that one), I'm not sure we need to see Mel playing Max again. The man is getting pretty old and he's been a bit off his rocker lately. Better they should find some no-name middle-aged Australlian actor to take up the reigns, and spend the money they save on actor payroll on dune buggies covered in cowhides, IMO.

Here's my latest work - a custom paint job and decals based on the VF-0B Space Proving Wing scheme. This 1D is my own "fanfiction" version of the 0B in VF1 form. Custom decals read "Shinnakasu Heavy Industries VFX-1D Transitional Avionics Space Proving Wing". A smaller decal near the nose reads "Stonewell/Bellcom + Centinental Limited Joint Venture". I'll post a better look at the decals later. Getting the paint/masking just right as an airbrush novice was an enormous pain - not sure I will work with pure white in a custom scheme ever again. Thanks to Captain America for the awesome conversion kit, Anasazi for some 1D decals, and Fulcy for the hollow head lasers. All of you and your fine work made this a pleasure to build. I apologize for the poor picture quality. The last picture is the SPW 1D next to my earlier Enigma custom.

The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
Majestic replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Can't wait for this one! So at approximately 3.85 meters tall at 1:1 scale (12.6 feet), I figure standing about 10 inches tall at 1/15 scale. Does this sound about right? Maybe I missed height information already mentioned somewhere...- 1056 replies

Thanks for posting pics. Nice and detailed views! Looks like the airbrake vents are merely indented, but I'm sure they can be drilled out easily enough.

Couple more pics from noda-ya.com. Bot' mode obviously not quite finished. link: http://www.noda-ya.com/html/syohin/figure/02000852.htm I suppose a separate "Yamato Garland" thread should be started in the "Other Anime..." forum.

Yes, Ink Jet, while not the best option, works fairly well if you're careful. I duplicated a few decals just to make sure I got the best print. I use Microset and Microsol, both of which seemed to work as normal for decal application and conforming to the surface, etc. I imagine that once you Krylon them, they'll last fairly well as long as they aren't bent or warped too much.

I've had recent successes with decal paper from these guys: http://www.belldecals.com/model_decals.html My inkjet printer worked great with this. I designed my decals using Photoshop and Pagemaker. Just be careful handling the decal sheets, let them dry for a while, then coat them with Krylon Crystal Clear spray varnish and let that dry in a clean environment. Worked great, and really cheap too. You won't be able to print white, however, unless you've got one of the famous ALPS printers.

Looks good, though I'm surprised they don't have the fully finished version in gerwalk. AND THE GARLAND! Bout' time we saw more on that one. Can anyone translate info on that Garland?

33. Haven't really counted, but I think I've got: 4-6 1/48s 2 1/60s (got rid of a bunch with the advent of the 1/48s) 8 or so 1/55s

Toybox DX's Toy of the Year Contest
Majestic replied to dr_vandermeer's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
SOC Gaiking gets No. 1! Definately deserved IMO. Only my second SOC, Gaiking is awesome in a dozen ways, and looks great on my desk at work! -
Are there any decent profile shots, lineart or custom-built models of the "stealth" blackbird viper around? A web search gives me just blurry screencaps.

Edit: link posted below Looks to be a pretty positive response, with a huge amount of diecast.

The classic I didn't particularly enjoy was "Bullitt" with Steve McQueen. After all the talk, I couldn't wait to see the famous car chase scene - which ended up much less spectacular than I had expected. I suppose at the time it was filmed it was groundbreaking, but I've seen better car chases in "Ronin", for instance. The rest of the movie seemed to be just boring filler.

The 1/48s aren't really meant for play, IMO. More of a hardy display piece. There are minor parts that tend to fall off like jenius says, but other than that, its a positively beautiful figure - you won't be able to buy just one! The figure suffers from almost a complete lack of any die-cast, but the plastic is certainly durable and high quality. Be careful of the backpack hinge though.

Excellent work Kurt, as usual. Can I ask how you do the panel lines? Is that a wash? Your panel lining job appears "just right", not too dark, not too light. I'm having trouble achieving line consistency and that "just right" look. Ispires me to continue working on my own 1D custom - finding the time to work on it during the holidays AND with a 9 month old around is near impossible. I was looking forward to your first 1/48 1D - beautiful work!

Lucas Supports Charity With Lego Spaceship
Majestic replied to Mr March's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Laugh out loud. No seriously. Anywayyyy - that looks damn good and kudos to the Lucas camp for endorsing the sale. LEGO Master Builder! I would kill to have that guy's job! Probably not too impressive when picking up women though. -
It was a sad time. The forum's own "dustbowl era".

X-men 3 Pics: Beast And Angel Revealed
Majestic replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Beast looks pretty good. I imagine it would be incredibly difficult to get the Beast look just right. I really hope the lack of Brian Singer doesn't kill this movie, as the first two films are fantastic (fingers crossed). -
As plainly ridiculous as 24 can get (a cougar chasing Kim? c'mon! - crazy travel-time inconsistencies, etc.), I have to say it's one of my favorite shows of all time. Can't wait for the upcoming season. I can't believe more shows aren't following the real-time format, as it makes for an exciting plot device. Will Jack shotgun a dog or kneecap a terrorist? I'm on the edge of my seat for the Jack Bauer Power Hour. It will be interesting to see what Samwise Goonie and Boxing-Helena-guy bring to the series.

Damn, that just looks so great. Can't wait to see a 1S and 1A clad in that armor, as well as the inevitable custom paint schemes. Thanks for the scans.

New Gundam FIX and ZEONOGRAPHY on the way...
Majestic replied to GRAND CANNON's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Here's a better picture of what the MSM-08 Zogock looks like. This is not the FIX version, but an earlier model release (I think). -
Nice to see the first one done (almost)! Looks great! Reminds me to get back to the grindstone on my own 1D project. Mr. Surfacer, here I come (sigh).

The trailer looks great to me too. The Brando voiceover was AWESOME and set the mood perfectly. I love that shot of supes just floating in space. That said, I agree with Graham, I don't want an exhaustive origin story either. My guess is that it will be a series of hopefully brief flashbacks that will tie in with superman's story in the present.
