    There is no actual official distinction between "remastering" and "restoring."

    Just about everything should be unlocked by the time you finish the red stages (including enemy stages on the blue & red set). I haven't found any unlockables for clearing the ultimate stages (3rd set), but I haven't had time to finish those yet. As of current, I have: VF-1A / VF-1S Hikaru / Hikaru Max / Max Kakizaki / Roy And both the Super & Strike packs unlocked. There's also as mentioned above, regular & command Nos-Ger, Regular/Mlia/Max Qaudran Rau's, and a Regult that switches its type depending on what special weapon you have equipped. So far no VF-4 though.

    Snatcher is one of the best games in the franchise, and also doesn't use the standard MGS formula, something to think about.

    You could always just pick up a Japanese PSN card and download the game directly from the PSN...

    The problem with ignoring Yamato III is that it completely establishes the existence of the Gamilus offshoot race....that is promptly oblitered by Aquarious in Final. If you take it out, then far more than dates don't make sense in Final. I'd ignore anything animerica says in general.

    Nope, and I'm pretty curious about it even though I hear it's just a clipped together thing.

    Aside from the movie being a POS, it's the first non-Voyager Ent. licensed Yamato....well ever, so it's a great sign of potential things to come.

    I'd ask Tochiro for more specifics, but as I understand it though Nishizai came up with the bas concepts for Yamato, Matsumoto designed the actual meat of fhe story and universe. As such, he did originally intend to include Harlock in the story, but held his non-Yamato concepts back as Nishizaki became progressively more unstable & dictatory over Yamato. Plus he really didn't like Nishizaki constantly trying to murder off the characters for no reason. And It'sthanks to all this that Leiji Matsumoto went off on his own to develope 999 and Harlock.

    I only have the first DVD release of FB 2012, never picked up the 25th anniv disc, but the bluray definately has better color and detail.

    I just started playing, and have only done the first 5 stages. So far I'd say it's less polished than Last Frontier, but more polished than Trial Frontier.

    Pretty sure that was an error since the movie starts out with the fall of the newly established Gamilus.

    So anyway, the remaster is...BEAUTIFUL!!! I've only had time to skip through some select scenes, but what I've seen has some mind blowing detail. Yeah there are some soft scenes (The VT-1 parked in the water outside of the PC city comes to mind), but those appear to be caused by the source material which makes them unavoidable. The level of perspective and layering is phenominal though. If anyone has one of those setups that turn 2-D into suedo 3-D I'd be curious to know what this master looms like there.

    Arrividerci was made before Yamato 2, and without spoiling too much, was Nishizaki's first attempt at completely ruining the franchise. Leiji Matsumoto fixed up and expanded the story into a (IMHO) vastly superior version. The New Voyager & Be Forever Yamato take place inbetween Yamato 2 & Yamato 3, and should be watched in that order. After Yamato 3 is obviously Final Yamato.

    Sounds like what I was expecting (fb2012), so I'm cool there. As for the rest, maybe I'm just getting old, but there's nothing I've read that makes me want to pass on this release.

    To be honest, Bane's voice reminded me of Unicron from TFtM, almost comedically so. Once I got over that I was cool. Also not sure -how the topic of Nemesis came up, but my biggest problem with that was the blatant Wrath of Khan rehash mixed in with Data being uber suicidal for the whole film, talk about a telegraphed death.
