  1. Finally, Bandai has realised just how much freakin' room Gundam is taking on my shelf. Hopefully it'll be in something nice like the Futurama season 1-3 sets with the slipcover box (season 4 has a chaper plastic slipcover). I can't wait! And while the box is limited edition, there will be an individual disc release next year (you just don't get the compact size box set & pencil sharperners). Although I'd have preferred a soundtrack disc to pencil sharpeners, they are cool. And seriously, if anyone passes this up in favor of the batman set, you don't deserve to see Zeta.
  2. Bah, I've been saying that about Blade Runner for years! It's got story, action, and T&A, a finer balance in live action sci-fi has yet to be reached.
  3. The only major difference was that in the TV series, they were using 2009 era VF-1's, and in DYRL, they were using 2031 era VF-1's (a more advanced model of the same plane). I'm pretty sure that in both cases though, there was some sort of switch used for transformation, fancy stick manuevers would still be used for piloting, not transforming. And the robotech book garbage is just that, garbage. It has no bearing on anything whatsoever.
  4. While its not necessary to see Zeta to enjoy CCA, it add's a major extra level too it. If you don't watch Zeta first, at least watch CCA again after seeing Zeta. As for F-91, was the bootleg anamorphic widescreen? And did it have both versions of the film?
  5. Hmm, where are the "inner" suit figures
  6. Wait a minute now, Macross without Kawamori? Bold new directions? It sounds more like you want a different series than a different "Macross." At which point I say, "go watch something else." Franchises always loose their special "quality" when they're handed off to someone else. Bottom line is, it wouldn't be "Macross" if Kawamori & Studio Nue weren't involved. Worse yet, do you even remember Macross II? I personally think it would become a hollow shell of itself if something so dramatically different were to be done. If Macross were just a series about trasnforming airplanes, that'd be one thing. But Macross itself is specifically about the power of people to overcome war by communicating their emotions through music. What you guys are saying is akin to a Harlock series without Matsumoto, why freakin' bother! (Matsumoto being a great example just for the reason that he's been going for so many years). Take a look at the Gundam franchise for instance. True it is still going, but it no longer reflects what it once was. It used to be about humans coping with the onset of evolution, not just giant samurai robots fighting in space. I guess it really comes down to what you're more interested in. Quality or quantity. I'd personaslly rather have a few Macross series at the quality of what's been released, as opposed to a deluge of Macross series at the quality of pokemon.
  7. The movie box sounds interesting, but I already own them all, plus the original packaging on CCA & 0079 wouldn't be done justice in this combination set. Nice price for those who don't own them yet though.
  8. It's about damn time. But seriously, where is the Zeta box release date? Late november? I don't want to have to fight with christmas shipping delays to get my Zeta damnit!
  9. Yes, they should have her singing "Sunday Girl" on mtv instead!
  10. Is it just me, or does the close-up shot look a lot like Deb Harry?
  11. Considering that Macross has been popular enough to still spawn sequels & merchandise through out 3 decades in Japan, I think you guys are over analyzing this a bit. It's not like it's Mospeada or Orguss (two great shows too by the way) which are literally dead franchises now. Macross has successfully popped up every 5-10 years with something new, and none of it (except for II) has been considered commercial flops.
  12. Multiple character lines are a common practice, as well as multiple lines at once. The typo's are few & very far between, and I don't recall any instances of "engrish," in fact, I believe they used the same subtitle script manga did when they released it.
  13. It would have made a lot more sense to have these events take place right after Part 2 & to use Shogo as the lead again.
  14. You're assuming the level of advancement for the Pheyos wasn't directly relative to the level of advancement in U.N. technolgoy (i.e. they were continuing to steal design secrets). Considering the Pheyos didn't appear until nearly 20 years later shows either how slow Rogue backwards engineering is, or that they were continually revising it to match newer prototypes.
  15. Ghost in the Shell is a TV series. Macross Zero is an OVA. OVA's don't have "seasons"
  16. Don't ditch it quite yet. Media Blasters has had a regular trend of faulty DVD releases lately (most common problem being mono audio instead of stereo). Besides, the subtitles on the R3 set are quite good, far from bad.
  17. The EVE in Bahamut was an A.I. copy of the original EVE (scientist invovled wwith the Megazone project). The EVE in Eden was the original Eve. Yup, that was the general implication, as well as the biggest plot failure. Eve never told Shogo he had to go to wake her up, there was no sign of any "Eden" at the end of part II, and the very fact that they would do something like that to that type of character is just "wrong." What was the point in bringing back Yui if she would just lose Shogo hours later? The whole point of getting past A.D.A.M. was that humanity "did" pass the test (thanks to Shogo), and would be allowed to spread across Earth. To put anohter system in place defeats the end of part II. Hell, why would there even be just "1" Eden since there were many Megazones (though 23 was the only to return safely thus far). Having to face his energy catridge thing, and his comments of nostalgia were the clues that Won Dai was Shogo). it's supposed to be a thousand years or so. "The System" kept Shogo/Won Dai alive through a similar system used to keep the original Eve alive. That was to imply the dissatisfaction of the people living a contained controlled existence. No, not a relation, he just as the same Sector 7G Operator special life force. In order for the plot to even remotely work, unless Shogo knocked Yui up in their last encounter, they'd be no way for them to be together since Shogo would have been taken in by the system. The funniest part about part 3 is how much of it was used for the Matrix over the other 2 parts.
  18. Since when if the Pheyos called EVA (which sounds a lot more like the mecha in evangelion). And I highly doubt you'll find anything 20 years more advanced in Zentradi hands, Rogue or otherwise.
  19. I bought it after having the HK disc & knowing how bad it was, why would a little thing like pay per view stop me?
  20. Wait a minute. Where in VFX-2 did a VF-19 fight an Eva?
  21. Only downside to that kit is the loss of features with the bright white paint.
  22. I doubt they've been that bad. It's clearly the superior OVA to its competitor Yukikaze.
  23. Queen millenium in spanish? Not freakin'' fair!
  24. You wanna ruin the ending any more for those who having seen it? Although you're wrong, she didn't die due to being fused with anything, and what did happen was an awesome plot twist.
  25. They have the technology with SAP & captions to offer both. Cheap bastards!
