That artist should be shot in the head by Harlock for doing that to Matsumoto's designs! As for the story, again we've been shown why no one but Matsumoto should touch one of his own projects. Sure Nishizaki will claim he created Yamato (and no doubt this is based on his own "Rebirth" project), he's also a gun toting lunatic that tried to kill off the characters & story 30 years ago, and who's own projects have been nothing but massive failures when attempting to do Yamato without Matsumoto (2520, Odin, etc). Where's my Dai Ginga damnit!

I've never ordered during one of the sales, just heard complaints from the AOD forums, but if you can imagine someone taking a box cutter to a DVD case to slash the barcode, that'd be about the degree of damage.
-
Yes, it was one of the omake shorts "Spiritia Dreaming." Which is another high mark for 7, it has the best extra's out of the whole franchise.
-
And don't forget, for those who enjoy their covers, ADV usually just slashes their cases to "mark" the covers as sale items.
-
Beware, ADV actually slashes both the case & the cover to "mark" the UPC.
-
For those who haven't picked them up yet, both Mospeada & Southern Cross are on sale over at rightstuf for 24.99 each. You'd be crazy "not' to get them for that price.

Hmm: Story: Does exactly what a sequel should, mind what happened before, whle expanding upon it, all the while not re-hashing. Macross 7 stays true to everything which came before it. Characters: All deep & well thought out, all have their place in the story, and none (except for the last 2 protodevelin) are filler (even then, one of the last 2 protodevelin was voiced by Hikaru's Seiyuu, so remember that everytime you hear that annoying ass laugh). I especially enjoyed Basara, one of the few main protagonists in any story who isn't screwed up in some way or another. He's already got his sh!t together before the story starts, and everyone else has to catch up to him. Pacing: Despite what some thing, the story flows exactly as it should. Some seem to have a problem with the first 10 episode story arc, not understanding that it's all setup for the bigger plot that takes over directly after. A good story needs setup to have effective impact, and everything there serves that purpose. It wouldn't have made sense to have an effect on people from the get go, nor would it have been as interesting to stumble upon the Protoculture ruins too early, or learn just who the Protodevelin were. Mecha: I love the VF-19 Kai as well, and there's nothing in the mecha hand book that says mecha can't have faces. While it's not my absolute favorite, it is definately up there. Though I can't say I like what was done with the wings on the VF-19S & F varients, the stubbyness doesn't suit the design well at all. Music: While Planet Dance is played a good number of times, anyone would be hard pressed to find a show of equal or lessor length that has anywhere near as many original tracks. Bebop would be about the only series that compares. And while style is subjective, I highly enjoy it. ETC.

Out of all the things I may have expected to see, Golgo 13 with Sid Vicious wasn't even remotely on my radar

Singing skill had nothing to do with generating Anima Spiritia, nor did singing in general. It was purely passion based. If one person put enough genuine passion into something, then they too would be able to generate it. That was the whole point of Minmay's singing being innefectual against Kamujin & Laplamiz, because she wasn't putting any feeling into it. That's what it too k for her to wake up & realize what she'd been doing, leave Kaifun, etc. She went to Hikaru because she thought she could find herself with him. And in the end, leaves telling Hikaru & Misa that she is going to leave & find that very emotion to put into her song. The reborn Minmay is who we have during the concert & leaving on the Megaroad in Flashback 2012. She's finally found her passion, and is ready to leave her youngerself behind. As for Basara, he wasn't supposed to have developement, or huge life changing revelations. He had his sh!t together from the very beginning. Knew what he wanted to do, know what he needed to do, and knew he was right in doing so. 7 is about watching everyone else catch up to him. It's a refreshing change to have a fully "with it" protagonist.

No one forced Nue to make 7, in fact, Kawamori & Nue were forced to make Plus as a Macross Property. Kawamori wanted to make it something independent. By all indications, 7 was 100% a focused effort.

For those who had trouble with the control, don't forget before starting the game to go into settings, and change the scheme to "forward." Makes a world of difference.

For some reason I read "Scooby Doo" custom, half expecting to see a mystery machine colored Valkyrie....

Robotech honored by Science Fiction Museum
Keith replied to Roy's Blues's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Robotech is neither even remotely original, nor is it close enough to the originals to be considered a dub. It's a sad bastardization of 2 good, and one "ok" show. Think of a really good beer that you enjoy (if you drink), and then imagine that beer left out for a couple hours, and watered down. While it could still be considered beer, it's nothing you'd want to drink. -
Hmm, have you seen a therapist about that?
-
The answer is simple, people have no imagination..
-
Or....perhaps your cat is Protodevelin...
-
Now I'm curious, how did they change the U.S. opening?
-
And don't forget those of us who think the show is awsome straight from beginning to end! BTW, if you're cell hunting, don't forget there was also Milia's red VF-11 in the Plus short "Top Gamlin."

Don't get me wrong, the video & audio quality are vastly superior on the R1's (HK's are waaay too dark), and the lack of the vocal tracks does hurt (it wouldn't have even been so bad if they'd just used orchestrated versions of the songs that should have been there), but the R1 is worth picking up.
-
Actually, in a lot of area's, the HK sub is closer. The only downside to the HK set is there are about 6-9 episodes which have garbage translations. The rest are very well done.
-
The show is awesome, but the subtitle translation is based off of a dub script. Once you get past that, and the fact that the both intro's (and ending) songs are gone due to licensing issue, the show is still awesome.
-
You know, I actually haven't gotten around to seeing that yet, but Galaxy Express is awesome none the less

Finally watched the second movie trailer, and it definately continues to look cool. While I still don't see why these weren't just fully animated from scratch, I can live with that. I also don't mind Four's new Seiyuu.
