Bottom line, had the U.N. gone in guns blazing against the Protodevelin, they would have been swatted away like fly's. The Protodevelin's technology was better, and they weren't even at full capacity. Hell, it took the full force of the Protoculture to subdue them (and even then, they still weren't able to defeat them. The theme of Macross 7 is that there's eventually going to be someone with a bigger gun than you. And when that happens, you can either die, or seek alternative means.

The science in 7 is sound. Sound never travels through space, the "monsters" are explained as a biological evolution of Protoculture technology, and since when didn't Macross need a huge transforming robot? That's what the freakin' Macross was!

I can't wait to see how closely they match it up with the R2 box. This should also been a future announcement of Top 2 once that's finally finished it's R2 release!

Fast Pack's aren't really for atmospheric use, so I doubt that'll be happening in any game anytime soon.

What are you talking about, the R2 looks significantly better than the R1, the comparison isn't even funny. As for the UK, it's just a PAL conversion of the shitty NTSC VHS dump manga did, I don't care what price you got it for, it's still the same crap, and the early batches had the disc silkscreens all mixed up.

Legit Korean DVD's exist, and it's very easy to tell the difference. Basically, if it's too good to be true, it is Disc count, audio options, releasing studio, region coding (if present at all) are also good key indicaters.

There's recently been an R3 release of the OVA, and usually those use the R2 masters, but aren't nearly as expensive.

Don't have a progressive player. Ask over at the R2 forums on AOD though, I'm sure they'd know.

The R2 is infinately better than the R1, also has a nice shiny reflective cover. Only real downside to it is that there are no chapter stops, but that's far preferable to a half assed VHS rip.

Wait, I thought Carl Macek created Robotech. Drew all the key animation himself, and hired a couple orphanages to do the inbetween animation, while on his summer vacation from colorizing movies at Turner. Unfortunately, he ran low on cash, so he had to sell the rights to some of his animation to a couple of Japanese companies who completely mucked him his story, broke it up into 3 different pieces, and re-dubbed them into Japanese. Upon learning that, he cried a river of tears which became the grand missisipi, and along with Babe his blue ox, rode a Tornado to carve out his new territory which he would dub, Amaceka!

I don't doubt he'll interview the original creaters. Then of course he'll overdub them with his own voice, and have them say how much they love robotech & Tony Oliver as Lic Unter

Without re-animating it, the only way to make it widescreen would be to crop it, & screw that.

You're just slow, The AnimEigo subs aren't at any kind of accelerated speed.

What's the gist of it?

I wasn't too happy about only white being available at launch either, then it hit me. I have a 1/48 VF-1A & fast pack. Both have extra stickers... After I'm 100% positive that there are no problems, I'm going to sticker this thing up like a VF-1A. As for the screen, it's infinately better than the original DS. It still fits fine if you have large hands, etc.

They could easily bump 7 into December, it's not unheard of to get a final volume less than 2 months apart...
