Guld was another highly-skilled pilot, probably considered of similar skill to Isamu. And he had a neural interface elevating him to superhuman levels of perception and response time. That wouldn't stop Max! Nope, but it does mean you'll win a fight if you hit. If you don't... I believe Isamu was the pioneer that first adapted the pinpoint barrier punch to single-pilot mecha, so he's still well-armed once his ammo runs dry. And Basara has proved on many occasions that he can handle himself in a flood of live ammo. Hell, the only thing that was able to bring him down was Gepelnitch when he was damn near the size of a planet. And while Isamu did pioneer the pinpoint barrier punch, he still fell to Guld on 2 occasions (though admittedly the first time was a cheap shot when he was trying to save Guld). Sometimes being too similar causes more annoyance than being total opposites. Besides, VS matchups aren't concerned with the why and how. 420655 Basara & Isamu are the same type of guy. Isamu puts all his feeling into flying, Basara puts his into singing. The two would have far more than a mutual respect for each other.

First major mis-conception: Isamu was hardly a better pilot than Basara, hell, Isamu couldn't even take out Guld! Using live ammo doesn't make you a better pilot. And even Max admitted that Basara was at his level of skill. Second major mis-conception: Isamu wouldn't fight Basara in the first place, as the too are far too similar not to get along. And yes, it was Kamujin who killed Roy in DYRL, he used a complete battyass sneak attack, and as such, died equally like a batty.

The Official Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread

Hey, I fell in love with Gunbuster through that bootleg, had it not been for that, I wouldn't have imported the R2 special editon! Of course at that point in time, I was already quite used to deciphering HK subtitle gibberish, but that's besides the point At least it's un-edited, which is more than can be said for the Kiseki disc, plus it has the science lessons in-tact. -
Nope, Max was already being hounded by Milia when Roy was hit. It was another Q-Rau that got him.

Was it Mayan? Who know's. General theory had been that Basara not taking formal musical instruction came up with his own method for writing it down. But we still have Mao un-accounted for in the post SW-I era, and anything is possible. In order for her to be Basara's mother, she would have had to have had him in her late 20's, early 30's, which is entirely possible. But considering the only real history we have on Basara is that he was found singing to mountains on a frontier colony, there's no true evidence for or against any origin theory. And Kawamori loving his mysteries, it's doubtful he'd give any firm evidence anytime soon (if ever). Guess we'll just have to wait & see what happens in the next project. Will Gamlin & Mylene finally hook up? Will Sivil come back for Basara? Will Shin & Sara with AFOS in tow turn back up as some kind of super powered avatar's to smach humans back down to Earth??? Is it coincidence that the Ginga Kujira organs were compatible with Overtech engine technology, or were they yet another Protoculture leftover piece of the puzzle? Will the U.N. Spacy clear Guld's remains out of orbit, or just wait for him to burn up in the atmosphere? These are all things we may never get to know.

Max got a hot alien chick to marry him, Roy did not. Max definately wins!

Max did make an awesome captain, of course having a Macross Cannon trigger that was very simliar to the WMG trigger in Yamato didn't hurt either.

New Robotech Shadow Chronicles Vid
Keith replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Nah, pointy headed alien of the week would be too cliche. I think Shadow Chronicles will actually be about a green Irish rabbit that sounds like he's fully baked flying through space with a 4 armed duck, and a super genius kid. That would be pure genius! Then I'm also guessing you forgot about the love triangle between Nara Burns, Marsala, & Takagi (or was it J.T., damnit, now I can't remember). Now there was some wackiness, especially when Marsala wasn't even "equipped." All this reminicing has reminded me of a funny story. Way back in the day, when I had first read descriptions of Gundam Wing, all I could picture were the "Exo-Scouts." heh. -

Maybe we've all got it wrong. Perhaps Shadow Chronicles is about 1980's late night DJ "Shadow Stevens" & his exploits in life. -

Take into account that summary is pretty abridged. There were some pretty good episodes around the mid-end of the first season, when Earth went almost entirely under Neosapian rule, and internal strife within the Exofleet, when a G.W-esque military commander winds up getting their flagship destroyed....Why doesn't CN do something useful by re-airing shows like this that will never see the light of DVD? -

While Exosquad was an ok show, it did heavily borrow from Macross/Robotech, as its creaters even admitted. The basic premise was that in the future, humans genetically engineered an offshoot labor species to take care of their dirty work (Neosapians). The Neosapians eventually rebelled against humans, initiating the need for combat mecha, be it more of an "aliens" inspired brand called "exo-frames" that looked a lot like the "aliens" loaders, but with actual weapons, and a nuero-link-up system (something akin to the robotech novels explanation for mecha pilotting). As the series went on, the Neosapians took it upon themselves to "upgrade" their ranks with new breeds of combat neosapians (much like the various different evolutions that hte Inbit took in Mospeada), though they couldn't overcome a genetic breakdown disease that caused some of them (including their leader) to melt away. They were also engineered so that they couldn't procreate naturally, and their only means of perpetuation was through testube style birth. Aside from the Neosapians, the Exosquad fleet also had rumbles with pirates, who possessed cloaking technology brought about through a substance called "dark matter," and out of necesssity/survival, the two sides joined together against the Neosapians , sharing their technology. Things got pretty whacky towards the end of the series, with things like bringing a dead character back to life through Neosapian styled clone birthing (only with the same body), and a re-imprinting of the characters memory through the black box in his E-frame. There was also a group of humans who developed paranormal powers through inter-DNA mixing with plants (again, similar to the robotech novels depiction of Protoculture), etc. At the very end of the series, the conflict between humans & Neosapians was resolved, but then a new alien threat popped up, seemingly caused by heavy use of the dark matter, which apparently belonged to the aliens. Now you'll also recall the preliminary materials released for robotech 3000, which in themselves looked a lot like certain aspects of Exo-Squad (specifically the hero mecha for RT3000 looked a lot like the hero mecha from Exo-Squad). And now here we have the Shadow Chronicles with a mysterious "shadow/dark" substance (tied in with the developement of the dark Legioss/alpha's), which looks to be panning out to be similar to the dark matter from Exo-Squad, completely with the summoning of a "new" threat. Sorry, I figured you guys had kept up on all this stuff -
They do definately let in natural air when on a planet, which is what leads me to believe their some kind of energy barrier that can be shut off, as opposed to retracted, but here's something we can all agree on. PIN-POINT BARRIER PUNCH!!!

And who could forget Topless Misa popping up ona screen in Orguss. As well as Minmay & some of the bridge bunnies being listed as some of Kei's exploits There was also a crate marked VF-1 somewhere.

i.e. they've gone back to copying Exo-squad (which copied robotech which plagurized Macross) with the whole dark matter/alien invasion dealy. Should we also expect to see a Zentradi disease which causes them to melt? -
Gall Force is pretty much takes a run with the whole gender war conflict. And Megazone 23's EVE is a not to subtle nod. Though it'd be pretty tough to nail down too many shows with specific inspirations, especially when Macross itself ha a lot of concepts from Yamato & Gundam in it.

When the time is right, we'll get a sup'd big bang sequel, probalby taking place in the 2050 era, and hopefully tying in with the end of Zero. As for Kawamori's spiritiualism, the only people who seem to have a problem with it are a handful of U.S. fans, so I wouldn't expect it to change any time soon. It's a common theme through out most anime, and shouldn't be much of a surprise to anyone. -Keith

Good to hear. I just hope the R1 does the release like other six episodes series', like Gundam 0080, or FLCL, with three episodes a DVD. 418493 Actually, if it's like the R2 release, it'll be a 2 double disc box set (OVA spread accross the first 3 disc's, while the 4th has the bulk of the extra features). And I'm pretty sure FLCL was a 2 episode per disc release. -

Funimation has actuallly shaped up quite a bit in recent years. I'd definately put them up far above Manga or Viz for instance. Hell, just for the fact that they include the original Japanese credits when you select the Japanese language track, that puts them up above Bandai & ADV. Galaxy Railways was an awesome release, and if it's at all indicative of their current practices, I'm all for Funi doing new licenses. With that said, it doesn't really make much of a difference where Shadow Chronicles is concerned, but I do find it funny that HG fell out of bed with ADV. -

Don't worry, Gunbuster is one of those shows you literally won't mind buying again & again. So far I've got the HK, the R2 special edition, and now I can't wait for the R1 reproduction of the R2 special edition -
Yep....and now that I've gotten nearly zero closure at all with that story, I want some more Eureka Seven damnit!

If I'm not mistaken(and I can't imagine there's very many pink firetrucks in all of anime), you're describing AnRyu and KouRyu. Those 2 are HyoRyu and EnRyu's "sisters" from Gaogaigar Final. http://www.goshouworld.com/GaoGaiGar/mecha_attack.htm Is that them? 417373 Yep, that's them, and now I want to see GaoGaiGar even more. Not so much a soap bubble, as an omni-directional barrier toned down a bit to let slow moving solid objects through. Things only get more awesome as the Planet Lux events play out, the mid-section of the series has great of revelations about the Protoculture & general Macross series mysteries. As for the music, once your hatred for Planet Dance for it being played so many times turns to love for it no matter how many times it's played, you'll know you're a fan.

That was also my concern, and the major reason I waited so long to buy it. But I figured since I was already picking up Guilty Gear XX Slash, I might as well toss something else in the order. Then I saw the discount priced version & that Macross 7 & Mazinger Z were both included, and couldn't resist. Flash forward a few days later, and I was going to just test out SRWA3 for a few minutes before jumping into Guilty Gear....and unfortunately, I still haven't gotten around to playing GG There's a pretty good FAQ over at Gamefaqs.com that gives detailed synposis of what's going on in the story for each stage, and that in and of itself is a great help. Though even without that, if you're at all familar with the anime covered in the game (so far, the main story parts seem to cover elements from Gundam SEED & Macross 7), then you won't have too hard of a time figuring out what's going on. General rudimentary knowledge of Japanese from watching anime (and or enough kana to recognize words like "Macross"), doesn't hurt. After a couple stages of playing around with the various options, I figured out the bulk of the controls & the what to & what not to do's of the game with no problem. Though there's a lot of detail involved in the options, none of them are difficult to remember or figure out. Hell, It's been almost 2 weeks, and I still haven't looked at a "what do the controls do" faq proper, and seem to be doing pretty well with the game. JBO is right though, the big danger in playing this game is an almost instantanious interest in various mecha & super robots from shows you may not be familiar with. Already I found myself picking up the Shin Getter Robo box set, and am also anticipating the GaoGaiGar relelase next month....damn game! BTW, does anyone know what show/game that pink robot that turns into a pink firetruck and joins with that darkblue robot that launches missiles is from?

Hell, maybe the shrapnel was so hot it cotterized on its way in, and re-opened the wounds as he was walking around. But let's take this into account. Regardless of the nature of the wound, if any major organs were punctured, it wouldn't haave been too likely in a crew of only 50,000 that he would have been able to get a doner. 10 or so extra minutes at the hopsital wouldn't have gotten him any less dead than he was.
