Macross: Do You Remember Love? Blu-Ray v2 now open for preorder!&#
Keith replied to treatment's topic in Movies and TV Series
It's a developement from recent years, so wouldm't be an issue on ancient recording. -
I have so many reservations about this. First & foremost, look at Bluth, do you really think he's got another movie left in him? Let alone a 10 minute pitch reel. I'n not being mean here, he just doesn't physically look up to a stressful movie schedule. Especially since he'd have ti train a new team of animators (seriously, look what's produced here now). That'd leave him on key-frame duty, and I just dkn't see him coping well with a Miyazaki level of Workload. Also: - There is a full few minutes that they're calling this "Dragon Layers." Although, the idea of Bluth making his own parody porn version could be a selling point... - Nowhere on the Kickstarter page do they spell out that they'd be doing a prequel, unless the article you linked is wrong. If it is a prequel though, that may disappoint a ton of people expecting a straight full length version of the game. - Kickatarter bonuses are "way" out of wack. All tiers $50 and above should at least have a digital copy of the pitch reel attached. - Trigger was able to do so much more with $625,000 on Little Witch Academia 2 (and admittedly, they have an infinitely easier time getting investors). But from a backer perspective, putting in for a completely finished 40 minute project that you get a copy of at reasonable backer levels (and LWA has animation that blows anything Bluth did out of the water, check it out), it just makes it harder to justify donating to a pitch reel, not guarunteed to go anywhere. - $125 blu-ray backer tier is insanely misleeding. What you actually get is a copy of the OOP existing DL game blu-ray. Currently it's sitting at 109 open slots, and again, that disc is OOP. Is Bluth sitting on boxes of Dragon's Lair & Space Ace BD's, jacking up the seller price on Amazon? If so, dick move! Oh also, backers still aren't getting a physical copy of the pitch still just a digital copy at that level. - Last, and most importantly, why isn't that POS Tim Burton helping to fund this? You'd think out of some form of respect, he of all people would give Bluth a hand in not fading off into community theatre obscurity. Maybe I'm being harsh here, but animation is something I get serious about. I'd love to see Bluth out out something like this, but I'm not optimistic a kickstarter backed demo reel would come of anything. If John Lasseter or Tim Burton stepped up with some major support now, that'd be another story. But especially unemployed, I can't bet on this production in its current shape.

If that'a the case, then the only reason left would be lowering the theatrevscreening age, as home releases still don't seem to have an issue showing head gore. Broadcast anime has taken to shadow blurring it in recent seasons though, Jojo stands out (pun) as having done this. -

Actually, the edits are exactly because of the included game. Current CERO ratings prohibit the presence of "any" exploding head gore, which was precicely what was edited. The release was considered a game, which is why Amazon.jp wouldn't export it. Bandai Visual has not before (or after) edited any anime releases that did not carry a game combo. This was 100% a case of altering the movie due to the Japanese game rating board requiring it as part of the release. -
That sounds even messier if they don't work together then. Currrnt interest in maintaining a new market is due to the movies, and falling back in the old timelime would bring in major multiverse cunundrums that passive fans wouldn't want to even bother with.

Most of it should have been 35mm, some may likely be 16mm for various reasons. It's already established that an intact audio mix is included. And while conjecture at this point, this version should be unedited due to lack of game, and fan backlash. -
They may also be planning to amp the T&A factor up past broadcast standards. Remembering how far they pushed Enterprise, I wouldn't doubt they've decided to go full on HBO/Showime with dem titties based ratings.

Going by what was shown, seems to ignore Army Of Darkness altogether, and picks up after Evil Dead 2. Probably because of a licensing issue, the Evil Dead Regeneration game did the same thing.

I don't have a PC BD drive, or capture card. But compare any given blurry scene with it's older DVD release counterpart. Heavy DNR also causes more in the way of flat looking loss of detail than a blur effect. -

The blurry scenes aren't due to DNR, it's to do with varying degree's of quality in the sourced filmstock. -

Early predictions: - Protoculture born virus could be the aftermath of Sara & Shin leaving with the AFOS (no, really this time! - I don't see Kawamori havint dueling idol groups for no reason, likely may be something to do with a colonial disputr on how to handpe whatever Protoculture legacy threat is in play. - Regults & Glaugs may mean more rogue Zentradi, or perhaps a fleet that autonomously developed their own culture away from human influence. Also not willing to rule out lomg lost Stellar Republic citizens packing Zentradi arms (kinda like the Marduke). The SV-262 is dead sexy, and the VF-31 is perfrctly fine. This however is Macross, do you honestly think Kawamori doesn't have something shinnier & prettier to reveal later? Still no U.N. Spacy insignia's in sight, looks like Big West took HG & Tatsunoko's B.S. to heart. Hoping they swing a streaming deal with Crunchyroll or Funi, leading to a final break in HG's stonewall. Can we hopd back on the "I hate idol groups" & "This sell out Macross" 'til the preview airs? While obviously some of are cooler with 7 & Frontier than others, I fully expect a plot twist that may re-unify the fanbase. Kawamori has already made AKB0048 & Aquarion (which were both awesome). I don't expect a retread here.- 2715 replies
