Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
Keith replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
If their response was "oh sh!t, what the hell is that" I'd agree with you. But their reponse was "oh sh!t, they're doing some oldschool protoculture sh!t right there" which signifies a recognition of what was seen. -
Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
Keith replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I still say the episode where the Zentradi watch "Shao Pai Loon," & recognize Kaifun's "powers" as something familiar establishes ESP/etc. And never is a buster cannon blast blocked by a song. -
IA shows stuff subtitled in general, so anime shouldn't be a problem for them. As for the DVD's, they are going to include the U.S. Renditions dub for the 18 or so episodes that were dubbed (for people who care about such things), but the rest of the set will be subtitled only. Aside from the DVD-R thing, I'm quite excited about this release too.

macross subtitles for "Robotech - Macross Saga Complete Series Bo
Keith replied to luckyluca's topic in Movies and TV Series
The Animeigo & RT.com disc's are the exact same disc's. When the license expired, AnimEigo shipped all remaining inventory to HG. As for disc cracking, examples were found in the original presale disc's, individual release disc's, and 3 disc box sets. There was no specific good/bad batch idenified, and once the license expired, AnimEigo didn't even bother to look into it. -
macross subtitles for "Robotech - Macross Saga Complete Series Bo

Another thing to take into account is that the set on robotech.com is prone to disc cracking, the madman set is not. The price may be a bit more, but you'll have the disc's for a lot longer. -
macross subtitles for "Robotech - Macross Saga Complete Series Bo
Keith replied to luckyluca's topic in Movies and TV Series
The solution is actually much simpler than you think. There is a perfectly legit, easily available PAL release of Macross that should suit your needs. I'm assuming that you'll be able to play R4 disc's, as it's my understanding that region free DVD players are quite common in the UK. If so, head on over to: http://www.madman.com.au/actions/series.do...amp;method=home That's the Australian release of Macross using the AnimEigo DVD masters & subtitles. As a bonus, they also ship internationally. -

As someone who's seen both Macross 7 & Sailor Moon, I can honestly say the two shows are entirely dissimilar. Get over it! -
The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
Keith replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Looks like BBTS finally has Noriko in stock, so they should hopefully start popping up elsewhere too. -
Whatever you do, don't accidentally buy this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMc9os_XUNI

The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
Keith replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
$26 presale, $39.99 MSRP. A bit more than your average disc, but worth it if you're up for it. -
That's brilliant, they should have included that as a DVD extra.

The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0

Unfortunately, that's a carry over from their Gunbuster release, as they seemed to have had some fear of using the "Aim for the Top!" title. -
The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
Keith replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Just got Diebuster Vol 1. I haven't watched the whole disc yet, but all intro's, endings, songs, etc, seem to be ok. It's actually a great looking disc to boot. Also note, just like with Gunbuster, there are two subtitle tracks, one for just dialogue, and one for dialogue & signs. -
In retrospect, I think I'd rather see a redone streamlined Nadia, but I don't see anything wrong with redoing Eva.

Sci-Fi Channel to air Macross Plus in June.
Keith replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
I haven't found a reason to watch sci-fi in many years.. -
After reading some production staff interviews, I'm very excited about the new movies. Considering this is going to be an all new take, there's nothing to step on the original version should certain fans choose to stick strictly with that. I like Gainax, I tend to enjoy even their average works (melody of oblivion, this ugly yet beautiful world), and see no reason not to look forward to this.

Gundam was hurt by both Bandai & CN. Bandai for choosing to go with 0079 for a TV broadcast, & dub only DVD release (alienating it from the one market of anime fans who actually would shell out for it), and CN for choosing to place it in the afternoon Toonami slot by itself. Had they run it along with re-runs of wing, or if AS existed back then (for a decent evening run) it may have faired a bit better. As much as I didn't like X, it undoubtably should have been the next show broadcast, followed by V & or Turn-A. releasing 0079 at the time dub only was the most boneheaded thing Bandai could have done for the franchise. All things considered, they made it up (to me at least) with the 0079 movies release, but the fact that we still haven't gotten the new remaster of the series over here, hakens back to that mistake earlier this decade. Worse yet, instead of showing SEED in a weekday afternoon slot, which in the heavily edited form it hit tv, it would have been suited for, they stuck it in a weekly late saturday night slot, where no one in their right mind would watch it. Thus boning any attempt at reviving the franchise on TV.

Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
Keith replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Plus they could always save a Zero movie edition as a tie in release blitz bonanza. I can't believe I'm actually considering picking up the 7 remasters for $600....if only they'd throw subtitles in. -
Considering that the SA were still around to fight with the Zentradi long after the Protoculture & Protodevelin were gone, it's doubtful that the Protoculture's Anima Spiritia attempted to recoup citizens lost to the Protodevelin, and instead went on a direct assault of the Protodevelin themselves. The Zentradi would take care of cutting a line through the Supervision Army for them.

Keith replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hmm, considering Plus & 7 are getting a remaster, it may be time to pester Bandai Visual about potential releases... -
There's actually no indication to say there were "hundreds of anima spiritia" through out the Protoculture fleets, only that there were some, and that could easily have been just as small a group as Sound Force.

Hah, people watching Eureka Seven's finale on Adult Swim just got
Keith replied to Raptor's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Edited TV broadcast you say, never saw that coming I gave up attempting to watch that many months ago, and just finished it on youtube. The DVD's coming out extremely slow is a much bigger issue. -
Hmm, a civil Macross 7 discussion, we truly do live in the future.

The smarter move would have been to hire Hideaki Anno to do an episode comprised of paper cut-outs (occassionally set on fire), that would have been awesome.
