I just started watching Black Heaven today. It's definately a little on the light/fluff side, but enjoyable so far (4 episodes in). -

Why not just "say" it broke down, ship it for a replacement before the 3 years is up, and save yourself the cash. -

Or depending on how closely you check your mail, it may have accidentally gotten tossed out. Seriously, it was a very unassuming envelope, that came from Broccoli instead of Bandai Visual, looked extremely junkmailish -

Considering the first episode is set to premiere in October (ish?) there's got to be an official promo video up soon. -

Hmm, from the looks of the character designer(s) chosen, Kawamori wants to get a little more ecchi this time. Gainax crossover staff is also a good sign. -
True the translation is bad, but the ones with just English are DVD-R's, at least with the chinese subtitle versions, he'll get a real DVD with better video quality.

Myung didn't agree to anything, which is why she had such a hard on against Isamu. She felt completely abandoned, Isamu made the decision to leave himself. Looking at that scene on Star Hill, it's far more apparent that Myung's straight up pissed off that Isamu was with another girl, than him fighting Guld. Hell, that scene would have played out pretty similarly had Guld not even been there (sans fight of course). Strangely enough, I just picked up Black Heaven on sale, so it's as good as anytime to see the style of the new director. -

Because Exedor's singing & dancing ruined it for every Zetnradi male in existence, now none of them will ever get laid...ever! -

Watch again. The 3 of them hung out together since childhood. Both Isamu & Guld "liked" Myung, but Myung eventually chose Isamu. Guld walked in on them, flipped out, "toe" up the place, and blacked out. Next day Isamu took off & joined the U.N. Spacy, Myung moved away (to earth or another colony) after feeling jilted by Isamu, & Guld held a grudge against Isamu for what he percieved as Isamu attacking Myung, since he couldn't cope with being rejected, and held that grudge for years. -

There will be plenty of mecha talk soon enough. And hopefully a blue-ray re-release of DYRL to coincide with the series premier. At which point hopefully BV will slap some subtitles on it, and release it over here! -
That was a little too entertaining. It's too bad there isn't any animated Hi-Nu, aside from SRW that is.
-
Cool, thanks. I may end up picking one up soon, though I don't plan on snagging a wii for a while.
-
It's been said before, but it still feels familiar yet dfferent. I wish they'd hurry up & just release the first one already. I can't wait to see how they come out.
-
And I'm pretty comfident that ADV know's to wait for DVD masters, at least they should have learned their lesson by now.

The new colony ships definately look Megaroad-y mixed with Gundam colonies. So far I definately like them. Character designs look a bit standard, I definately need to see them in motion. And that Vaklyrie picture is definately too long quality to judge. Hand drawn would be better, but it may just be intro CG, with in show fighters being hand drawn (ala 7 & Dynamite). Because the entire crux of their conflict revolves A: Guld being whacko, B: Isamu running away instead of actually dealing, & C: Myung freaking out because the other two freaked out. "War is bad, my flying can stop it" is no better. But let's compare. Besides which, Isamu was never betrayed, that was Guld, he wasn't protecting himself, he was just running so he wouldn't have to deal with the reprocussiosn of what happened. Basara: Passion for singing above all else. Isamu: Passion for flying above all else. Basara: Considered reckless for entering battelfields & singing regardless of what's going on. Isamu: Considered reckless for entering battlefields & showing off regardless of what's going on. Basara: Doesn't try to push his beliefs on others, but doesn't let others push his beliefs. Isamu: Doesn't try to push his beliefs on others, but doesn't let others push his beliefs. Basara: Puts love interests second to his grander purpose. Isamu: Puts love interests second to his grander purpose. Basara: Puts his purpose above petty things like military protocol (buffing the soulless Jamming Birds to continue singing his way). Isamu: Puts his purpose above petty things like mlitary protocol (stealing YF-19 to take out the ghost) Basara: Pissed off Gamlin because of his way of thinking, but eventually turned him around into a friend. Isamu: Pissed off Guld because of his way of thinking, but eventually turned him (back) into a friend. Basara: Doesn't really change much because he knew he was right to begin with. Isamu: Doesn't really change much because he knew he was right to begin with. And 7 doesn't how? Life isn't always about moral ambiguity, nor is fiction. Sometimes one person is right, and everyone has to come around. That's what was interesting, & somewhat unique about 7. Instead of the hero having to go on a learning journey to find the answer to save everyone, it was everyone else who had to do it. The hero wasn't flawed, brooding, or troubled, he had his sh!t together from the get go. -

At this point, I'd be surprised if they didn't Considering the VF-22/19 will be of cannon fodder class, I wonder what kind of weapons newer variable fighters will have. Omnidirectional shields? Fold capability standard? Beam weapons standard? Will A.I. make a comeback? The possabilities are intriguing. BTW, do we have a comifrmation that it is indeed taking place in the 2070's? Some of the reports I'm reading just say 20XX. Hmm, new whacked out theory. the aforementioned 'Space Monsters" are actually U.N. Spacy made attempts at backwards engineered PC technology gone awry. -
Has anyone heard about anything special being done for the R2 DVD's? New/retouched animation, etc?

Totally dissagree. The Macross Plus's motivations were centered around one specific event, i.e. Isamu got Myung, and Guld couldn't cope with it. Without that, none of the events in Plus would have taken place. Besides which, I can hardly see how you can call Basara's motivations shallow when he & Isamu are essentially the same character. Difference being, one has no qualms killing. As for the Minmay Attack, it was simply a culture shock on the Zentradi/Marduk, while what Basara/Firebomber does is the exact opposite. Instead of trying to rely on a culture shock + missile payload, they actually reach out & try to communicate (through music) their feelings. Hardly the same thing as Macross II. Hell, Plus basically set the groundwork up for it, by stripping the culture shock down to its basic parts, with Sharon Apples attempts at hypnotizing, proving ultimately how & why it won't work. Most likely, the new series will show this refined even further, although it may start out with a Jamming Birds esque attempt that evolves into something more. Another nice thing, by all indications, we'll get a female lead character finally. I'm a little scared to see how big a Macross Galaxy class colonization ship would be though, considering how huge the New Macross class were. -

Macross TV series (note, not OVA's) have always maintained the interpersonal human relationships during wartime, the only places that's faltered were Plus & Zero. And that's due to the restraints of only having 4 episodes of time to work with. 7 never relied on a Minmay defense posture, and if anything, evolved the concept into something far more viable. I expect the new series to do that same. Space monsters is super vague, but considering anything "like" the Protodevelin is entirely ruled out (no longer any reason why they'd bother attacking), rogue Zentradi wouldn't have teh technology to make such things, and even if they did, there wouldn't be much purpose. My guess, either another leftover Protoculture super weapon got out & went out of hand, kinda like the Buster Corps in Diebuster, or some other remnant has decided to take on humanity. Either way, I don't see how a new bioweapon type threat couldn't tie back into the Protoculture. Hell, maybe the AFOS went for backup. -

To hell with you naysayers, I'm quite happy so far. Though I can't help but wonder if a 40 year old Basara will wander in somehwere... Taking Macross up another 20 years is definately a good thing, new technology, bigger ships, the proper time for another new generation of Valkyries, etc. Besides, at that era, the U.N. Spacy would/should be adiquately equipped to take on Protoculture level technology (should that become a plot point). Hell, Kawamori "could" even decide to bring back the Megaroad (though I doubt that'd happen) with dexcendants of the original crew. -
Gundam 0080 on ANN's "Buried Treasure" Feature

I personally take the Newtype aspect as the main theme to represent people changing, Vs people who fear change, etc. And considering they always took center stage in Tomino's U.C., it'd hardly call them a plot device. -

They mailed them out around march/april (I forget), and they came in thin, really bendable manilla envelopes from "Brocoli" ent. -
Question: Has Nintendo released any kind of firmware upgrade that will let you use the classic controller to play gamecube games? Or do you still have to have a specific gamecube controller? I only ask because I picked up a copy of Twin Snakes a while ago, never really wanted to pick up a gamecube, but do plan on eventually getting a wii. Just wondering if I should also track down a gamecube controller.

Gundam to me is more about the whole Newtypes than average joes, the latter of which 0080 gives absolutely on service on. -
If you can't bag on peoples beliefs & values, then what the hell is the point in supposedly spreading freedom? Though since this is getting in the non-topic & forum rules area, it's the last I'll say on the topic. Suffice it to say, Seanbaby needs to update his damn website more.
